asus-tuf-gaming-a15
Overall Best Pick
  • Robust build quality
  • 144Hz Refresh Rate FHD display
  • Powerful CPU and GPU

The TUF lineup of laptops from Asus is their mid-range gaming laptop segment which is known for its durability and value for money features.

The A15 is one of their new gaming laptops in this segment which is available for purchase in India with a price tag of just Rs.70,900.

Build and Design

The TUF Gaming A15 is built like a beast. This laptop is available in either the Bonfire black colour or Fortress grey variants. The black colour laptop features a plastic lid while the grey colour has a metal lid even though the body is made of plastic materials.

The laptop has a brushed metallic finish to it, which makes it look and feel quite premium for the price.

At the bottom of the laptop, we get the speaker grills and some rubberized pads for a better grip.

The air intake vents are also placed in the bottom section of this machine. These vents have a nice honeycomb design to it and thanks to the dual cooling fans inside, the internal temperature remains under control.

In the rear, you will find the air exhaust vent so the hot air can leave the system. The thermals on the laptop are quite good.

The keyboard on the A15 is a full-size one with a dedicated number pad. This keyboard comes with fully customizable RGB backlit keys that can be customized using the armoury crate software. The keys have a 1.8mm travel distance and offer a comfortable typing experience.
The laptop has military-grade durability certification and it weighs at around 2.3kg.

Connectivity Options

Headphone Jack
RJ45
HDMI
1 x USB 2.0 port
1 x USB 3.2 port
1 x USB Type C port

Processor and Performance

The A15 stands tall even in terms of performance and this laptop shows how far the midrange gaming laptops have reached.

Inside the Asus A15 laptop, we get the 4th Gen Ryzen 5 4600H processor along with 8GB of DDR4 RAM running at a frequency of 3200MHz. The RAM on the laptop can be further upgraded up to 32GB for heavy gaming or intense multitasking.

The graphics card on the A15 is the Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti with GDDR6 4GB VRAM. The 1650ti should be able to handle most of the graphically demanding games without any problem.

For storage, you get a 1TB SATA HDD along with an ultrafast 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD. The NVMe SSD should drastically increase the bootup speed of your laptop to just a few seconds and there will also be a noticeable decrease in loading times while playing games.

The problem with the 256GB NVMe SSD is its size since the operating system itself takes some of the space on the drive which leaves you with less than 210GB of storage to install your games on.

The speakers on the A15 come with DTS certification. They are quite loud and do their job pretty well.

The armoury crate software on the Asus A15 also helps you to tune and customize the performance of the laptop according to your needs.

Display

The display on the A15 laptop is a 144Hz Full HD 1080p IPS panel. This allows you to enjoy your games at high frame rates.

With the Adaptive-sync technology, the display’s refresh rate synchronizes with the GPU’s frame rate to reduce lag, minimize stuttering, and eliminate screen tearing for smooth gameplay.

The bezels on the display are also really minimal which lets you enjoy more content on the screen.

Battery Life

The battery on the laptop is a 48WHr 3-cell Li-Po battery. Charging up the laptop completely can take around 2 hours.

The battery life on the TUF A15 is pretty decent, you can expect up to 6 hours on normal usage, but gaming on the battery would drastically impact the battery life.

Verdict

The Asus TUF A15 is currently one of the best gaming laptops available in the country at the price range of Rs.70,000. With a 144Hz refresh rate and the military-grade durability certification, this is a laptop that is both reliable and durable for use in the long term.

2. Dell G3

dell-g3-3500
Runner-Up Pick
  • Tenth generation Intel i5 processor
  • 120Hz refresh rate FHD display
  • Up to 6 hours of battery life

The Dell G series of laptops is the successor to their Inspiron gaming laptop series, the Dell G3 is a great mid-range gaming laptop.

Build and Design

The Dell G3 gaming laptop has a complete plastic build, but it still is quite a premium laptop in terms of build quality and design.

