Build and Design

In terms of the build and design, there isn’t much change in the 2021 version of the Acer Nitro 5. Acer has gone with the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it path with the design of this gaming laptop.

Build quality-wise, this laptop is made completely out of hard plastic material which is of decent quality.

The lid of the laptop has an all-black matte finish. In the center of the lid, you have the Acer logo. The use of red colour on the laptop is now minimal and is now found only around the air vents in the rear.

This laptop weighs around 2.2kg which is pretty average for a laptop and is not considered too heavy. However, it is quite a bulky laptop.

Speaking of the keyboard, this laptop has a 4 zone RGB backlit keyboard that is beautiful to look at and truly elevates the looks of the laptop especially in the dark.

The touchpad of the laptop is also large and supports Windows precision drivers which means you also get multi-touch gesture support.

At its rear are the exhaust vents of the laptop which are painted red and assist in keeping the laptop cool by expelling hot air.

In the bottom and side of the laptops are the air intake vents that take in cool air. The laptop makes use of CoolBoost technology which increases the fan speed by 10% and CPU/GPU cooling by 9%.

Connectivity Options

The following are the I/O ports on the Acer Nitro 5

  • USB 3.0 Type C -1
  • USB 3.0 Type-A- 2

Processor and Performance

Powering the Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop is the latest Intel 11th Generation Core i5 11300H processor. This is one of the latest flagship mobile grade processors from Intel and handles everything from everyday tasks to gaming to video editing like a breeze.

This processor is clocked at 3.1GHz and can go up to 4.4GHz with turbo boost which makes it energy efficient as well as powerful at the same time.

This laptop features the Nvidia GTX 1650 GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM. This GPU along with the powerful processor handles most of the modern gaming titles at medium to high settings without any problem

Moreover, this gaming laptop is equipped with a whopping 16GB of DDR4 RAM out of the box which means you can expect no lags or stutters when browsing or multitasking.

Speaking about the storage, this laptop features only a 512GB SSD. But fret not because there is provision for expandability and you can do so in the future or always use an external hard drive if required.

Display

The Acer Nitro 5 has a 144Hz refresh rate display. This smooth refresh rate lets you enjoy a seamless gaming experience.

This comes in handy when playing competitive games as the gameplay is much smoother and you can also react faster.

This is a 15.6” Full HD LED-backlit TFT display. TFT displays are notorious for their not-so-great viewing angles.

The colour reproduction of this panel is decent and the dynamic range is acceptable. The Visuals and the text appear sharp and clean without any noticeable pixelation.

This FHD panel has a maximum brightness of 300 nits which fares very well indoors. The bezels around the display are relatively thicker on the top and bottom chin but thinner on the sides.

Battery Life

Since the 2021 Acer Nitro 5 is equipped with the latest 11th Gen Core i5 processor you can expect a better battery life compared to the previous model’s thanks to the more energy-efficient CPU.

Acer claims that the Nitro 5 has a battery life of up to 8.5 hours but expect somewhere around 5 hours in real-life usage.

This laptop is equipped with a 57.5Wh rechargeable battery and to juice it up you will get the AC adapter bundled alongside the laptop.

Verdict

The gaming industry is seeing a meteoric rise throughout the world and owning a laptop capable of gaming is no more a far fetched dream reserved only for the wealthy few.

The Asus ROG Strix G15 is one of the best affordable gaming laptops equipped with the fourth generation of AMD processor available for purchase in India, priced just shy of Rs.67,990.

Design and Build Quality

The ROG Strix G15 is made out of high-quality aluminium and plastic materials. This laptop has a brushed texture on the lid and a reflective logo of ROG adds the much-revered gaming vibe to the laptop.

The tasteful curves and sharp lines grab the attention with much elegance, delivering an overall premium feel.

Speaking more about the design, the keyboard deck has an RGB LED lighting strip wrapped around the edge of the chassis that can be customized via the aura sync software.

