Pros

Excellent sound output

Bluetooth v5.0

AptX support

Cons

Feels a bit heavy and bulky

Marshall is one of its kind of UK based audio equipment manufacturers in the world.

Their products with a retro look that delivers exceptional sound quality is a dream come true for audiophiles around the globe.

The Kilburn II from Marshall is a boxy shaped wireless Bluetooth speaker that features a fully replaceable battery inside.

Design and Build Quality

At the first glance of the Marshall Kilburn II wireless Bluetooth speaker, you’ll feel at home with the design.

The same design that adored our old style radio which had a prominent grille upfront.

We can’t emphasise how cute and retro it looks in person rather than in the photos. This speaker is sure to be a priceless item on your home decor for sure.

The leather fabric coated interior chassis looks plush and premium. The detachable leather handle adds charm to the overall build of this product.

What we liked about this design is the rotating knobs for volume and bass/treble controls. The ON/OFF button is a toggle switch that works flawlessly.

Even the supplied aux-in cable has gold plated connectors and is coiled.

The company has polished the finer details which normally most of the companies prefer to leave untouched if not broken.

Speaker and Sound Quality

Behind the huge grill upfront grilled 3-speaker set up constituting a large 80mm driver subwoofer coupled with two 20mm driver tweeters.

The woofer lets out a deep bass that is punchy and natural at the same time.

The tweeters produce clean and crisp highs and pronounced vocals that don’t fade with the onset of bass.

This wireless speaker unit gets sufficiently loud. It can be used for parties or during outdoor camping.

Beware that this product isn’t water-resistant, take utmost care not to let water get inside.

The really rich bass and crisp treble make this device suitable for listening to any type of music.

Battery Life

Yes, it is. Marshall Kilburn II can last up to 20 hours on a single charge. In our tests, we found that the device lasted for about 18 hours with 60% volume from the beginning.

The one peculiar thing about this wireless Bluetooth speaker is that it uses a full-size AC charger to juice up the battery and not the traditional micro USB.

What it means is that, while you’re outdoors, you can’t charge this beast with your power bank.

However, the battery life is so impressive that this lack of micro USB charging isn’t a dealbreaker.

Verdict

If you are inclined to have the best possible sound output from a portable Bluetooth speaker priced under Rs.20,000, Marshall Kilburn II is the way to go.

With its deep, punchy bass and crystal clear vocals with tingling highs, this wireless speaker is suitable for listening to almost all genres of music in its full glory.

Battery Life

The UE MegaBoom 3 claims 20 hours of battery life and in real-life tests, users are getting almost 15 hours of battery backup which is still absolutely great in our opinion.

The only downside we find is that it comes with a micro USB charging port and it takes about 4 hours to get fully charged.

Verdict

We know the price is high but in return, you are getting a rough and tough portable Bluetooth speaker that provides 360-degree quality audio.

The UE MegaBoom 3 is for sure one of the best Bluetooth speakers in India.

Pros

Alexa – voice assistant

Companion application support

Up to 18 hours of battery life

Cons

Expensive

Located in Denmark, Bang and Olufsen manufacture audio products, television sets and telephones to cater for markets across the world.

The Beosound A1 2nd Gen is a portable Bluetooth speaker, let’s see if it’s worth paying Rs.20,000 or not.

Design and Build Quality

The Beosound A1 2nd Gen is built like a tank. The speaker grille is made using pearl-blasted aluminium and it feels way too premium in the hand.

At the bottom section, there are rubber paddings to keep the speaker steady on flat surfaces so the speaker can stay stable on flat surfaces.

The Beosound A1 Bluetooth speaker comes with the attached strap which makes it super convenient to carry – you can hook it on your ankle, or hang it on the wall.

Bang and Olufsen made this speaker rugged for any use case – it is dust and water-resistant.

All the buttons on the speaker are laid out on its circular surface and you don’t have to press hard.

The Beosound A1 includes 3 far-field microphones that are sensitive enough to pick the voice from a distance.

Speaker and Sound Quality

The Beosound A1 2nd Gen provides 360-degree omnidirectional sounds so while hanging out in a group put this speaker into the center and enjoy the premium sound quality.

Inside the speaker, there is a single 89mm woofer accompanied by a tweeter. This premium Bluetooth speaker sounds fairly loud and regarding its sound quality, it’s truly astonishing.

