Best Gaming Keyboards in India (December 2021)

Gaming keyboards are an important part and parcel of any desktop/laptop gaming setup.

Owning a high-quality gaming keyboard makes significant changes in the gameplay experience. These days, hardcore gamers often consider a gaming keyboard as important as the processor or the GPU inside.

The most common type of gaming keyboards are mechanical and membrane keyboards.

Mechanical keyboards have physical switches on them while membrane keyboards have a membrane sheet placed between the keys and the circuit and function similar to a standard television remote.

Mechanical keyboards are the gold standard for gaming but people use membrane-type keyboards as well due to their affordability.

We at Bettershark have curated a list of the ten best gaming keyboards in India for you to make your purchase decision an easier and learned process so that you can benefit the most from your hard-earned money.

Design and Build Quality

The SteelSeries Apex 7 sports an aircraft-grade aluminium alloy plate on the front side and the base plate is made out of durable plastic.

This keyboard weighs around 770 grams and is not that heavy. Also while typing fast it does not move from its place as there are rubber grips at the bottom.

Just like in any other keyboard you will also find a foldable leg stand on this one as well which lifts the keyboard from the topside to provide the user a comfortable typing posture.

There is also a three-way cable routing design at the bottom so you can choose according to your convenience from where the cable should go.

We truly love the ergonomic design of this keyboard but is this enough to justify the price of Rs.19,976? Well, there’s more to discuss.

Underneath the keycaps, there are Red switches that offer nice tactile feedback on typing.

This gaming keyboard has an OLED display and there is a scrolling knob right next to it and under that scrolling knob, you will notice a key with a dash line.

These are media control buttons scrolling up and down will help you control volume and the dash line button is for the skip, previous, and play/pause tracks.

That scrolling knob works more than just adjusting the volume. Which we will explain in the performance section.

The SteelSeries Apex 7 offers tactile feedback and with that RGB illumination, the typing and gaming experience will be delightful.

We left something to tell you about the scrolling knob, it also functions as a tap button and if you press it activates the modes and colours of the keyboard and you can see details on that OLED screen.

Using it is quite simple, just tap it once and you will undergo the menu of colours and illumination modes. For now, it has around 6 to 7 RGB illumination modes but more is on the way.

If you don’t like using that scrolling knob you can also use dedicated software by the company to configure this keyboard according to your preference.

The keyboard has 5 macro buttons and you can set up shortcuts from the software. You can download the software from here.

The brand has ensured 50M keystrokes for life which means the product is reliable for long-term use.

The SteelSeries Apex 7 also comes with a detachable magnetic wrist rest. The wrist rest has a magnet on the front and all you have to do is to attach the wrist rest to the lower side of the keyboard and you are ready to go.

Gamesir is a Chinese company known for manufacturing and marketing gaming peripherals and related accessories. They are known for their gamepads for PCs and mobile.

The GK300 is a wireless mechanical gaming keyboard from Gamesir priced under Rs.10,000 in the Indian market.

Build and Design

Gamesir’s GK300 gaming keyboard is not your regular gaming keyboard. This keyboard has been designed to fit in any workplace or home and does not attract much attention as other gaming keyboards.

Gamesir has taken a no-frills approach to this mechanical gaming keyboard. You won’t find any gaming accents on this keyboard and if not informed beforehand you might mistake it for an ordinary keyboard.

If you are someone who prefers a minimalist keyboard, then the Gamesir GK300 might be of interest to you.

Talking about the build quality of this keyboard, Gamesir has utilized a mixture of both plastic and metal for its construction. The top panel of this keyboard is made of metal while the rest of the keyboard is made from plastic.

This is a full-sized keyboard which means you also have a number pad. The Gamesir GK300 is ideal for office use since it would blend well with any environment.

LED lighting is available on this keyboard but instead of RGB, this keyboard has a single white backlit which looks professional and goes well with the keyboard. There are multiple lighting effects to choose from to compensate for the lack of RGB lighting.

In the back of the keyboard, you will find multiple bumps that provide stability to the keyboard and give it a tilt. This keyboard is naturally tilted and you cannot lay it flat.

To connect the Gamesir GK300 to your host device, all you have to do is attach the USB receiver or you could also connect this keyboard via the help of Bluetooth to use it with your smartphone.

This keyboard also comes with a detachable wrist rest that provides utmost comfort while typing.

Performance

The Gamesir GK300 performs well which is expected from a premium mechanical gaming keyboard.