Weighing at 2.1Kg, this gaming machine is a bit heavy to carry in the backpack, but considering it as a powerful gaming laptop, this is quite acceptable.

The hinges are robust and provide a sturdy feel while opening and closing the lid.

The exhaust and air-intake vents are well-positioned to keep the internal temperature in check and to prevent thermal throttling.

Connectivity Features:

The Asus ROG Strix G15 features the following I/O ports:

  • 3 x USB 3.2 ports
  • 1 x USB Type-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

What runs the show underneath the ROG Strix G15 is a powerful fourth-generation AMD Ryzen 7 – 4800H octa-core processor with a base clock speed of 2.9GHz and a turbo boost clock speed of 4.2GHz.

Assisting the processor in handling the graphics is the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 with 4GB of DDR6 VRAM.

Thanks to the higher clocked 8GB DDR4 RAM onboard, this powerful machine delivers exceptional performance out of the box.

Asus has provided the provision to expand the RAM up to 32GB if you are a fan of intense multitasking.

Modern games and productivity software such as Adobe Photoshop and Premier run buttery smooth on this machine with no lags whatsoever.

On the storage side of things, the 512GB SSD is super fast in terms of app loading, boot-up times and data transfer, elevating the computing performance to a whole new level.

Display

The Asus ROG Strix G15 features a 15.6-inch 144Hz Full HD IPS anti-glare display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

This is an IPS LCD with excellent viewing angles. Colours remain vibrant and the visuals appear clean for up to 170 degrees without any issues.

Thanks to the narrow side bezels, this display gives an impression that it is much larger, resulting in the immersive media consumption experience.

This panel can get as bright as 250nits, making it very much legible indoors even with all the artificial lighting around.

The colours look very vivid and punchy and the contrast levels appear satisfactory as well.

The star of the show here is the 144Hz refresh rate which helps in silky smooth visual rendering without any jitteriness.

Miscellaneous

The Asus ROG Strix G15 comes pre-installed with a Windows 10 Home OS.

This Asus laptop comes with a regular tenkeyless RGB backlit keyboard. The keys are spaced well and have a good travel distance for a comfortable typing experience.

The RGB LED lighting can be easily customized to match your personal preference via the companion app.

The center-positioned trackpad supports multi-finger gesture actions and has two clicky hardware buttons for mode selection.

Battery Life

The Asus ROG Strix G15 is powered by a 4-cell lithium battery which is rated to last around 4 to 5 hours on casual use.

The higher 144Hz refresh rate display consumes much more power than a regular 60Hz panel, so expect a screen on time of anywhere from 3-4 hours.

The bundled 150W AC adapter supports fast charging and can juice up the battery from zero to a hundred per cent in 2-2.30 hours.

Verdict

The Asus Strix G15 is a very powerful entry-level ROG series laptop that can handle most of the modern games and productivity applications like a champ.

If you are in search of a versatile laptop that can handle casual usage and productivity tasks alike, this laptop is worth checking out.

Very heavy

Dell is one of the oldest computer hardware manufacturers in the world that delivers value for money products across different global markets.

The new Dell G15 series is a much-improved machine from inside and outside which comes with a price tag of just Rs.69,990.

Design and Build Quality

Previously, Dell G15 models had a notorious build quality reputation but not anymore. This new version has the same plastic build but it is tough and will last longer if you use it with care.

They have improved the build quality for sure but at the expense of added heft. This laptop weighs 2.81Kg which is honestly not that easy to carry around.

The lid opens and closes smoothly without a problem and it does not wobble much while under a speedy ceiling fan.

This time they put a lot of vents on the body to improve the thermal performance. The air goes inside from the bottom and the fan releases the heat through the rear, left, and right vents.

The bottom-firing speakers are not the best in class and we suggest you use a pair of earphones or headphones for the surround sound experience.