Dell has chosen the colour combination of black and blue for their laptop and it is quite refreshing from the traditional black and red we find in most gaming laptops.

The G3 is a laptop for those who want a more streamlined and professional look rather than laptops with typical aggressive gaming flair.

The keyboard on the G3 is full-sized and has blue LED-backlit keys. There is no RGB backlit available.

The power button of the laptop also doubles as a fingerprint sensor which adds to the physical security of the device.

The Dell G3 has intake air vents in the bottom and boasts a dual-fan cooling system that prevents the internals from thermal throttling while gaming. You also get dual vents in the rear for the hot air to pass through.

The trackpad of the G3 is also made of plastic and the tracking is accurate.

Connectivity Options

2 x USB 3.2 ports
2 x USB 2.0 ports
1 x HDMI port
1 x RJ45 port
SD Card reader
Headphone Jack

Processor and Performance

The G3 gaming laptop runs on Intel’s 10th Generation Core i5-10300H processor. This processor has a base clock speed of 2.5GHz and it can be boosted up to 4.5GHz depending upon the processor load. This is a capable processor for gaming and should provide outstanding performance in most situations.

The Dell G3 has 8GB DDR4 RAM and if that is not sufficient, it can also be upgraded up to 16GB.

The GPU on the G3 is the notable Nvidia GTX 1650, which has 4GB of DDR6 VRAM. This graphics card should be sufficient for running most games on medium to high graphics settings.

The GTX 1650 combined with the 10th generation i5 should be able to perform the heaviest of tasks without a problem.

Speaking of the storage, we get a combination of 1TB HDD and a 256GB NVMe SSD. The laptop has an impressive bootup speed thanks to the super-fast NVMe SSD.

The Alienware command centre can be accessed to fine-tune the laptop according to your preferences.

The G3 has a key on it called the Game Shift key, which on pressing will deliver a solid boost in the performance of the laptop, at the expense of battery life. What it does is, it cranks up the performance of the laptop in the Alienware command centre and gives you the most out of the laptop.

The stereo speakers on the G3 are quite loud which is something we don’t get to see much often on laptops. Dell uses Nahimic 3D audio for the speakers which boosts the audio and voice performance of the laptop.

Display

The display on the G3 is a smooth 120Hz Full HD display. This is bound to give you an edge over other laptops with the standard 60Hz refresh rate. This panel has a brightness of 250nits and comes with anti-glare coating on top to reduce light reflectivity.

Compared to the earlier Inspiron models, the G3 has narrow bezels around the display, providing an immersive media consumption experience.

The bottom chin, however, is considerably bigger but that is because it holds the Dell logo.

On the top bezel, you also get a webcam. The webcam isn’t the best but should be good enough for video calls under good lighting conditions.

Battery Life

Dell claims that the G3 laptop has a battery life of up to 10 hours on ordinary usage. We advise you to take this with a pinch of salt and expert this laptop to last anywhere from 5-6 hours on a single charge.

The laptop supports quick charge so you don’t have to worry about running out of juice.

Verdict

If you are someone who wants a laptop for professional needs or college and also wants to game whenever possible then this is a great option for you.

The G3 is a sleek and minimalistic laptop that is suitable for someone who doesn’t like the way gaming laptops usually look.

3. Acer Nitro 5

acer-nitro-5
Best Budget Gaming Laptop
  • Powerful processor and GPU
  • Up to 6 hours of battery life
  • Hardware upgradability

Acer is a Taiwanese multinational company that manufactures computers, laptops, smartphones, etc. The Acer Nitro series is one of their many mid-range gaming laptops. Acer Nitro 5 has been one of the most sought after gaming laptops by Acer.

Build and Design

This is a refresh of the previous Nitro 5 model.

The body of the Acer Nitro 5 is completely made of plastic and it’s not the best quality of plastic we find in a laptop. The Nitro series laptops are notorious for their below-par plastic quality.

This laptop also has a decent amount of red accents which assures the crowd that this is a gaming laptop, but they have toned down the gaming flair with mild curves and red colour compared to the older model.

