Pros

Easy hardware upgradability

Robust build quality

Rich connectivity options

Cons

Fan gets a bit noisy while gaming

Acer Aspire is a popular mid-range series laptop just like the Asus Vivobook lineup covering entry-level to premium mid-range segments.

The Aspire 7 is the top of the line gaming laptop priced under Rs.60,000 featuring a third-generation AMD Ryzen 5 processor and a dedicated Nvidia GTX grade GPU.

Design and Build Quality

The Acer Aspire 7 uses high-quality plastic materials for its construction.

Even though Acer brands this machine as a gaming laptop, aesthetically this laptop does not resemble a gaming laptop but instead looks like a regular professional laptop.

This laptop weighs 2.15Kg which is acceptable considering the powerful hardware inside.

The hinge mechanism is robust, however, the one-hand operation is still not possible. But the lid does not wobble while typing fast or working under a speedy ceiling fan.

The exhaust fan inside this laptop is silent with normal usage and heat dissipation happens through the right-hand side vent. However, the fan inside gets a bit noisy while playing graphics-intensive games.

Connectivity Features:

The Acer Aspire 7 comes with the following I/O ports:

  • 2 x USB 3.2 ports
  • 1 x USB Type-C port
  • 1 x USB 2.0 port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  •  1 x RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The Acer Aspire 7 sports an AMD Ryzen 5 – 5500U hexa-core processor with a base clock speed of 2.1GHz and a turbo boost frequency of 4GHz.

The onboard 8GB DDR4 RAM is adequate for handling most of the apps and games, but if you feel the need for more memory, it can be easily expanded up to 32GB.

Acer has included a dedicated 4GB DDR6 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card. This GPU is capable of running almost every modern AAA title available.

Not just gaming, this laptop is also capable of handling 4K video rendering, and for the content creation work, this laptop is one of the best.

The 512GB SSD storage inside delivers blazing fast speeds on data transfers and also loads the app quickly and boots the system almost instantaneously.

Display

The Acer Aspire 7 features a 15.6-inch Full HD LED-backlit ComfyView TFT LCD with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Tiny bezels on the sides give a nice wide viewing experience but the upper and bottom chin are slightly thick, but it does not pose a major deal-breaker.

The display here is well refined and of high quality. The colours look vivid, and the texts appear sharp and clear.

Thanks to the Acer Color Intelligence and Acer ExaColor features, every visual that appears on this screen will be more appealing to your eyes.

The brightness level is suitable for indoor and fares average on outdoor usage.

Miscellaneous

The Acer Aspire 7 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home OS.

This laptop comes with a LED-backlit keyboard and has a dedicated numeric keypad. The keyboard is comfortable for fast typing and even for gaming, the key delivers nice tactile feedback.

The trackpad on this one has an accurate response on touch, swipe, zoom in/out.

The trackpad is positioned a bit on the left side therefore the palm rest on the left side is a bit inadequate.

Battery Life

The Aspire 7 laptop is powered by a 3-cell 48Wh lithium battery. The Acer Aspire 7 is rated to last up to 6 hours on a single charge under normal usage but will burn down in under 3 hours if you choose to game hard.

It depends on what kind of stuff you process on the laptop; the battery life varies.

The battery charging process is also faster, thanks to the high amperage charger bundled with the device.

Verdict

The laptop is a real deal when it comes to gaming and productivity purposes at the same time.

The power-packed processor along with the dedicated GPU makes this laptop a clear winner when it comes to gaming in the Rs.60,000 price segment.

Dull paint job

The Mi Notebook Ultra is one of the most awaited laptop releases this year in the Indian market.

Priced under Rs.60,000, this laptop is one of the most feature-rich devices out there.

Design and Build Quality

The shell of the Mi Notebook Ultra is forged from aluminium and the lid surface has a sandblasted finish.

The polished body of the Mi Notebook Ultra has gone through several machining processes which makes it look premium but the choice of dull colour does make this laptop a bit less aesthetically pleasing.

Well, the taste of design and looks might be different in your case so we leave that part up to you.