Connectivity Options:

The Dell G15 features the following I/O ports:

  • 3 x USB 3.2 ports
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

Dell has used the latest fifth-generation AMD Ryzen 5 – 5600 hexa-core processor that has a turbo clock frequency of 4.2GHz.

The 8GB RAM inside is clocked at 3200MHz and there is an extra slot as well to increase the RAM up to 32GB.

The given configuration is good enough if you plan to do intense multitasking or play decent games but for the demanding software/games, you might want to expand the RAM.

To run your AAA titles smoothly, this laptop is assembled with the dedicated 4GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card.

The machine includes 512GB of SSD that keeps the laptop performance smooth and the benefits you will have are that your games will load faster and system boot-up will be quick.

Display

The Dell G15 features a 15.6-inch 120Hz Full HD anti-glare display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

This TV-like panel with slim bezels offers an immersive wide viewing experience and the high refresh rate is a bonus and provides much more fluidity.

The display has good colour reproduction and watching shows and playing games on the big screen are always a welcoming experience.

It comes with an anti-glare coating which minimises the light reflection and provides you with a clear view of the display.

Miscellaneous

The Dell G15 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 OS right out of the box and Dell has confirmed that in late 2021 or early 2022 this laptop will receive Windows 11 OS update for free.

The full-size orange backlit keyboard has well laid out keys that provide nice clicky feedback and you’ll be able to work at night.

Unfortunately, they did not implement the fingerprint scanner but it’s fine considering the price.

The asymmetrically positioned trackpad supports multi-finger gestures. The webcam at the display top chin does not offer the best quality but under well lighting conditions, you will get a decent quality on video calls.

Battery Life

The Dell G15 is powered by the 3-cell 56Wh lithium battery that provides battery backup for up to 5 hours on regular use and with intense gaming and editing, you can expect the laptop power to last up to 3 hours or less.

The 180W bundled charger will help juice up the battery pretty fast and while playing do something important make sure to plug in the charger otherwise you will run out of juice in the middle of your work.

Verdict

This laptop is chunky and heavy, but it does what it promises. You will get excellent performance, hardware upgrade options, and a gorgeous display without blowing a hole in your pocket.

Pros

Robust build quality

Cons

Average quality trackpad

The Bravo 15 is yet another gaming laptop from the Taiwanese gaming hardware and computer peripheral manufacturing company MSI.

The Bravo 15 is available to purchase in the Indian market for a price of Rs.64,990 in the Indian market.

Build and Design

The Bravo 15 is a gaming laptop with a relatively covert appearance.

The lid of the laptop is made of brushed aluminium with a grey phoenix emblem, while the remainder of the laptop is made of plastic.

This gaming laptop from MSI features a full-size keyboard. The red backlighting on the keyboard adds to the gaming aesthetics.

The trackpad on this laptop is decent sized and has multi-gesture support thanks to Microsoft precision drivers. What does feel odd about the trackpad is its placement.

The exhaust vents of the Bravo 15 have been reduced in size, although they still provide enough ventilation to keep the internal temperature under check.

Talking about ventilation, MSI claims that the laptop has a revolutionary cooling system with six heat pipes and dual cooling fans to keep the temperatures in check during intensive gaming sessions.

Connectivity Options

The MSI Bravo 15 features the following I/O ports

  • 1 x RJ45 LAN port
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Type-A ports
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • Headphone Jack

Processor and performance

The specs of the MSI Bravo 15 include the 5th Gen Ryzen 5 5600H, 4GB Radeon RX 5500M, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and 512GB SSD.

The Ryzen 5 5600H hexa-core processor has a turbo clock speed up to 4.2GHz. This processor can perform taxing tasks without breaking a sweat.

To ensure that you can enjoy modern games with top-notch graphics, the Bravo 15 laptop comes loaded with the Radeon RX5500M which is AMD’s answer to Nvidia’s GTX 1650. The RX 5500M has 4GB dedicated GDDR6 VRAM for handling graphically intensive tasks and games.

