The iPhone 13 Pro Max is the latest iteration of the much-awaited iPhone refresh this year.

Let’s see if the Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max is a good value for money or not and a worthy replacement for the 12 Pro Max. .

Design and Build Quality

The design of the iPhone 13 Pro Max hasn’t changed much when compared with its predecessor. As expected, the build quality and the overall fit and finish is top notch.

The glass sandwich design with a stainless steel frame in the middle feels solid in the hands. This along with the slightly bigger battery inside has made the iPhone Pro Max has made it bulky at 240g.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max comes certified with IP68 dust and water resistance, making it more of an all-weather smartphone.

The power button is one the right side and the volume adjustment and mute slider provided at the left side of the middle frame.

The bottom section houses the speaker and the familiar lightning port. Even though the size of the notch has been reduced, this smartphone keeps the Face ID feature for quick handsfree login.

Display

The only major difference between the displays of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the 13Pro Max is the 120Hz refresh rate.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch 120Hz QHD Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels.

This tall and thin bezel display is excellent for regular use, gaming and media consumption.

The high refresh rate of this smartphone is adaptive which means it regulates the refresh rate from 10 – 120Hz based on your use to provide an efficient battery life along with a smooth scrolling experience.

With the peak brightness of 1200 nits, this display is a joy to use both indoors as well as outdoors.

The colour reproduction is on par and is one of the best to be experienced on a mobile device. The blacks appear inky deep thanks to the OLED panel and also it is plenty sharp.

The display has scratch-resistant ceramic glass on top which keeps the display fresh and new all the time no matter how roughly you use it.

Processor and Performance

What is improved in the iPhone 13 Pro Max is its performance.

This expensive iPhone 13 Pro Max is powered by the Apple A15 bionic that is designed on 5-nm architecture.

They also added one more core to the GPU as well – previously it was quad-core GPU but inside this beast they’ve implanted a penta-core CPU which provides astounding graphics performance.

Performance from this phone is undoubtedly the best and you will never notice any lag or stutter.

The variant we have listed has 256GB of storage and 6GB of RAM and it costs Rs.1,39,990.

However, if your budget is under Rs.1,00,000 then go for the Apple iPhone 13 Mini 256GB variant. It is priced at Rs.79,990 and if you have a budget of more than Rs.1,50,000 then buy the pro max model with 1TB internal storage.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max comes pre-installed with the iOS 15 OS which is the latest from Apple and it runs smoothly.

Camera

The camera setup is the ditto copy of iPhone 12 Pro Max and not just the setup, the sensors are the same but with a minor difference in aperture size.

It has a quad setup camera at the back. The 12MP main camera with f/1.5 now captures a bit more accurate photos compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The dynamic range is wide, colours are true-to-life and sharpness is great.

Next is the 12MP ultrawide sensor and it has a big leap in terms of aperture – it passes more light through the sensor and offers amazing final results.

The 12MP telephoto lens provides 3x optical zoom and this sensor maintains the same level of image quality as the main camera.

You can use the ultrawide as a macro sensor as well and close-up shots look impressive.

The device can click photos at night as well but the results are not too astonishing but you do get photos with minimal noise.

Speaking of video recording, you can record videos in 4K without a problem and there is a cinematic mode which lets you shoot a short film and creative videos.

The 12MP selfie camera takes likable selfies that have excellent exposure and dynamic range.

Battery Life

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is powered by the 4352mAh lithium battery and it will provide battery backup for up to an entire day with normal to intense use.

There is hardly anybody who doesn’t know that Apple has removed the charger from the box and you have to buy it separately.

It supports up to 27W of fast charging and it also has support for MagSafe wireless charging.

Verdict

So, should you upgrade to the iPhone 13 Pro Max? Well if you own any 12 series smartphone then there’s no need however, if you are on lower series like 11,10 or 8 then it’s time to upgrade to iPhone 13 Pro Max.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is a complete package a user can ask for; however, the price to get those features is also pretty high.

Cons

Foldable phones are a niche category that very few smartphone manufacturers have experimented with till date.