This gaming keyboard is equipped with Gamesir’s custom TTC mechanical Blue switches which function similarly to the Cherry MX Blue switches. These mechanical switches have a keystroke life of 50 million ensuring excellent durability.

Mechanical switches are known for providing tactile feedback and a satisfying typing experience. The keys on this keyboard have a travel distance of 4mm, delivering an effortless typing experience.

The Anti-ghosting feature is available on this keyboard. You can press up to 10 keys simultaneously on this keyboard which should be more than enough for most games.

Corsair is a world-renowned company that is known primarily for its coolers, PC cabinets, and other computer peripherals.

The Corsair MK70 is one of the most popular mechanical gaming keyboards in the market but it is priced at quite a premium.

This is why Corsair has launched the K60 Pro mechanical gaming keyboard for half the price of the MK70. The Corsair K60 Pro is currently available in the Indian market for Rs.7,628.

Build and Design

The Corsair K60 Pro is a clean and minimalistic-looking gaming keyboard. This gaming keyboard comes with an all-black colour scheme.

In terms of build quality, this keyboard features an anodized aluminium frame similar to most of their new keyboards. The frame has a brushed metal finish that gives the keyboard a premium look.

Although the keyboard looks subtle at first glance, all of that changes once you connect it to your computer or laptop.

This gaming keyboard features a single red led backlighting. The red lighting on the keyboard gives it the gaming flair. The Corsair K60 Pro is also available with RGB lighting at a higher price.

At the back of the keyboard, there are contoured lines that give it a nice design. It is better than just a flat back design. There are rubber pads on the corners and you also get two foldable legs to provide you with a raised typing experience.

For connectivity, this gaming keyboard features a rubberized USB cable with a length of 1.8 meters. It would have been nice if Corsair gave you the option to detach the cable like some of its premium offerings.

Performance

The Corsair K60 Pro like its elder cousins the MK90 and MK70 is also equipped with Cherry switches however these are not Cherry MX, instead these are Cherry Viola switches.

Cherry Viola switches are not as good Cherry MX switches but they are still one of the better mechanical switches that you can get on a keyboard. These switches are known for being linear with fast inputs. They are suitable for competitive gaming.

If you prefer more tactile feedback then these switches are not the ones for you. Unfortunately, neither can you swap the switches.

Being a gaming keyboard the Corsair K60 Pro supports 100% anti-ghosting which means you can simultaneously press multiple buttons at the same time. This can be useful while playing competitive games.

The media keys are integrated into the FN keys of the keyboard. These media keys let you access shortcuts like increasing or decreasing the volume.

The Corsair K60 Pro features support for their iCue gaming software that lets you set up macros, remap keys and customize the lighting effects on the keyboard.

Verdict

The Corsair K60 Pro is an excellent option for gamers that are looking for a mechanical keyboard that utilizes high-quality Cherry switches and not Chinese knock-offs like Outemu and Longhua on their keyboards. We recommend this gaming keyboard for all gamers whether casual or competitive.

Asus is a company that needs no introduction when we speak about computers or laptops and their peripherals. We have reviewed quite a few laptops by Asus in many of our articles and they have never failed to impress.

One of their peripherals is the Asus Cerberus Mech RGB gaming keyboard which is a premium gaming keyboard retailing for approximately Rs.7,000 in the Indian market.

Build and Design

The Asus Cerberus Mech RGB is a full-sized mechanical gaming keyboard.

Asus has manufactured this gaming keyboard with a mixture of both plastic and metal. The frame of the keyboard is made from metal, this adds to the rigidity of the keyboard.

The gaming keyboard has a matte finish and is a fingerprint magnet. Hence make sure you don’t touch the keyboard with oily or greasy hands since it can be difficult to clean.

What is a gaming keyboard without RGB lighting? This is why the Cerber Mech features per-key RGB lighting with a wide spectrum of colours to choose from. There are also 7 preset lighting effects on the keyboard to add to the gaming flair.

The keys of the keyboard seem to have been placed uniformly and this gives it quite a classy look.

At the rear of the keyboard as expected we have a foldable stand that is used to provide an inclined angle to the keyboard. This inclined angle helps reduce pressure on your wrists.

An addition of a wrist rest would have been even better, unfortunately, Asus has not provided one.

The cable of the keyboard is braided and the USB connector is gold plated which means you have a better connection that is free from any interference.

Performance

The Asus Cerberus Mech RGB functions similarly to how you would expect any mechanical keyboard to function as.