For your daily multitasking needs and smooth performance, you get 8GB of DDR4 RAM on board which is more than enough for all your gaming needs.

The Bravo 15 gaming laptop from MSI features a super-fast 512GB NVMe SSD which provides quick boot and decreased loading times when it comes to gaming.

The Dragon centre software on the laptop lets you customize the fan speed and select certain performance modes like extreme, balanced, silent, or power-saving based on what you are doing.

This gaming laptop features dual speakers with hi-res audio support. However, these are not the best sounding speakers per se and we recommend you to use a headphone when gaming.

Display

The MSI Bravo 15 features a beautiful 15.6-inch 144Hz Full HD 1080p display which is a delight to look at.

The display of this laptop has noticeable bezels on the top and chin while the side bezels are thin.

The top bezel of the display holds the HD webcam while you get the MSI branding on the bottom chin.

The 144Hz display provides you with the best visual and fluid gaming experience on a laptop. Games like CS: GO and Valorant will be able to take complete advantage of this high refresh rate display.

Since the Bravo 15’s display is an IPS panel you will also be able to enjoy wide viewing angles.

Battery Life

Inside the Bravo 15 is a 3-cell 53.5WHr lithium-ion battery which MSI claims can give you up to 5-6 hours of battery life on a single charge.

This is only true for normal usage. Gaming on the battery will drastically reduce the battery life of this laptop.

The 150W AC adapter that comes bundled with the laptop can quickly charge it in a couple of hours.

Verdict

We recommend the MSI Bravo 15 for those who are in search of a gaming laptop that is equipped with AMD’s Ryzen 5 and the Radeon RX graphics card.

HP is a California-based computer hardware company producing high-quality laptops, printers, monitors, and related hardware accessories.

The HP Pavilion 15 is a mid-range gaming laptop priced at Rs.65,990. It offers a great performance for the price and if you love the brand HP then this would be a no-brainer deal for you.

Design and Build Quality

The outer chassis of the HP Pavilion 15 is made out of hard plastic and the build quality seems quite reliable for long term use.

The black matte finish with the purple chrome logo of HP in the center gives this laptop a unique look.

Weighing around 2Kg this machine is easy to carry around in your surroundings compared to other heavy gaming machines.

The bottom of the display lid has a chamfered cut design from the sides which makes this laptop look standout from its competitors.

The front-firing speakers of this laptop provide decent sound quality but we recommend you to use the headphones for the best surround sound experience.

To prevent thermal throttling, the air of the atmosphere will enter through the bottom grill and the fans inside will throw the hot air out of the system from the rear side vents.

Connectivity Options:

The HP Pavilion 15 comes with the following I/O ports:

  • 1 x USB 3.1 port
  • 1 x USB 2.0 port
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • Multi-format SD card reader
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of the HP Pavilion 15 is the fourth generation AMD Ryzen 5 – 4600H hexa-core processor with a base clock speed of 3GHz and a turbo boost up to 4GHz.

The 8GB DDR4 RAM onboard clocked at 3200MHz offers a swift performance on a day to day use and multitasking. There is a provision for RAM expansion if you feel that 8GB is inadequate.

The dedicated 4GB DDR6 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU allows you to play high-end games and carry out graphics-heavy workloads such as video editing.

Most of the popular games like Valorant, PUBG PC, and GTA will run smoothly at 60fps on this machine.

This laptop comes with a hybrid storage system that consists of both SSD and HDD. The 256GB SSD will make sure that system boot up will be done in less than 20 seconds and your favourite games will load faster.

The HDD on the other hand will offer you an ample offline storage space of 1TB where you can store your projects, files, documents, games, and media.

Display

The HP Pavilion 15 features a 15.6-inch 144Hz Full HD+ WLED-backlit anti-glare IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

With the peak brightness of 250 nits, you will be able to see the visuals and text clearly while using the laptop indoors but the sunlight legibility is poor.