The new Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G is one of the best smartphones if you do intense multitasking.

Design and Build Quality

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G is the same as its Fold predecessor variant but with minor changes here and there.

This device has Corning Gorilla glass victus protection on the inside and outside. The frames are made out of aluminium so the overall build quality is sturdy.

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G has an IPX8 rating which means the device is water-resistant which in our opinion is the most important upgrade in a foldable smartphone.

This smartphone has dual speakers that provide a surround sound experience and the audio output is loud with no issue in the bass – mids, and treble.

Compared to Fold 2 the new model is slightly lightweight which is good for the users. One more improved feature is that the device now has slots for dual physical SIM cards.

The only thing we don’t like is the design of the camera module – it is much better on Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G, however, your taste might be different.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G comes with two displays, one in the front and the other one can be seen after unfolding the device.

Before diving into the display quality, Samsung has enabled the S pen support for this device but you have to purchase it separately.

Let’s begin with the one we see on the front. It’s a 6.2-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 832 x 2268 pixels.

Surprisingly, the front display is no longer the standard 60Hz refresh rate panel like its predecessor. With the improved 120Hz panel you will feel that butter-like smoothness in your use.

Unfolding the Fold 3 5G, it has a 7.6-inch 120Hz QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 1768 x 2208 pixels.

The is one of the most colourful displays available in the market, and for media enthusiasts, this display is nothing less than a blessing.

It is brighter, sharper and for multitasking purposes, it is an absolute beast.

Also, it has the same ability as Fold 2 5G. If you are doing something on the front screen and need to take it on a big one just unfold the device and you will see that on the big screen.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G is powered by the most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC designed on 5-nm architecture.

The device has 12GB of RAM that will run every Android application with ease and performance remains lag-free on multitasking.

The 256GB UFS 3.1 storage will boost the application loading speed and system boot up. From the storage perspective, it is more than adequate for regular users.

This device comes pre-installed with the One UI 3.1.1 based on Android 11 OS. The UI runs smoothly and has no promotional ads but it does have pre-installed Samsung apps which can be disabled.

Camera

Samsung advertises that the camera is improved compared to Fold 2 5G but we don’t see much improvement.

It has the same rear camera setup as its predecessor. There are three lenses of 12MP (wide – telephoto – ultrawide).

The photos taken in the daylight come out good – we like the colour balance in the image and there is no issue in dynamic range as well.

The images captured with up to 4x zoom look sharp and clear but if you go any further like up to 6x or 10x then you notice pictures are less sharp and have noise in them.

The ultrawide photos are also impressive with good colours, sharpness, and details.

The front side has two cameras, one is under the display(the display you see after unfolding) and the second is on the front screen.

The 10MP selfie camera on the front screen provides good quality selfies photos.

The 4MP under-display camera is unique from the design perspective but if you think of a selfie just forget it, because clarity is not that great and skin tone looks soft.

This 4MP sensor is not visible when you unfold the smartphone, you can see it by opening a selfie camera application or drop down the notification panel and take a close look at the right side of it.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G comes powered with a 4400mAh lithium battery that will last up to 10-12 hours with normal use.

This smartphone does not have a charger inside the box. But you do get the cable and this foldable smartphone supports up to 25W fast charging like come on Samsung make it at least 50W.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 5G is the perfect device for people who make lots of presentations on the go and have so much multitasking work on the table.

It’s a nice portable foldable device with blazing fast performance priced at Rs.1,49,999.

Premium Design

Cons

Expensive

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is one of the latest 2021 flagship smartphones from Samsung that was introduced during the first quarter of 2021 in the Indian market.

This device was one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and we all can admit that it has indeed lived up to its expectations.

Design and Build Quality

Samsung has left no stone unturned to ensure that they offer a premium experience to its customers.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra has a glass sandwich design with a glass front and back and an aluminium frame in between.

Even with all the heavy-duty internals and sizable battery, this smartphone weighs 227g, which is chunky but quite acceptable.

The large square camera bump in the rear is positioned towards the left side corner. It is sufficiently thick.