All the frequencies are in harmony and do not clash with each other even when the volume levels are tuned to the maximum.

What you will get from this speaker are deep bass, clear vocals and better stage separation.

You can also attend voice calls on this speaker, thanks to the three sensitive microphones which capture clear audio so the people on the other side can hear your sound crystal clear.

Miscellaneous

The Beosound A1 2nd Gen also comes with a companion application named “Bang and Olufsen.”

This app provides you with different equalizer modes.

Not to mention, this speaker also has the Amazon Alexa voice assistant support – so if you wish to change the song, you don’t have to take out your smartphone every time. Just say Alexa, and ask whatever song you want to hear.

Battery Life

The Beosound A1 2nd Gen provides 18 hours of battery life at medium volume and charging time is about 3 hours.

This speaker comes with a modern Type-C charging port and you can charge the same with your smartphone charger.

Verdict

The Beosound A1 2nd Gen is an expensive portable Bluetooth speaker and as we said, is it worth paying Rs.20,000? In our opinion, yes it is worth the asking price.

You are getting a durable build, premium design, brilliant audio quality, long-lasting battery life and a speaker with a built-in Alexa voice assistant.

5. Sony SRS-XB43

Sony SRS-XB43

All-round Performer

  • Praiseworthy sound quality
  • LED illumination
  • Preset sound modes
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Eye-catching aesthetics

Robust build quality

Feature-rich companion app

Cons

Hefty

Sony is mainly known in India for its high-quality televisions but apart from that company also has products ranging from earphones to Bluetooth speakers.

Sony SRS-XB43 is one of the best indoor and outdoor party Bluetooth speakers priced at Rs.16,890 available for purchase in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

The Sony SRS-XB43 comes with physical dimensions of 325 mm x 123 mm x 117 mm and the speaker is not lightweight at all.

Weighing at 2.9Kg, this speaker is heavy to carry around but that can be ignored given the excellent quality sound output it delivers.

Speaking of its build quality, Sony has used textured fabric material for the speaker grille and the remaining body is made out of rubberized materials.

All the function buttons are located at the top and the I/O compartment is at the back.

This premium Bluetooth speaker comes with the IP67 rating meaning it’s dust and water-resistant.

To make the speaker look more appealing on the user’s table, Sony also added an RGB strip on the outside and an LED that illuminates according to the beats in the music.

Speaker and Sound Quality

In Sony SRS-XB43, you will get two woofers, tweeters and passive bass radiators.

The speaker’s loudness is enough to fill a medium-size room. Sony has provided different sound modes like Stealth mode, Extra Bass and Live which you can switch according to your liking.

Out of these three, Live is one of the best. It provides more open sound and all the frequencies are well-balanced.

If you like to tune into bass mode, then Extra bass mode will boost the lows of the sound and passive radiators are also key elements in enhancing the bass.

You can change the mode from the application or by tapping on the “Live” button that is given at top of the speaker.

Miscellaneous

Surprisingly, the Sony SRS-XB43 supports NFC connectivity. The issue is, in Indian smartphones, not all devices have NFC so, make sure to check if your device has NFC or not.

If yes, then just take your smartphone close to the speaker and it will be paired instantly.

You can download the Sony Music Center app to control LEDs and change the sound modes.

Unfolding the flap at the back, there is a USB-C port, USB-A port and auxiliary cable. Right next to these ports, there are three buttons.

The first one is to check the battery percentage, the button in the middle is named “party connect” meaning that you can sync 100 Sony SRS-XB43 at once. The third button is a stereo pairing where you can connect only 2 Sony SRS-XB43 at once and have a surrounding sound experience.

Battery Life

Sony claims 24 hours of battery which is only possible in stealth mode and volume level set at 50% or lower.

However, we are sure that nobody will ever play songs in stealth mode because you are paying nearly Rs.17,000 for the sound quality.

So if you play songs in Live mode at 80% volume, expect the battery to last up to 8 hours or less, because that RGB is also a battery eater.

Sony provided a 15W charging adapter inside the box which juices up the battery levels a bit faster.

Verdict

The Sony SRS-XB43 is the best wireless Bluetooth speaker for parties, watching movies or listening to music.

For the price of Rs.17,000, you will get everything in this speaker.