The lid can be lifted with one hand and the robust hinge mechanism ensures that the lid will not wobble that easily under a speedy ceiling fan.

Being a 15-inch machine, this laptop weighs 1.7Kg which is acceptable and portability will not be an issue.

The dome-shaped rubber feet at the bottom keep the laptop firm on a flat surface.

The air intake grille is similar to the Redmi Book Pro which we have reviewed in our best laptop under Rs.50,000 article.

This grille has a slightly larger cut which allows it to draw more air at once and the single fan inside dissipates the heat through the rear side.

Connectivity Features:

The Mi Notebook Ultra features the following I/O ports:

  • 1 x USB-C port (Normal)
  • 1 x USB-C port/ Thunderbolt 4
  • 1 x USB 3.2 port
  • 1 x USB 2.0 port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The Mi Notebook Ultra uses an Intel H-series processor which stands for high-performance.

The CPU inside is an Intel i5 11th generation – 11300H quad-core processor with a turbo clock speed of 4.4GHz.

The 8GB DDR4 RAM inside is clocked at 3200MHz and it will carry out single or multiple tasks without breaking a sweat.

You can’t expand the RAM however there is a variant with 16GB RAM with the same CPU but it will cost Rs.5,000 extra.

The 512GB SSD provides a swift OS boot up and application loading. From the storage perspective, it should be enough to store multimedia files and documents.

The Intel integrated Iris Xe GPU is much improved and in your free time, you can enjoy some of the medium-sized games but keep in mind that the machine is more focused on providing a fruitful everyday performance and not gaming.

Display

The Mi Notebook Ultra sports a 15.6-inch 3.2K 90Hz IPS display with a resolution of 3200 x 2000 pixels.

The panel has a 100% of the sRGB colour gamut and with the Mi Truelife+ technology, the colours of visual and text will appear more vivid and punchy.

The high refresh rate will provide a buttery smooth experience whenever you scroll through web pages or use the laptop casually.

Thanks to those thin bezels which helps achieve that massive screen to body ratio of 89.1%.With an aspect ratio of 16:10, this display is perfect for work and binge-watching.

You can view 4K videos of youtube without facing pixelation and the display is bright enough for effortless indoor use.

Miscellaneous

As for the OS, you will get the Windows 10 Home. However, Mi has stated that Windows 11 will be available for this device in the future.

The tenkeyless backlit keyboard with a scissor mechanism has a key travel distance of 1.5mm which offers tactile feedback on typing.

The power button of this laptop also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner for quick login.

The trackpad is positioned in the center and is quite big so your finger will easily reach and it supports multi-finger gestures flawlessly.

The 720p webcam at the top chin of the display is not the best in class but under good lighting conditions, you will get a decent video quality.

Battery Life

The brand has not mentioned the exact size of the battery but they do claim a backup of 12 hours which is not possible, to be honest.

Considering the high-quality panel and other hardware of this laptop the battery will last for up to 5 hours on normal to intense use.

The 65W USB-C power adapter will juice up the laptop battery levels up to 50% in 45 minutes and for the full charge, the time will be around 2 – 2:15 hours.

Verdict

The Mi Notebook Ultra is for working professionals, media enthusiasts, photo editors, and students.

This machine is a complete package under the price of Rs.60,000, it is well built and has a great display and performance.

Limited I/O ports

Realme is a well-known brand in the smartphone industry and the company has recently extended its portfolio in laptops by launching its first product in the Indian market – Realme Book.

The Realme Book is being touted as a fierce rival to the Redmi Notebook series from Xiaomi. Is it a worthy opponent? Let’s find out!

Design and Build Quality

From top to bottom, the chassis of this laptop is made out of aluminum and it has the gray colour paint job finish which makes it look premium.

Realme has tried to keep the design minimalistic so that the laptop will look simple yet aesthetically pleasing.

Weighing at just 1.38Kg, it’s a pleasure to carry this device around.

The robust hinge mechanism ensures that the lid won’t wobble when you place the machine under a high-speed ceiling fan.