The keys of the keyboard did not feel flimsy and are quite satisfactory to use.

This gaming keyboard is equipped with Kailh switches. There are the Red, Blue, Brown, and Black switches to choose from. Each of these switches has its unique feature set.

For example, the Blue switches are known for tactile feedback and the Red is known for linear feedback.

Furthermore, Asus claims that the switches are rated to last for up to 70 million keystrokes which are 20 million more than the industry-standard Cherry MX switches.

Another cool feature of this keyboard is the ability to record macros. This can provide you with an advantage over other players.

This gaming keyboard does not require gaming software, the RGB and macros can be set directly from the keyboard. The keyboard also features onboard memory so you don’t have the hassle of setting up the macros and RGB every time you turn it on.

Verdict

The Asus Cerberus Mech RGB is a gaming keyboard that is going to last for quite a while. Thanks to its excellent build quality and switches you won’t be changing your keyboards any time soon.

BUYING GUIDE FOR GAMING KEYBOARD IN INDIA

A gaming keyboard is a must-have for professional PC gamers and those who want to get the most out of their gaming setup. Gaming keyboards are specially designed to provide a competitive edge over standard keyboards.

The highly saturated Indian market is loaded with a wide range of gaming keyboards and everyone doesn’t need to know which particular product to spend their hard-earned money on.

This is why we have made a short and concise buying guide that will touch upon a few important points that will help you understand the basics of purchasing a gaming keyboard.

Build

Build quality is an important factor when choosing a gaming keyboard. Gaming keyboards come with three types of builds – plastic, metallic build and a mixture of both. The most common build found in gaming keyboards is a combination of both metal and plastic.

Metal is used in gaming keyboards because of its premium feel while plastic is used because of its affordability and durable nature.

The metal used in gaming keyboard construction is usually aluminium and it forms the frame of the keyboard or the top panel.

We recommend going for a keyboard that has a mixture of both aluminium and plastic since you get both a durable and premium feeling gaming keyboard.

But if you would like to save some extra cash you could always opt for a cheaper all-plastic gaming keyboard.

Mechanical and Membrane

Mechanical keyboards are those which have a spring mechanism in them and every key has its switch.

While membrane keyboards don’t have actual switches in them and instead have a thin membrane layer below which lies a circuit that registers the key which is pressed.

Mechanical keyboards have always been leagues ahead when compared to a membrane keyboard because of the tactile feel which one receives when using a mechanical keyboard.

But of late, membrane keyboards have reached a point where they try to imitate mechanical keyboards. Although they aren’t as tactile as a mechanical keyboard, they have come quite far in terms of the feel.

But the issue with the mechanical keyboard is that they are much more expensive when compared to a membrane keyboard. If one wants to purchase a good mechanical keyboard then he would have to spend quite a lot.

Features

There is a wide range of features that you can find in a gaming keyboard, but there are certain features that truly enhance your gaming experience.

Anti-ghosting and Windows lock are some of the basic features which set apart a gaming keyboard from a standard keyboard.

Some additional features you can find in a gaming keyboard include splash resistance, dedicated media controls, USB pass-through, etc.

So always make sure you go through the feature set of the gaming keyboards to know what are the features that you require.

Lighting

Gaming keyboards are known for having flash LED lighting on them which make them stand out from your standard keyboards.

Although LED lighting is not a necessity when it comes to gaming keyboards since they don’t provide any important benefit other than visibility in the dark but if you are an avid gamer you would already know the key locations.

LED lighting should not be much of a concern when it comes to gaming keyboards since even if you don’t like them usually all keyboards have the option to turn the lights off.

Types of Keys

Types of keys are an important thing to consider when purchasing a mechanical gaming keyboard. The mechanical keyboards have various switches which are used in them that are of different colours and from different companies.

The common mechanical switches you would find are Gateron, Outemu switches, Cherry MX and Romer G. Cherry MX switches are considered the best type of switches while Romer G switches are found in Logitech’s mechanical keyboards and Outemu switches are a cheaper alternative found in most budget mechanical keyboards.

The colours of the switches are another important thing you should know about. Switches come in Blue, Silver, Red, Orange, Brown etc. Each switch has its unique characteristic.

For example, Blue switches are known to be tactile and clicky sounding switches while Red switches are known for speed.

So depending on what your preference is you should check out the switches which suit your play style.

We hope that you go through all the above-mentioned points before purchasing a gaming keyboard since it is a factor that will decide your gaming experience.