6. JBL Charge 4

JBL Charge 4

Bass-heavy Bluetooth Speaker

  • Rich bass and clear treble
  • Good battery backup

BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Waterproof

Rugged build quality

USB-C port for charging

Cons

Slow charging

Bulky

JBL is a subsidiary of Harman international which is owned by Samsung popular across the world for providing high-quality audio products.

The JBL Charge 4 is a premium Bluetooth speaker priced at Rs.13,899 that offers excellent sound quality for the asking price.

Design and Build Quality

The JBL Charge 4 is not much different from its predecessor model, the JBL Charge 3, the size is slightly increased and the speaker has become a bit heavier.

This speaker weighs around 950 grams which is a lot and we take this as an exception because there is no place or holder given on the speaker to attach a strap so if you are taking it outside in your hands then your one hand will be occupied for the time being.

You can take it in backpacks while on tours or heading to pool parties as the JBL Charge 4 is certified waterproof.

The I/O ports are at the back tucked underneath a flap for added safety.

This speaker has textured fabric finish and the look and feel of this device is premium as ever.

Speaker and Sound Quality

The JBL Charge 4 comes with two drivers of 50mm and 90mm each. The total sound output from this speaker is 30W and it does get really loud for a medium-sized room.

There is no distortion even at full volume which is expected at this price but we think that bass is so overpowering that vocals get muddy at times.

The highs or instrument sounds coming from this speaker are clear and it would be perfect for those who love hearing songs with a lot of higher pitch instruments.

As we said, the bass is way too spiced on this speaker and since many Indians prioritize the bass, we don’t think it is much of a problem until or unless you are a core audiophile.

To summarize the audio quality, we’d say it is more focused towards bass lovers and media enthusiasts who use Bluetooth speakers and connect it to their smartphones or tablets while watching movies.

Miscellaneous

The JBL Charge 4 comes with Bluetooth v4.2 that offers a good connectivity up to 10 meters range.

This device has a TWS option as well which can be utilized only if you have two JBL Charge 4. You can connect it simultaneously to have a stereo sound experience.

You can also play songs in wired mode using an auxiliary cable and the USB-A port can be useful to charge your smartphone, tablet or smartwatch.

Battery Life

The JBL Charge 4 is powered by a 7800mAh lithium battery that is rated to last up to 20 hours of music playback on a single charge.

As we mentioned earlier, this speaker will also let you reverse charge your smartphone/tablet in case they need a quick juice up.

It takes about four hours to completely charge this speaker from zero to empty using a standard wall charger.

Verdict

The JBL Charge 4 is a bass-heavy Bluetooth speaker priced under Rs.15,000 and if you need one for a party then opt for this.

Cons

Bose is an American company and the brand mostly deals in premium range Bluetooth and smart speakers.

The Bose SoundLink Color 2 is a high-quality portable Bluetooth speaker priced at Rs.11,500.

Design and Build Quality

The Bose SoundLink Color 2 sports a rubberized coating giving this speaker a premium feel and improved hand grip.

The buttons at the top are responsive and you do not require hard press so it saves your energy.

Bose does mention that the speaker is water-resistant but without a definite IP rating per se. You can take it outside and it will work just fine with minor water splashes and drizzle.

The speaker grille on this one is now rocking solid compared to its predecessor. The I/O ports are exposed and not covered into the flap so make sure to avoid water contact as much as possible.

Speaker and Sound Quality

The Bose SoundLink Color 2 is suitable for small to medium size rooms. Even though the driver details are unknown, this speaker sounds excellent and it’s not surprising given the track record of Bose speakers.

The stage separation is excellent and the bass, treble notes compensate each other pretty well.

The vocals appear crystal clear without any distortions even at maximum volume levels.

The higher end treble sounds tinny at times but not as much as that of a dealbreaker. The punchier bass and the clean vocals along with the treble notes makes listening to music with this speaker a pleasant experience.

Miscellaneous

With the Bose Simplesync technology you can pair the two Bose SoundLink Color 2 simultaneously to have loud and stereo sound experience.

This speaker can be also configured with the Bose Connect App which is available on play store and app store. The application will show you what this speaker has to offer and you can take full advantage of it.

Battery Life

The Bose SoundLink Color 2 will last up to 8-10 hours on a single charge. It uses micro USB to charge which feels like a little letdown at this price.