This machine has dual fans inside that helps to keep the internal temperature under check even under heavier loads.

Connectivity Features:

The realme Book features the following I/O ports:

  • 1 x USB-C port/Thunderbolt 4
  • 1 x USB-C port (Normal)
  • 1 x USB 3.2 port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of realme Book is the latest Intel i5 11th generation quad-core processor with a turbo clock speed of 4.2GHz.

This CPU is efficient enough to deliver lag-free performance while consuming less power.

The 8GB DDR4 RAM is no surprise at this price but when we saw the clocked frequency we were quite astonished.

The RAM is clocked at 4266MHz which is the fastest and as far as we know this type of RAM is only found in ultrabooks that cost more than Rs.70,000.

This higher clock frequency is advantageous as applications will run swiftly and you can switch between tasks without facing any lag or stutter.

The 512GB SSD inside improves the laptop performance with its excellent read and write speed. Apart from this, SSD provides silent operations while eating less power from the battery.

The Intel Iris Xe GPU assists the CPU to handle intensive-graphical tasks.

Display

This is where realme book leaves its competitors far behind.

The realme Book sports a 14-inch Quad HD IPS display with a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. No, we are not mistaken it’s the truth that you are getting to experience a 2K display under the price of Rs.60,000.

The quality of visuals is so sharp and one more thing to add, that panel has 100% of sRGB which means the picture and text appears sharp and clean.

However, the display has a 3:2 aspect ratio so it will be taller and less wide which might not be good for media consumption but your taste might differ.

For work purposes, this is a perfect display. Thanks to the IPS technology, there is no colour shifting when you view the panel from an angle.

Miscellaneous

The realme Book comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home OS and the good news is that brand has already announced that in the future, this laptop will get the Windows 11 update for free.

The tenkeyless backlit keyboard has a key travel distance of 1.3mm. It provides soft and silent typing feedback so if you like noise-free typing then this keyboard is just right for you.

The backlit underneath the keyboard will let you do work efficiently in low light environments.

The trackpad is positioned in the center and it registers the multi-finger gestures precisely. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner for one-touch login.

Battery Life

The realme Book is powered by a 54Wh lithium battery and it will easily provide backup for up to 6 hours on a full charge.

The bundled 65W USB-C power adapter supports fast charging technology and it juices up the battery from 0 – 50% in just 30 minutes.

Verdict

The realme Book is just a perfect compact and lightweight notebook laptop for students and working professionals.

It is completely feature-packed and for a price under Rs.60,000, you will not get any better deal than this one.

Hewlett-Packard a.k.a HP is a California based computer hardware manufacturer that sells high-quality laptops, printers and gaming accessories.

The HP Pavilion 14 is the latest generation laptop installed with the new hardware and software. If you need a completely updated laptop then this is the one for you.

Design and Build Quality

The HP Pavilion 14 has an eye-catching natural silver finish and to be honest, this silver finish looks more appealing compared to the HP 14 and 15 series models.

It looks nice but don’t get deceived by it because you might think it’s an all aluminium chassis but unfortunately, it’s not.

The body is forged entirely from plastic but they reduce the flex dramatically and the hinges are sturdy as well, so there are no compromises in terms of build quality.

The machine has a boxy design and thanks to its small form factor which makes it easy to portable, it weighs 1.41Kg and fits perfectly inside a regular travel bag.

A large-sized dotted griller for the air intake is there at the bottom and the heat is expelled from the rear vents.

Connectivity Features:

The HP Pavilion 14 features the following I/O ports:

  • 2 x USB 3.1 ports
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The HP Pavilion 14 is powered by the powerful fifth-generation AMD Ryzen 5 – 5500 hexa-core processor that has a base clock frequency of 2.1GHz and its turbo boosts up to 4GHz.

This CPU is paired with the 8GB DDR4 RAM that will provide a pleasant multitasking performance without breaking a sweat.

HP has also provided the provision for RAM expansion up to 16GB, in case of need.