The colour reproduction of this panel is decent and it has excellent side viewing angles, thanks to the IPS technology.

On top of all, this panel has a massive 144Hz refresh rate which makes everything smooth on this display and it will benefit the games as it improves the in-game movement and reflex.

To ensure your eyes will not get stressed after hours of gaming, HP has provided an anti-glare coating on top of the display.

Miscellaneous

The HP Pavilion 15 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home operating system.

The full-sized purple backlit keyboard has a good amount of key travel which results in tactile feedback.

Unfortunately, the purple colour can’t be changed as it is a single colour backlight system and if you don’t like the keyboard of the laptop you can invest a few extra bucks in an external gaming keyboard for a better experience.

The trackpad on the deck supports multi-finger gestures but core gamers always prefer the external mouse.

Battery Life

The HP Pavilion 15 has a 3-cell 52.5Wh lithium polymer battery that is rated to last up to 6 hours with moderate to heavy use.

If you play AAA title games at 144Hz then battery l will be drained significantly faster and to do the gaming for hours make sure to plug in the bundled 150W AC adapter.

Verdict

The HP Pavilion 15 is a versatile gaming laptop that looks different from other machines available in the market. For a price tag of Rs.65,990, it offers a value for money performance.

BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

White backlit keyboard

Decent battery life

Good thermal performance

Cons

No biometric fingerprint reader

The Aspire series from Acer consists of budget notebook/ultrabook laptops as well as mid-range gaming laptops in its inventory.

The Acer Aspire 7 is a gaming laptop equipped with the latest AMD CPU and GTX-series Nvidia GPU priced under a budget of just Rs.70,000.

Design and Build Quality

Acer has kept the aesthetics the same and changed the internals when compared with the previous Aspire models. This laptop looks the same as its predecessor model that comes equipped with the third generation AMD processor.

The plastic fiber body of this laptop is of good quality but you do notice minor flex on the lid and deck which is acceptable.

Weighing at 2.15Kg, this gaming laptop feels lighter than some of the other gaming machines and if we talk about its portability, you might feel a bit of heft on your shoulder for a few days but as time passes you will get used to it.

The hinge mechanism gives the lid a smooth motion however, it requires the use of both hands to open the lid.

The dual fans inside the laptop push the heat out through the right-hand side vent to keep the internal temperature under control. If the room you sit in is completely silent then you can hear fan noise while processing graphics-intensive tasks.

Connectivity Options:

The Acer Aspire 7 features the following I/O ports:

  • 2 x USB 3.2 ports
  • 1 x USB 2.0 port
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The Aspire 7 is powered by the fifth generation AMD Ryzen 5 – 5500U hexa-core processor with a base clock speed of 2.1GHz and its turbo boost up to 4GHz.

The laptop has 8GB DDR4 RAM onboard which efficiently handles everyday and multitasking tasks with ease.

Most of the modern PC games will run smoothly on this machine at medium graphics settings. Acer has provided the provision to expand the RAM up to 32GB.

Next is the GPU – the machine includes a 4GB DDR6 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 dedicated graphics unit and this GPU is capable of processing most of the games at 60fps.

To ensure that your favourite game loads faster, Acer has given a 512GB SSD inside that will provide near-instantaneous system boot up and faster app/game loading.

Display

The Acer Aspire 7 sports a 15.6-inch Full HD LED-backlit ComfyView TFT LCD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Start with its usability, the brightness level of this panel is good for indoor use but the outdoor legibility is average.

This panel does not have a 100% sRGB colour gamut but thanks to the Acer ExaColour features and Acer Colour Intelligence that help to enhance the colour of the visuals, watching TV shows and playing games on this display would be a delightful experience.

Bezels around the sides are minimal which provides an immersive wide viewing experience.

This panel has an anti-glare coating on it that helps to reduce the light reflections, providing a stress-free viewing experience.