Verdict

If you need a high quality Bluetooth speaker for your home then Bose SoundLink Color 2 is a perfect choice.

The speaker also has its companion app and offers TWS functionality so for its price it is good.

8. JBL Flip 5

JBL Flip 5

Value for Money Bluetooth Speaker

  • Powerful, sound loud output
  • 12 hours of battery life
  • Excellent stereo stage separation
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Robust build quality

IPX7 waterproof

JBL signature sound

Cons

No easily pocketable

JBL Flip 5 is the latest Flip series portable Bluetooth speaker from JBL priced well under Rs.10,000.

The Flip series is known for its build quality and powerful sound output and the Flip 5 doesn’t disappoint on that front.

Design and Build Quality

The JBL Flip 4 was a cylinder. Well to be precise, a loved-by-everyone kind of cylinder. We’re happy that Flip 5 decided to keep the same form factor intact.

The nylon fabric is awesome as always and feels very tough. The control buttons are a bit raised this time, giving awesome tactile feedback when pressed.

We feel that the JBL Flip 5 weighs more than the Flip 5. That’s our thought and even then, this cute Bluetooth speaker is a joy to carry around.

Speaker and Sound Quality

We were impressed by how well the Flip 4 sounded. The Flip 5 sounds even better. The bass is more pronounced this time around. You’ll feel the punch for sure.

The mids and highs are clear and sound pure. We didn’t notice any kind of distortion even at maximum volume levels.

But we did feel a tiny lack of detailing in the sound of certain instruments. Not a deal-breaker though as most of us won’t even notice the difference at all.

Water Resistance

The JBL Flip 5 comes with a standard splash and spill resistance. This time around the company has added an IPX7 certification to the bunch.

Now you can submerge this wireless speaker up to 1m of water for 30 minutes without any damage to this product.

Beware, this speaker doesn’t float. So better drop somewhere you can easily pick it up.

Miscellaneous

The JBL Connect feature has received an upgrade on the Flip 5 Bluetooth speaker. You can now pair up to 100 speakers at once. Yes, a hundred.

The only downside of this feature is that now the Connect + feature isn’t backwards compatible.

In short, sweet words, you can only connect a connect + certified device to Flip 5 and not the other way around.

The signal reception is exceptionally good. We were able to pair up the device and roam around the office without any break in the signal.

Battery Life

Fret not, the battery life is pretty good with the JBL Flip 5. Our device lasted for about 15 hours of continuous music playback on a single charge. If you’re listening at full volume, expect this to drop significantly.

Verdict

The overall performance from the JBL Flip 5 is phenomenal making it the best portable Bluetooth speaker priced under Rs.10,000.

The excellent sound quality coupled with the superb battery life and build quality make this product one of the best in this budget.

  • Water-resistant design
BUY FROM FLIPKART

Pros

LED indicator for battery levels

USB-A port support

Strap for easy portability

Cons

Poor battery life

boAt has been consistent with its product release and marketing efforts which makes the brand renowned in India.

The boAt Stone 1350 is a loud party Bluetooth speaker priced at Rs.4,999.

Design and Build Quality

This cylindrical-shaped speaker from boAt is heavy and tough.

Starting with its build quality, the Bluetooth speaker has fabric texture material on its circular surface and the remaining body of the speaker is made using rubberized material.

The speaker comes with the IPX6 tag that shows the speaker is water-resistant and can handle minor splashes and raindrops.

To make its portability convenient for the user, boAt has provided stainless steel hooks at the speaker top and inside the retail box, you will also get a dedicated strap.

The strap will let you carry the speaker easily as carrying it in hand is not very convenient.

The buttons are placed at the top and there is also an LED indicator that shows battery life.

Speaker and Sound Quality

The boAt Stone 1350 sports dual 70mm driver that provides a total of 30W output and honestly, the speaker is way too loud.

You can easily organize a small party at your home and make everybody dance with this speaker.

There is a bit of distortion in sound at full volume but is hardly audible and it also depends on the songs you are playing.

The trebles on this one are excellent and it does not get muffled by the lows and mids.

The vocals are clear but we think a little more detailing in it would make this speaker an awesome one, well, if you are a normal listener then this should not be a deal-breaker.

The bass is balanced, it’s not super-high or absent, it’s just right. If you’re looking for a bass-heavy speaker then skip this one.