Speaking of storage, the HP Pavilion 14 features a 512GB of SSD. You will get a decent amount of space but in terms of performance, this SSD will easily outperform the conventional HDD.

It speeds up the operating system loading process and installed programs in SSD will load significantly faster.

Display

The HP Pavilion 14 features a 14-inch Full HD anti-glare IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The quality of the panel is good, it has thin bezels, ample brightness level and visuals are vivid.

Thanks to the IPS technology, the colours are better than on the TN display and there is no colour shifting when viewing from an angle.

You will enjoy watching media content and doing the work on this panel.

HP has also used anti-glare coating so the user can see the display visuals clearly even if you sit under a room that has high artificial lights, this coating also helps reduce eye strain.

Miscellaneous

The HP Pavilion 14 is one of the first HP laptops that comes pre-installed with the Windows 11 OS.

The tenkeyless backlit keyboard on the deck delivers a nice typing experience and work will not be limited into dark environments.

The trackpad registers the input gestures without fail and you will get sufficient area for landing your palm around it.

Unfortunately, HP did not include the fingerprint or face recognition facility therefore you have to enter a passcode every time you open the laptop.

The webcam positioned at the center of the display top frame delivers a decent quality when sitting in a bright room.

Battery Life

The HP Pavilion 14 comes with the 3-cell 43Wh lithium battery that will provide up to 5-6 hours of battery life on a single charge.

The 65W power brick that comes along with the laptop will recharge the battery in 2:30 hours.

Verdict

The HP Pavilion 14 is a great machine for the office and business people, also if you are a student and looking for a laptop for freelancing or productivity work then go for this one.

Carrying this laptop will be a piece of cake as it weighs only 1.46Kg and you can easily take this machine to college or the office in a regular backpack.

The robust hinge mechanism provides a smooth opening and closing motion to the lid and it prevents the lid from wobbling too much while using the laptop under a ceiling fan.

Pros

Upgradable hardware

Cons

No Windows Hello login

Lenovo is one of the top contenders in the laptop industry and the brand provides value for money products competing neck and neck with other brands such as Acer, Asus and HP.

The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 is a powerful gaming machine under a budget of Rs.60,000, packed with powerful hardware inside.

Design and Build Quality

As we expected, the entire chassis of the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 is constructed from high-quality ABS plastic.

This laptop has a smooth matte finish on the lid offering a premium look to the machine and a small Lenovo tag reflecting the brand identity.

Being a gaming laptop this machine is true, heavy which is no surprise considering the heavy hardware inside.

Weighing at 2.25Kg, you might find it a bit uncomfortable to carry around but as you travel more with it you will get used to it.

The hinge mechanism offers a smooth motion to the lid and keeps it tight while the machine is under or beside a fan.

Moving to its thermal performance, we find a big air intake grille at the bottom and the heat dissipates through the dual rear vents.

Connectivity Features:

The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 features the following I/O ports:

  • 2 x USB 3.2 ports
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 is powered by the Intel i5 11th generation quad-core processor with a turbo boost frequency of 4.4GHz.

There is a dedicated GPU 4GB DDR6 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 to assist this CPU in terms of graphic processing.

Having this combo inside the laptop for Rs.60,000 makes it an absolute deal that one can not resist.

You can run Esport titles at a minimum of 60fps and editing software will run fluently.

To run the programs efficiently, there is 8GB RAM onboard managing all your ongoing tasks without breaking a sweat. If you feel the need for more firepower, then do prefer expanding the RAM up to 16GB.

With everything in harmony, Lenovo also included the 512GB NVMe SSD that will ensure that the system loads quickly and so are the applications.

Display

The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 sports a 15.6-inch 120Hz Full HD anti-glare IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

This display has a peak brightness of 250 nits which in our opinion is perfect for indoor use.

If you plan to use this laptop for work as well as for gaming, then the anti-glare coating on top will come in handy as it reduces the eye strain and by blocking the light reflection you can see visuals crystal clear even under artificial lighting conditions.

The colour reproduction is okay and we don’t see any negative effect in visuals when viewing from the sides, thanks to the IPS technology.