The Acer Nitro 5 has sufficient ventilation to keep the laptop cool. The dual cooling fans in the laptop make use of the proprietary CoolBoost technology that increases the fan speed by 10% more than usual. The quad exhaust vents in the rear also help in better heat dissipation from this machine.

The edges of the exhaust vents are quite sharp so it might be a bit uncomfortable to hold onto the laptop.

The keyboard on the laptop is backlit and has 4 zone RGB backlighting which is quite nice. The key travel is really good and there isn’t any wobble to the keys which is appreciable.

The trackpad on the Nitro 5 is placed a bit to the left and hence you don’t get to rest your left arm properly. This trackpad supports Windows precision drivers for excellent multi-finger gesture support.

Connectivity Options

2 x USB 3.2 (1st Gen) ports
1 x USB 3.2 (2nd Gen) port
1 x USB Type C port
RJ45 port
HDMI port
Headphone Jack

Processor and Performance

The Acer Nitro 5 comes loaded with a 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10300H and it should be able to perform resource-intensive tasks without a problem.

For multitasking on this laptop, we get 8GB DDR4 RAM which should be more than enough but if you require more RAM you can expand it up to 32GB which is quite an overkill, to be honest.

The GPU on the NItro 5 is Nvidia’s very own GTX 1650 that has 4GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM. The GTX 1650 should be able to run most modern games at medium to high settings and a constant 60 FPS is very much achievable.

For storage options on the Acer Nitro 5, you get a 1TB HDD + 256GB SSD. The SSD on The Nitro 5 laptop is not the fastest but it is still significantly faster than the conventional HDD.

The fans in the laptop can be controlled manually using the Nitro sense software or you can leave it on auto. You can also turn the CoolBoost on or off.

The speakers on the Acer Nitro 5 are DTS certified but they don’t sound all that great. We recommend you use a headphone or an earphone while gaming.

Display

The display on the Nitro 5 is a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel. Acer claims that the brightness of the display can go up to 300 nits.

Now the display is not the best on the laptop, the viewing angles are not all that great and colour accuracy is a bit off, so if you are looking for a laptop for editing then it’s not the best choice. Gaming on the laptop should be fine though.

There are also reports of screen bleeding on the laptop.

The bezels on the Nitro 5 are minimal; you can also find a web camera in the top bezel in a square cut out. The webcam on the Nitro 5 is actually of pretty good quality.

Battery Life

The Nitro 5 is powered by a 57.5WHr Li-ion battery. To juice up the battery once it dies you get a 135W AC adapter bundled in the box.

Acer claims that you can get up to 6 hours of battery life on the Nitro 5 on a single charge, thanks to the less power-hungry 10th gen Intel processor.

Verdict

The Nitro 5 is a great 15.6-inch laptop for gaming, but if you are looking for a laptop for editing purposes then we would recommend you not get this laptop because of the colour accuracy.

4. Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3

lenovo-ideaPad-gaming-3
Professional Laptop
  • Powerful CPU+GPU combination
  • Up to six hours of battery life
  • Decent FHD display

The Lenovo Ideapad series of laptops are known for being all-round performance machines for a variety of purposes.

These are laptops that are aimed at businesses and students alike. Now with the Ideapad Gaming series, Lenovo is also giving consumers the option of owning a mid-range gaming laptop.

Build and Design

The Ideapad Gaming 3 series is an update to the previous Lenovo Ideapad L340. This is quite a professional-looking laptop and doesn’t feature any gamer accents except the dual vents in the rear.

The laptop has a completely plastic build with a matte finish exterior which looks bold and premium. The laptop weighs at 2.2kg which is normal for a performance-oriented laptop.

This gaming laptop has backlit keys which are in blue. This comes in handy in dim lighting scenarios. The keys have a travel distance of 1.5mm aiding in a comfortable typing experience.

The touchpad on the laptop is a big one and it also has Windows precision drivers support for excellent multi-finger gesture feedback.

