4. boAt Immortal IM1000D

boAt Immortal IM1000D

Budget PC Gaming Headphone

  • Balanced sound output
  • Good quality microphone
  • Strong braided cable
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Decent build quality

Detachable boom mic

RGB illumination

Cons

Namesake 7.1 surround sound effect

boAt is one of the fastest-growing audio product companies in India with its presence in almost all segments including headphones, earphones and Bluetooth speakers.

The Immortal IM1000D is a budget wired gaming headphone from boAt with decent build quality and sound output priced well under Rs.3,000.

Design and Build Quality

To be honest, the Immortal IM1000D from boAt is one of the best looking headphones in its price segment.

The fit and finish have improved a lot when compared to the older products from boAt and everything feels solid and durable.

The headband and the earpiece cushions are very comfortable for long term use. The support structure for the headband is of lightweight aluminium, imparting strength to the overall build.

Being a gaming headphone, boAt has included pulsing RGB illumination on the earpiece casing. This illumination can be turned on or off, depending on your preference.

The braided red coloured cable is 2m long and can take rough usage like a champ.

One thing to note here is that this gaming headphone from boAt has a USB Type-A endpin and not the regular 3.5mm jack. If you plan to use it with a smartphone, you will have to purchase an adapter.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The boAt Immortal IM1000D houses 50mm speaker drivers tuned to deliver a pleasant bass-heavy sound signature.

While the bass notes are not that pronounced, it feels realistic and deep. This followed by the crisp vocals and clean highs makes the Immortal IM1000D a headphone with balanced sound output.

boAt advertises the 7.1 surround sound feature but it’s not true surround sound but a virtual surround effect that isn’t anything much to write about.

Miscellaneous

boAt provides a dedicated, detachable boom mic in the box along with the internal mic on the remote.

The boom mic delivers much better voice call quality compared to the internal one.

You can also customize the audio output and other features via the boAt Plugin labz software.

Verdict

If you are after a budget wired gaming headphone priced reasonably, then the boAt Immortal IM1000D is a good choice.

The decent build quality and the comfort fit design makes it a worthy purchase for a budget under Rs.3,000.

  • Studio quality sound output
  • Decent passive noise cancellation
  • DJ monitoring headphone
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Robust build quality

Self-adjusting headband

Comfort-fit design

Cons

Not ideal for use with entry-level smartphones

AKG is a sub-brand of Samsung owned audio company Harman.

The Pro Audio K92 from AKG is a reference studio monitor headphone currently retailing in the Indian market for just Rs.2,999.

The closed-back design of this wired headphone provides decent passive noise cancellation, resulting in a calm and serene music listening experience.

Sound Quality

The AKG Pro Audio K92 comes with 40mm neodymium speaker drivers with a flat sound signature.

These speakers will let you listen to the music as close to the sound quality from the recording studio. The bass, vocals and treble notes complement each other very well to provide a pleasant sound output quality.

Even while listening to music at high volume levels, there are no noticeable sound distortions to hinder the experience.

Miscellaneous

The AKG Pro Audio K92 comes with a 3m long non-detachable cable. This cable is too lengthy in our opinion as it becomes a hassle to use at times.

Since there is no inline-microphone on this headphone, you can’t do hands-free voice calls.

Verdict

The AKG Pro Audio K92 is a well-built studio monitoring headphone with a flat sound signature.

    • Hi Aditya!

The AKG K52 (Link – http://fkrt.it/kZbnu8uuuN) and the AKG K72 ( Link – https://amzn.to/3aJ7CCA) has almost exactly similar sound signature. The slight advantage of the K72 over the K52 is that the former has a slightly longer connecting cable than the latter. The loudness level and the wearing comfort is almost identical with these two wired headphones – nothing worth a difference of Rs.500 extra to pay for.

  1. Hi team, can you compare Oneodio Pro 10 and Oneodio A71. Pro 10 has issues with the comfort while A71 is more comfortable i guess due to its cushion size and A71 has 40mm driver compared to pro10. my priority is sound and comfort. please suggest your opinion 🙂
    thanks.

    • Hi Aditya!

The main difference between the OneOdio Pro 10 (Link – https://amzn.to/3pcEojH) and the OneOdio A71 (Link – https://amzn.to/37975YD) is the size of the speaker drivers. Even though they are 50mm and 40mm respectively, it doesn’t change much in terms of the final audio output quality. The issue with cushioning depends on the size of your ears and the fact if you use specs or not. The cushioning on both these headphones are almost similar and feels quite comfortable to wear. If you use specs, these cushions might feel a bit more tighter on your ears. We honestly feel that paying around Rs.700 for the OneOdio A71 over the OneOdio Pro 10 is not that worth.