This large display with comparatively thin bezels on the sides offers a pleasant viewing experience when it comes to content consumption.

Miscellaneous

The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home OS.

The full-size backlit keyboard on the C-deck has well-laid out curved shaped keys with good key travel distance offering a satisfying typing experience.

The trackpad on this laptop can read single and multi-finger gestures correctly.

The provided webcam also has a dedicated physical shutter so if you are much concerned about your privacy then make sure to use that shutter.

The bottom-firing speakers do not produce good quality audio therefore using the wired or wireless earphones or headphones is the best option for experiencing surround sound with this laptop.

Battery Life

The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 is powered by a 45Wh lithium-polymer battery that provides power backup up to 4-5 hours with moderate to heavy use.

Battery life is a highly subjective matter; it varies a lot from user to user. If you are gaming or editing a video make sure to plugin the 135W power adapter for an optimal experience.

Verdict

The Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 is the best gaming laptop available at the price of Rs.60,000.

If it’s performance you are after and you need a versatile machine that can help you finish office work as well as let you play high-end games then buying this laptop is the perfect decision you can make.

Buying Guide for the Best Laptop Under Rs.60,000

A budget under Rs.60,000 will get you laptops with modern quad-core processors and powerful internal hardware which can be used for a variety of use cases from content creation to gaming to academic works.

Since there are a lot of models to choose from, it’s quite a daunting task to pick one out that matches your usage scenario.

In this short yet concise buying guide, we aim to cover the most important points that one should keep in mind before making a purchase decision on a laptop priced under Rs.60,000

CPU

Processors, as you all might know, are an important piece of hardware in determining the computing power of a laptop.

With a budget of Rs.60,000, you have access to the latest tenth-generation Intel quad-core processors and fourth-generation AMD Ryzen 5 series processors.

Certain brands are offering the latest eleventh generation Intel CPUs at this price range as well.

It is always better to go with the latest generation processors to experience better performance.

GPU

Not all laptops priced under Rs.60,000 feature a dedicated GPU inside. However, there are certain models with the powerful Nvidia GTX series GPUs available in the Indian market.

This GPU is powerful enough to run most of the modern gaming titles with high graphics settings.

You can leverage the power of this GPU for content-creation tasks such as video editing and graphic designing as well.

RAM

Most of the laptops in this price bracket, if not all come with standard 8GB DDR4 RAM onboard.

If you are a fan of hardware upgradation, it is of utmost importance to make sure that the laptop has additional expansion slots.

For gaming and video editing, it is beneficial to have additional RAM for faster loading and rendering times.

Display

Laptop displays come in a different size and aspect ratios. The two most common sizes are 14 and 15-inch laptops.

If media consumption is your main concern, it is better to go for a laptop with a larger display. Most of the modern laptop displays feature minimal bezels around the display, enhancing the immersive experience.

If you plan to always take the laptop with you during travelling, a laptop with a smaller size footprint will be ideal, since it will be significantly lightweight.

All of the laptops in this price bracket features full HD resolution and has relatively sharp-looking visuals with good colour accuracy. However, it is better to double-check the laptop specifications to make sure you are going for a more colour accurate IPS display.

Storage

Solid State Drives (SSD) are the future of storage – be it on laptops or desktops.

Laptops with super-fast SSD storage have become common in the sub. Rs.60,000 price segment. It can be either standalone SSD storage or hybrid SSD+HDD storage, both of which are equally good for the customer in terms of performance.

Never go for a laptop with just the conventional HDD storage in this price bracket. SSD laptops are faster and more reliable than HDD powered ones.

Keyboard

The type of keyboard present in a laptop depends on the variable size of the display.

Most of the 15-inch laptops, in general, feature a full-sized keyboard with a dedicated number pad whereas the 14-inch variants will have tenkeyless keyboards.

If you have a lot of typing to do, it’s better to go for a laptop with the full-sized keyboard. This is because such keyboards will have spacious keys with decent key travel as opposed to crammed keys on the small laptops.