For thermals, Lenovo has included dual-action fans and built-in dual vents to keep the laptop from overheating. The Ideapad also has a heatsink which will keep the temperature of the CPU and GPU under control.

The laptop has been put through various military specification tests to show its durability and power.

Connectivity Options

Headphone jack
RJ45
2 x USB 3.2 ports
1 x USB Type C port
1 x HDMI port

Processor and Performance

The Ideapad Gaming 3 is a really powerful laptop, equipped with the 4th Gen Ryzen 5 4600H processor. With this processor, you will be able to blaze through tasks without a problem.

The laptop comes with 8GB DDR4 RAM with which you will be able to multi-task with ease and also alternate between completing your work and playing games without a break.

For hardcore gaming enthusiasts, the Ideapad comes pack with the Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti, so you can enjoy your games at the highest settings without any lag or stuttering.

The GTX 1650 Ti has dedicated 4GB GDDR6 VRAM for the best performance.

Storage in the Ideapad isn’t much of a concern considering the 1TB HDD and you also get a 256 GB SSD which should increase the bootup speed of your laptop considerably and if games are stored on the SSD then loading times will be significantly less.

This laptop has Dolby Audio support for a surround sound experience.

The Dolby Audio provides you with crystal clear audio. Watching movies, and listening to songs will be quite a good experience on this laptop.

Even though the laptop has dual action fans and a heat sink, it is still recommended to use an external cooler for maximum performance during gaming as the fan speed cannot be boosted when required.

Display

The laptop comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD 1920×1080 pixel IPS Display and has a 60Hz refresh rate. There is another variant of the same laptop that has a higher refresh rate but it comes with an increased price tag.

The colours on the display are vibrant and the contrast levels look decent enough for the most part. This display has a peak brightness of 250nits which is adequate for trouble-free indoor legibility.

Since the display has an anti-glare coating, the light reflectivity is minimal and the stress on your eyes will be reduced.

The side bezels on the laptop are very narrow and this gives you a lot of screen real estate. The top bezel is a bit bigger since it sports the webcam and the chin is considerably large. Either way playing games on the screen would be a delightful experience.

Battery Life

Inside the laptop, you get a 45WHr battery which Lenovo claims can last to 6 hours of life on a single charge with normal usage.

The AC Adapter is a 135W one and supports fast charging. It takes around two hours to completely charge the battery from zero to a hundred per cent.

Verdict

The Ideapad is an all-purpose laptop that is great for professional and casual gaming needs. If you are looking for a gaming laptop that would fit in any workplace or household, then do keep the Ideapad Gaming 3 on your radar.

5. HP Pavilion Gaming

hp-pavilion-gaming
Laptop with Robust Build Quality
  • Large 16.1-inch FHD display
  • Powerful processor and GPU
  • Up to 5 hours of battery life

HP is known for its good quality of computers, laptops, and other peripherals. The HP Pavilion gaming is a mid-range gaming laptop series from HP which lies below their more premium Omen gaming series of laptops.

Build and Design

HP has gone with a minimalist approach with its new Pavilion gaming laptop. The laptop has an all-plastic body and doesn’t look like a gaming laptop.

On the lid of the laptop, we get a glossy HP logo that looks premium and classy.

The hinge operation on the laptop is exceptionally smooth and can be opened up with one hand which is quite satisfying.
This shows that most of the weight of the laptop is in its bottom half and the weight distribution is on point. Talking about weight, the laptop weighs at 2.4kg which is a bit heavy but considering the gaming perspective, it is just fine.

The Pavilion gaming laptop features a full-size backlit keyboard with green colour LED backlighting.

The trackpad on the laptop is plastic but tracking is really good, thanks to the Windows precision driver support. This trackpad is 22% larger than the one in the previous model.

For cooling, this HP laptop has dual fans with a heat pipe based design that dissipates the heat through the rear exhaust vents efficiently.