Miscellaneous

The Acer Aspire 7 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home operating system.

The white backlit full-sized keyboard comes with decent key spacing and travel distance that offers a good typing experience.

The asymmetrically positioned trackpad supports multi-finger gestures and there is enough space for the palm rest. However, an external mouse is recommended for gaming as it gives better control.

The webcam positioned at the top chin of the display provides a decent quality on video calls under good lighting conditions.

Battery Life

The Acer Aspire 7 is powered by a 3-cell 48Wh lithium battery that is rated to last up to 6 hours on a full charge.

However, with heavy gaming, the battery will drain quickly therefore for uninterrupted gaming, make sure to plug in the power brick.

Verdict

The Acer Aspire 7 is one of the best professional-looking gaming laptops that can be used for work as well as for intense gaming.

Priced under Rs.70,000, this laptop from Acer encompasses a powerful AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU, ideal for beginner gamers who don’t want to spend a lot of money.

Pros

Wi-Fi 6 connectivity

Bundled MS Office 2019

Decent battery life

Cons

Bulky

HP is one of the top contenders in the laptop market that competes against the brands such as Asus, Lenovo, and Acer.

The HP Victus is a completely new series recently launched in India and the laptop we have here has powerful internal hardware that promises to deliver a smooth computing performance.

Design and Build Quality

The design of the HP Victus reminds us of the HP Omen series laptop.

The HP Victus is made solely from plastic and the flex on the lid cover is a bit more noticeable than usual, though the build quality is decent.

The V logo in the center of the lid and the matte top surface makes this machine look aesthetically pleasing.

If you consider the hardware specifications, this laptop is a gaming machine but aesthetics tells a different story. No sign in the design shows that this machine is a gaming laptop.

Since we are talking about video editing laptops the looks will not be a deal-breaker. The hinge is a bit loose on this one and the lid wobbles when working under a speedy fan.

Weighing at 2.48Kg, the HP Victus is said to be very heavy, and carrying it on the shoulder will be a tad bit difficult.

Thermals are where we are disappointed the most. At the bottom side of the unit, it looks like it has so much space for air intake but if you look closely you discover that it only has cuts where the fan is placed as a result CPU temperature goes up to 100 celsius even while playing games like Valorant.

We recommend using an external cooling pad for better thermal performance.

Connectivity Features:

The HP Victus features the following I/O ports:

  • 3 x USB 3.0 ports
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • SD card reader
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

This professional-looking laptop HP Victus is powered by the fifth-generation AMD Ryzen 5 – 5600H hexa-core processor with a base clock speed of 3.3GHz and its turbo boost frequency of 4.2GHz.

HP has also included a 4GB DDR6 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU that offers good performance on video editing and gaming.

This machine has 8GB RAM onboard offering a buttery smooth performance on multitasking and you can also extend memory up to 32GB which will be required if you are planning to use resource-intensive applications such as Adobe After Effects.

Speaking of the storage, there is a 512GB SSD which accelerates the system boot-up process and app loading time is minimal.

Thankfully, there is another slot for SSD expansion and you can increase the storage capacity up to 4TB.

The HP Victus features a 16.1-inch Full HD anti-glare IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

This panel has thin bezels and thanks to its slightly large form factor, the media consumption and gaming experience is pleasant and immersive

The display has only a 60Hz refresh rate which is a bit disappointing but for editing purposes, it doesn’t matter much.

The colour reproduction of this panel is good and the side viewing angles are good as well, thanks to the IPS technology.

Miscellaneous

The HP Victus comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home OS. In most gaming machines you don’t get MS Office software for free but this HP machine has it and to utilize it all -you have to do is to login into Microsoft account.

The full-sized single LED backlit keyboard on the deck offers tactile feedback and you can work effectively in dark environments.

The trackpad is quite large though and it supports multi-finger gestures.