Overall, we love the sound quality of boAt Stone 1350.

Miscellaneous

The boAt Stone 1350 comes with the latest Bluetooth v5.0 technology.

You can pair two boAt Stone 1350 at the same time using the TWS function and enjoy a robust stereo sound output.

If you don’t want to use Bluetooth then use your pen drive to play songs as it comes with the USB-A port.

Battery Life

The boAt Stone 1350 offers only 6 hours of battery life with the volume level set at 60% so if you keep listening to songs at 80% constantly then the battery will drain faster than expected.

Thank god, this latest speaker uses USB-C port charging however, it still does not support fast charging and takes almost 3-4 hours to fully charge.

Verdict

The boAt Stone 1350 is a brilliant wireless Bluetooth party speaker for the price of Rs.4,999.

The speaker is for regular listeners who just need a loud, clear and good quality sound.

10. Tribit Max Sound Plus

Tribit Max Sound Plus

Best Portable Bluetooth Speaker

  • Dedicated XBass sound profile
  • 24W loud sound output
  • Stable Bluetooth connectivity
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Solid build quality

Decent indoor microphone performance

Dual bass radiators

Cons

No SD card slot/USB port

Tribit is a Chinese brand known for its affordable Bluetooth speakers and headphones.

The Max Sound Plus speaker from Tribit comes as an upgrade to the XSound Go speaker that we had discussed in the Best Bluetooth Speakers under Rs.3,000 article.

Design and Build Quality

The Tribit Max Sound Plus has the same rounded cylindrical design as that of its younger sibling – the XSound Go.

The plastic chassis with rubber finish texture on top and the signature speaker grille up front looks and feels well built and sturdy.

One differentiating factor in terms of the design of this Bluetooth speaker is the bass outlet in the rear where one of the two bass radiators are located.

There is also an additional XBass button on the top section of the speaker along with the regular playback control buttons.

Overall, the Tribit Max Sound Plus is a well made Bluetooth speaker with a good overall fit and finish, well worth the asking price.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Tribit Max Sound Plus Bluetooth speaker features two 45mm front-facing speaker drivers assisted by two passive bass radiators – one facing forward and the other facing backwards.

Surprisingly, this Bluetooth speaker offers a sound signature comparable to expensive speakers such as the JBL Flip 4 and Sony XB21.

The bass is clean and deep and the vocals sound very audible, distinct from the tingling treble notes.

For those who like extra bass, pressing down the XBass button up top will enhance the bass notes further.

The stage separation between the vocals and the bass, treble notes is very distinct and audible with this Bluetooth speaker.

Even at maximum volume levels, this speaker doesn’t exhibit any sort of noticeable sound distortions.

Miscellaneous

Apart from the wireless Bluetooth connectivity, the Tribit Max Sound Plus has an AUX input port for wired connectivity.

The inbuilt microphone on this device facilitates hands-free calling, which works well indoors where the ambient background noise is minimal.

Battery Life

The Tribit Max Sound Plus is powered by a 2200mAh battery inside that will last up to 20 hours of music playback on a single charge.

This number is highly subjective and may vary depending on the volume levels and the type of music being played.

With a normal 5V/1.5A charger, the Tribit Max Sound Plus speaker takes about four hours to completely charge from zero to a hundred per cent.

Verdict

The Tribit Max Sound Plus is a robust Bluetooth speaker with a well-balanced sound profile with decent bass, voice clarity and crisp treble notes.

The solid build quality and long-lasting battery life add to the worthiness of this budget Bluetooth speaker from Tribit.

    • Hi Tharun!

For a budget under Rs.30,000, you can check out the Marshall Kilburn II Bluetooth speaker (Link – https://amzn.to/3b1dck7) that does provide one of the best sound output quality in this price bracket.Since this is a water-resistant speaker unit, you can use it both indoors as well as outdoors without much of an issue.

Now, moving on to your second question, most of the times, speakers does compromise on sound quality when it comes to the maximum loudness. However, speakers from branded companies such as Marshall and Bose show little to no degradation in terms of audio output quality, even at the maximum volume level.

The Harman Kardon Aura S3 (Link – https://amzn.to/3q5WNyW) is loud enough for indoor parties but fares average when used outdoors when compared with some other speakers available in the market. The 360-degree surround sound is desirable but the coverage area is limited when compared to single side facing speakers.