Connectivity Options

USB Type C – 1
USB Type-A – 2
1 x HDMI port
1 x RJ45 LAN port
Headphone Jack
SD Card reader

Processor and Performance

The Pavilion is a beast when it comes to gaming – the 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10300H processor combined with Nvidia’s GTX 1650 can handle even the most demanding games without a problem.

This laptop has 8GB DDR4 RAM for all your multitasking needs which can further be expanded up to 32GB for future-proofing if required.

The GTX 1650 GPU has dedicated 4GB DDR6 VRAM.

For storage on the laptop sadly we only get a 1TB HDD but fret not as there is an expansion slot for SSD available.

However, we wish that HP had included an SSD storage option on board.

The speakers on this Pavilion gaming laptop are tuned by Bang & Olufsen. The speakers sound crisp but unfortunately, they are not that loud so it is recommended to use a headphone while gaming.

You also get access to the Omen command centre on the Pavilion gaming laptop.

This lets you prioritize your tasks and split networks across two data streams, so you can use WiFi and ethernet simultaneously.

Display

On this Pavilion gaming laptop, you get a 16.1-inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution display, which is significantly larger than the 15.6-inch display in the previous models.

This display provides you with 7% more viewing area than the previous Pavilion model thanks to the micro-edge bezel display.

The bezels are really small on the laptop so you get a wider viewing angle and enjoy more screen real estate.

The colours and dynamic range of this panel are impressive. The visuals and text appear much sharper and clean despite the larger display size.

Battery Life

This gaming laptop is powered by a 3-cell 52.5WHr Lithium-ion battery which is rated to last up to 5 hours on a single full charge.

Gaming on the laptop is recommended to be done with the charger connected for the best performance.

A 150W Smart AC Adapter is bundled in the box and has support for fast charging.

Verdict

The all-new HP Pavilion gaming laptop is a great choice for professionals and gamers alike.

This machine is quite powerful and it also has a much larger display than most of the laptops on the list, so if you are in search of a versatile laptop for gaming as well as media consumption, this is a good choice.

6. MSI Alpha 15

Feature-Rich Gaming Laptop
  • Excellent gaming performance
  • Provision for hardware upgradability
  • Decent FHD IPS display

Micro-Star International better known as MSI is a Taiwanese multinational corporation. They have been part of the gaming community for quite some time, they manufacture laptops, computers, graphic cards, and other peripherals.

The MSI Alpha 15 is one of their mid-range gaming laptops priced under rs.70,000 available for purchase in the Indian market.

Build and Design

The Alpha 15 is a hardcore gaming laptop for gaming enthusiasts.

The lid on the laptop is made of aluminium while the rest of the laptop is made of plastic. On the lid, you also get the green phoenix logo.

MSI claims that the laptop has revolutionary cooling with seven heat pipes that keep CPU and GPU cool even with long intensive gaming sessions.

The exhaust vents are placed towards the rear section of the laptop, which blows out the hot air. At the bottom, we have huge air intake vents as well.

The keyboard on the laptop is a steel series per-key RGB gaming keyboard. This allows you to customize the colour of every key. This is quite a nice feature for RGB keyboard fanatics.

The trackpad on the laptop is also really functional. It supports Windows precision drivers for enhanced multi-finger gesture support but it is a bit small in size. You also get clickable left and right buttons with the trackpad.

Connectivity Options

3 x Type A USB 3.2 ports
1 x Type C USB ports
1 x HDMI port
RJ45
Headphone Jack
Mic In
SD Card reader

Processor and Performance

The Alpha 15 gaming laptop is powered by the 3rd Gen Ryzen 7 Quad Core 3750H. This isn’t the latest Ryzen processor but fret not. Combined with the AMD Radeon RX 5500M 4GB GDDR6 graphics card, the Alpha 15 is one hell of a mobile powerhouse.

The laptop should be able to blaze through games without a hitch. You Won’t notice any lag or stuttering while playing the most modern and graphically intensive games.