The webcam at the top chin of the display provides a good video quality when sitting in a room that has sufficient lighting conditions.

The speaker of this laptop is fine tuned by Bang & Olufsen but audio quality is average so use headphones to experience best sound quality.

Battery Life

The HP Victus is powered by a 4-cell 70Wh lithium battery rated to last for approximately 5 hours with normal to heavy use.

The bundled 150W power adapter will recharge the battery levels from 0 – 100% in 2 to 2:30 hours.

Verdict

If you are looking for a video editing machine that looks professional and offers the same performance as a gaming machine then HP Victus is right for you.

Priced under Rs.70,000, we like the HP Victus for its performance, however the design could have been better.

The laptop comes with a 15.6-inch Full HD 1920×1080 pixel IPS Display and has a 60Hz refresh rate. There is another variant of the same laptop that has a higher refresh rate but it comes with an increased price tag.

The colours on the display are vibrant and the contrast levels look decent enough for the most part. This display has a peak brightness of 250 nits which is adequate for trouble-free indoor legibility.

Since the display has an anti-glare coating, the light reflectivity is minimal and the stress on your eyes will be reduced.

Buying Guide for Gaming Laptop Under Rs. 70,000

It isn’t true that if you pay more you will always get good products/services. This statement is also true in the case of gaming laptops.

Gaming laptops come in different specifications which makes it hard to choose the right one for your gaming needs.

Since the technology is continuously evolving, even the most tech-savvy among us find it difficult to zero in on a product well worth our hard-earned money.

With this in mind, we have written this gaming laptop buying guide to point you to the most suitable product from an ocean of choices out there.

In this section, we will go through a list of the basic points that you should look into when purchasing a laptop under the Rs.70,000 price range.

BUILD

A budget of Rs.70,000 is the sweet spot where you can find laptops that come with either a complete plastic build or a combination of both metal and plastic.

Gaming laptops usually tend to have plastic chassis for cost-efficiency reasons. While maxing out on performance, most companies will concentrate less when it comes to build quality.

Plastic is the most common build you will find in gaming laptops in the Rs.70,000 range but you can also find laptops that feature a metallic lid while the rest of the body is plastic.

By no means buying a plastic chassis gaming laptop is a deal-breaker. There are laptops with plastic chassis that exhibit excellent fit, finish and durability.

PROCESSOR

The processor is one of the most important aspects which you should look into when purchasing a gaming laptop.

At a budget of Rs.70,000, you should not settle for anything less than a 10th Gen Intel processor,4th Gen AMD Ryzen processor, or the 9th Gen i7 processor and 3rd Gen Ryzen 7 processor. Anything else is just not worth it.

While finalizing on the processor, do note the clock speed. For gaming, it is always advisable to go for a processor with clock speeds from 3.5-4GHz.

GRAPHICS CARD

Graphics card is the other important factor when it comes to determining the capability of your laptop to run games and other graphically intensive tasks.

The recommended graphics card for the price range of Rs.70,000 is the 4GB Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti or the 4GB AMD Radeon RX 5500M. Both of these graphics cards are equally good.

You could also go for the Nvidia GTX 1650 as this would be the most common at this price range.

Anything older than the GTX 1650, like the 1050 or 1050Ti should be avoided at all costs.

RAM

Most gaming laptops under Rs.70,000 come equipped with 8GB DDR4 RAM onboard.

While 8GB DDR4 RAM is more than capable of running modern games without breaking a sweat, provided you have a powerful GPU and CPU, you can also find a few gaming laptops with 16GB DDR4 RAM which is kind of a rarity.

Make sure the gaming laptop you choose also can expand your RAM further for future-proofing.

While checking in on the RAM, look for the RAM frequency. At the Rs.70,000 price range, the most common frequency will be 2933MHz while there are also RAM sticks with a frequency of up to 3200MHz as well.

In general, the higher the frequency of RAM, better will be the overall computing performance.