Another important factor to take into consideration is the keyboard backlighting. The keyboard should have LED backlighting as it enables for the effortless low light usage.

I/O Ports

Speaking of the I/O ports, you can expect USB type 3.0, 2.0 as standard on all the laptops available in the market these days.

The modern USB type C is the port to look out for and make sure your laptop has at least one.

There are different standards of USB type C and those with PD (power delivery) support will let you charge the device via a USB type C cable, just as you do with your modern smartphone.

Battery Life

Windows-powered laptops are not the best when it comes to battery life. Anyhow, you can expect a screen on time of 4-6 hours depending on the display brightness, type of application running and the temperature.

Make sure that the laptop you are choosing supports fast charging if you don’t want to wait for so long to juice up the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.1: What is the advantage of fingerprint sensors?

Ans: Fingerprint sensors provide the option for biometric authentication to access the contents in your laptop.

This is a much more effortless and safer option than typing out passwords as it can be guessed or cracked using custom made software.

Q.2: Is the lack of an optical CD/DVD drive a disadvantage?

Ans. Not exactly. Most of the modern software and games are available online as digital copies that can be downloaded and installed directly from the internet.

When it comes to movies, not many companies launch CDs as they used to do in the past, and you’re not going to miss out much in that regard as well.

Q.3: What is the contrast ratio in a laptop?

Ans. The contrast ratio is a simple ratio of luminance between the brightest(white) and darkest(black) colour on a display. Higher the contrast ratio, better will be the dynamic range and more pleasing and natural will be the visuals on screen.

  1. Hi there – We are planning to buy a Laptop for personal use with following requirements,

Software – Windows 10, MS Office
    RAM – 8GB (upgradeable to 16GB)
SSD – 512GB PCIe NVMe (256GB won’t be deal breaker)
Processor – Intel i5, atleast 10-11th generation (Ryzen won’t be deal breaker)
Screen size – 14/15 inch (initially we were looking for 15 inch but 14 inch won’t be deal breaker)
    Budget – <70k

We find that HP 14-s (https://www.flipkart.com/hp-14s-core-i5-11th-gen-8-gb-512-gb-ssd-windows-10-home-14s-dr2006tu-thin-light-laptop/p/itmd73f3e7de3ca3) seems to be good fit as per our need. But after looking this post, this is at the bottom of the list.

Please suggest couple of options based on our requirements.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Amit!

The fact that a laptop is placed at the bottom of the list doesn’t mean it is inferior to other products.

Now coming back to your question, the HP 14s is one of the best budget 11th generation laptop you can get your hands on in the sub. Rs.60,000 budget as of now. If your budget can go as high as Rs.70,000, we’d recommend you to consider the Dell Inspiron 5409 laptop which satisfies all your requirements plus comes with a higher clocked RAM and a slightly better build quality.

    • Hi there!

It’s very hard to find all your requirements mentioned above on a laptop priced under Rs.60,000. However, we suggest you to check out the Acer Aspire 7 and the MSI Bravo 15 laptop that are capable of coding, gaming and to carry out productivity tasks such as video editing and graphic designing.

About the second question, it really doesn’t matter anymore whether you are using an Intel powered machine or an AMD powered one, as both these processor perform almost equally good these days. However, check the cache size, number of cores and the clock speed.

  4. Hello Bettershark. I need a light-weight and at the same time powerful laptop which does 3d rendering and multitasking without heating up. I have an ASUS K series 8 year old laptop that worked great, but now heating and shutting down issues are cropping up. Better to have the following: SSD, decent storage 1tb, decent battery 4-5 hrs, backlit keyboard, preinstalled windows and office. My budget is 55-60k. Please suggest me a the ideal laptop.

The Lenovo Thinkpad E14 is a very powerful machine priced under Rs.60,000 that checks every point you have mentioned in the question. If you don’t mind the slightly increased weight, the Acer Aspire 7 is an absolute steal considering the price tag of Rs.55,990 and the hardware package including the dedicated Nvidia GPU and the powerful Ryzen 7 processor.