The laptop has 16 GB of DDR4 RAM which is a lot for a mid-range gaming laptop and is more than enough for multitasking and gaming.

But if you want more, you can also expand the RAM up to a whopping 64GB, if 32GB of RAM is considered overkill then we are out of words for 64GB.

For storage options on the laptop, you get a combination of 1TB HDD and 256GB SSD.

The SSD should considerably increase the bootup speed of the laptop while decreasing the loading time in games.

MSI claims to have upgraded their speakers and has Hi-res audio support but to be honest the speakers on the laptop are still pretty average. They aren’t the loudest or cleanest sounding and you are better off using your headphones.

The Dragon Center software on the laptop also lets you customize your laptop to fit your gaming needs.

Display

The MSI Alpha 15 has a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel display with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The enhanced refresh rate will let you play games like CS GO at really high FPS buttery smooth which would give you an edge over other players.

Being an IPS display, the viewing angles on the laptop are great with no noticeable colour shifts when viewed from the sides.

The bezels on the laptop are narrow and offer an immersive media consumption as well as a gaming experience.

Battery Life

Powered by a 6-cell 51Whr Li-ion battery, the battery life on the device is not that great. You can get up to 4 hours of battery life on normal usage.

A 180W charging brick is included in the box that juices up the battery within 2-2.15 hours.

Verdict

If you are someone who is looking for a powerful gaming laptop and won’t settle for anything less, the MSI Alpha 15 is the laptop for you.

With the combination of AMD’s processor and graphics card, this laptop is one of the best in class when it comes to gaming performance.

7. Acer Predator Triton 300

acer-predator-trito- 300
Value for Money Gaming Laptop
  • FHD display with good brightness
  • Powerful CPU+GPU
  • Comfortable keyboard

The Predator Triton 300 gaming laptop is one of the many available gaming laptop series from Acer. The Predator Triton series is meant to be a superior version of the Nitro laptops by Acer.

Build and Design

First off, this is not the refreshed model of the triton, this is the older model but worry not as this is still a laptop that is worthy of your attention.

The Triton 300 has an all-metal build unlike the plastic build found in the Nitro series.

While the Nitro series of Acer aims at going for a total gaming laptop look with all the red and black accents, the Triton 300 focuses more on being a sleek and slim laptop for professional and casual users alike. The laptop weighs at 2.3kg.

At the bottom of the laptop, we find the air intake vents and rubberized pads on the sides for grip.

The Triton 300 uses 4th Gen Aeroblade 3D Technology, these are just gimmicky names to tell you that your laptop is not going to overheat while gaming.

The exhaust vents of the laptop are placed in the rear and the hot air from the laptop passes out through it.

The keyboard of the Triton 300 features backlit 4 zones RGB. This makes the laptop look appealing and it also adds the benefit of visibility in dimly lit environments.

Connectivity Options

1 x USB 2.0 port
2 x USB 3.1 ports
1 xType C USB 3.1 port
1 x RJ45 LAN port
1 x HDMI port
Headphone jack

Processor and Performance

The processor used in the Triton is the 9th Gen Intel Core i5 9300H. This isn’t the latest generation of processors and there also is a refreshed version of the Triton as mentioned earlier with the newer processor but it comes at a much higher price tag.

But fret not because the 9th Gen i5 processor is still great and should handle all tasks thrown at it without breaking a sweat.

The graphics card on Triton is the Nvidia GTX 1650 with 4GB of dedicated VRAM. This graphics card is capable of handling all modern games at medium to high settings and will let you enjoy your games without lag.

For your multitasking, the Acer Predator laptop comes equipped with 8GB DDR4 RAM which can, later on, be expanded up to 32GB if needed.

Speaking of storage, what we have here is a 1TB HDD running at 7200rpm combined with the high-speed 256GB NVMe SSD.

The SSD will let you boot up your laptop just in mere seconds and long loading times for games will be a thing of the past.

The Triton also has the Predator Sense software which lets you overclock the CPU and GPU for maximum performance output.