STORAGE

For gaming laptops in and around the Rs.70,000 price range, you have three different storage options.

You can either go for a combination of both the HDD and SSD, only an HDD or only an SSD.

SSD’s provide you with faster loading times in games and also faster boot-up speeds but they are expensive. We recommend you either go for a laptop that has 512GB SSD or a hybrid combination of SSD and HDD.

We suggest you check the spindle speed, which is the RPM of the HDD if you want to go for a laptop with just an HDD. The HDD will run fine with your games and apps if it is 7200rpm. If it’s RPM is below 5400 and it doesn’t have an SSD, avoid purchasing the laptop.

Do make sure that the laptop has an additional slot for further storage expansion. This can be used to further storage in the future to extend the usability of the gaming laptop.

CONNECTIVITY OPTIONS

The minimum connectivity options you need on a gaming laptop include a USB port, HDMI port, RJ45, and a headphone jack.

A Type C USB port should be a standard for any gaming laptop at the Rs.70,000 price point. If it doesn’t include a Type C port then we recommend you find another laptop as Type C is soon going to be the defacto standard for all USB connections.

Remember that an RJ45 port is necessary for wired internet connectivity and LAN gaming facility.

Another thing to check is if the gaming laptop supports dual-band Wi-Fi. Dual-band Wi-Fi supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels out of which the 5GHz is much more efficient in terms of wireless connectivity and experiences a lot fewer packet losses.

If you plan to game over Wi-Fi, the dual-band support for your gaming laptop is as important as the dual-band router that beams the internet towards this machine.

KEYBOARD

Even though the keyboard is an important part of a gaming laptop, gamers tend to use an external keyboard for gaming because they prefer mechanical keyboards and keyboards which are larger.

At Rs.70,000 mechanical keyboards on laptops is not possible but don’t worry about the keyboard as even gamers with premium laptops prefer using an external keyboard.

Backlit functionality should be available in all keyboards at Rs.70,000, hence this shouldn’t be a concern.

DISPLAY

Make sure that the gaming laptop has a Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution as anything less than 1080p is not recommended. At Rs.70,000 this should be the standard.

You can also find gaming laptops that feature refresh rates up to 144Hz, but that does not mean you cannot opt for a gaming laptop which has a 60Hz refresh rate.

If you are into competitive gaming you can go for a laptop that has high refresh rates or else 60Hz should be fine since most AAA games don’t run at more than 60 FPS.

BATTERY LIFE

Battery life isn’t a strong forte for gaming laptops, no matter the price range. The powerful internals sucks up a lot of juice so expect a battery life anywhere between 3-5 hours max.

We recommend you to plug in the laptop while gaming for the optimal experience.

SPEAKERS

Speakers on gaming laptops are not the best sounding when it comes to gaming, so it is highly recommended to use gaming headphones.

Certain games require directional audio and for this, gaming headphones are a must.

The sound quality of the speakers is not a priority when it comes to choosing a gaming laptop.

With this, we come to the end of our short buying guide for gaming laptops under Rs.70,000 in the Indian market.

While this is not a comprehensive guide in any manner, it should give you some idea about where to begin while researching to finalize on a gaming laptop.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Which is the best refresh rate for gaming?

A. The best refresh rate is different for everyone. Usually, graphically intensive games are locked at 60FPS while competitive games have an unlocked frame rate. If you are into competitive gaming then it is better to go for displays that have high refresh rates otherwise a 60Hz refresh rate is more than enough for casual gaming purposes.

Q. Will my gaming laptop overheat?

A. Gaming laptops do tend to get hot but rarely do they overheat. If you feel your laptop is overheating you can always use an external cooler to boost your performance but usually, it is not required.

Q. How often should I charge a gaming laptop?

A. Charging a gaming laptop is just like charging any other device, you can charge it once the battery is low. Gaming on the other hand is recommended to be done only when connected to the charger for optimal performance.