Display

For smooth gaming on the Triton, we have the buttery smooth 144Hz refresh rate 15.6-inch FHD IPS panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

This display has got good colour reproduction and impressive contrast levels to make the visuals appealing.

This panel has a peak brightness of 300 nits making it bright enough not to cause any trouble even under bright sunlight.

The bezels on the display are also quite minimal which helps in an immersive media viewing experience.

Battery Life

The laptop comes packed with a 58WHr Lithium-ion battery which Acer claims can get up to 6 hours of battery life on a single charge.

But if you are going to game on battery then you won’t be getting more than 2 hours of battery life.

The included charger juiced up this battery within 2-2.30 hours.

Verdict

If you are looking for a laptop that has an all-metal build and doesn’t want to spend too much on the more premium laptops, then the Triton 300 will be a good fit for you.

Under a budget of just Rs.70,000, the Acer Triton features a robust build quality and powerful performance that you can’t just ignore.

We started the list with a TUF series gaming laptop and we come to the end of it with another TUF series gaming laptop.

The TUF Gaming FX505DT is another powerful mid-range gaming laptop by ASUS priced around Rs.65,000.

Build and Design

The TUF Gaming laptop has a full plastic body with a brushed metal finishing which makes it look quite premium.

The backplate of the laptop has grooves in the corners that make it look like an X and this design is known as the radiating X design.

The thermals on the TUF gaming is quite astounding thanks to Asus’s very own hyper-cool technology that provides you with exceptional cooling while gaming.

The hyper-cool technology is a combination of the anti-dust cooling system and the dual hyper fans, very apt for hot and humid Indian conditions.

The Asus TUF gaming laptop comes with a full-size keyboard. The keys have a travel distance of 1.8mm that provides you with a satisfying typing experience.

The keyboard features RGB backlighting with multiple lighting modes. The colour and lighting on the laptop can be customized using Asus’s armoury crate software.

The laptop has also been through military-grade testing and has a MIL-STD-810G toughness standard.

Connectivity Options

1 x USB 2.0 port
2 x USB 3.1 ports
1 x RJ45 LAN port
1 x HDMI 2.0 port
Headphone jack

Processor and Performance

The Asus TUF FX505DT is powered by the 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor which has a base clock of 2.3GHz and a maximum clock speed of 4GHz.

For graphics, we have the Nvidia GTX 1650 with dedicated 4GB GDDR5 VRAM thanks to which you can play your games at a high frame rate and perform power-hungry tasks like video editing or rendering without putting much load on the laptop.

The laptop has 2400MHz 16GB DDR4 RAM which is plenty for your gaming and multitasking needs. But if you want to future proof your laptop, you also get the provision to upgrade it to 32GB.

For storage options, we only get a 512GB superfast M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD but you also get an empty SATA slot for storage expansion in which you can add an HDD or another SSD.

The NVMe SSD should provide you with faster data transfer speeds and extremely fast bootup time.

Display

The Asus FX505DT features a 15.6-inch FHD panel with a native resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

Unfortunately, we don’t get a high refresh rate display but if you are willing to spend some extra bucks then there are other TUF gaming laptops with higher refresh rates like the Asus A15 that we mentioned earlier in this list.

The colour reproduction on the laptop is commendable and thanks to the IPS technology and anti-glare coating you get good viewing angles without putting much strain on your eyes.

The display on the FX505DT is known as the nano edge display because of the minimal side bezels on the laptop that only have a thickness of 6.5mm.

Battery Life

The battery on the TUF FX505DT is a 48WHr 3 cell lithium-ion battery that should last up to 5 hours on normal usage.

The charger bundled in the box supports fast charging. Gaming on the battery is not recommended as you would get less than 2 hours of battery life.

Verdict

The TUF FX505DT gaming laptop is a laptop that is worthy of your attention. It does have its drawbacks like the lack of a high refresh rate screen or low storage capacity but it is also a powerhouse thanks to the Ryzen 7 processor with 16GB of RAM.