This flagship smartphone from Samsung has two noise cancellation microphones at the top, volume rockers and a power button to the right and a USB Type-C port at the bottom of the frame.

Just as expected, there is no 3.5mm audio jack available on this smartphone. This device is certified with IP68 for dust and water protection. The fingerprint scanner is tucked beneath the display and it works fast and accurately.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra features a 6.8-inch 120Hz Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O-display with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels.

As you all might know, Samsung manufactures some of the world’s best displays and the panel on the S21 Ultra certainly deserves all the praise.

With an excellent 515ppi pixel density, this display is one of the sharpest and colour accurate panels that you can find on any smartphone to date.

With an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, Samsung has managed to find the best of both worlds – buttery smooth visuals and battery efficiency.

The colours look bright and vivid and being an OLED panel, the blacks appear inky deep with an excellent contrast ratio. This display can get bright up to 1500nits making outdoor legibility a breeze.

Processor and Performance

Samsung launches its flagship smartphones in India with the Exynos chipset on board and not the Snapdragon variants.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra comes equipped with the Exynos 2100 SoC which is a 5G ready processor that competes with the latest Qualcomm flagships.

The particular variant we are discussing here features 12GB RAM, which is more than enough for all kinds of mobile computing purposes – be it extensive multitasking or playing taxing games.

The 256GB high-speed UFS3.1 storage ensures the read/write speeds are excellent, resulting in the excellent everyday performance of the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 runs on Android 11 with the latest OneUI3.1 skin on top.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S21 ultra has a quad-camera setup consisting of a 108MP primary lens, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto, and 10MP periscopic telephoto.

Both the telephoto works differently – the simple 10MP telephoto provides only 3X optical zoom whereas the periscopic lens provides 10X optical zoom.

Back to the main lens, the 108MP camera is probably one of the best on a smartphone to date. The captured photos have rich colours and details with excellent saturation and dynamic range.

The fully-featured camera app allows you to explore manual photography with greater control over the shots you make, similar to that of a DSLR camera.

This smartphone can record 8K videos at 30fps. Except for the ultrawide sensor, all the other three cameras feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for jitter-free video capture.

The 40MP front shooter captures incredible selfie photos with a natural skin tone. The portrait selfies also look good with good colour saturation, details, and dynamic range.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is powered by a 5000mAh battery which easily lasts a day even with heavy usage.

There is no charger provided in the box but comes with just a cable. This device supports 25W fast charging.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S21 is a flagship Android smartphone from Samsung with pretty much everything you can expect and much more from a mobile computing device.

If you are an Android fanboy and the budget isn’t a concern, this smartphone can be the holy grail of performance.

Vivo is one of the strong contenders in the premium smartphone segment in the Indian market.

Vivo X70 Pro+ is a flagship smartphone that comes with the powerful flagship Snapdragon processor and features Zeiss optics for outstanding camera performance.

Design and Build Quality

Designwise, the Vivo X70 Pro+ is a piece of true art. No kidding, this smartphone will capture the surrounding attention with its premium artistic look.

To begin with, the camera module of this device makes it look aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Vivo terms it as Ceramic Cloud Windows as they have crafted it from ceramics on glass.

To prevent the back panel from getting fingerprints and smudges, Vivo has used Fluorite AG that provides a smooth feel in hand when you hold the smartphone.

This great looking phone weighs 214 grams and it is heavy which is no surprise considering the chassis material, form factor and internal hardware.

There is no audio jack but an earphone with the USB-C cable is provided inside the box and as far as we know Vivo is the only brand that offers an earphone with the smartphone.

Display

The Vivo X70 Pro+ features a 6.78-inch 120Hz QHD LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels.

Thanks to the LTPO technology, the high refresh rate is constantly regulated from 0 – 120Hz. It understands your use and sets the refresh rate accordingly which results in better battery life.

This high resolution AMOLED Panel has gorgeous visuals and colour accuracy and is a delight to be used for media consumption.

The display is bright enough for any type of environment. It also has a touch sampling rate of 300 Hz which makes this panel even more responsive and this feature can prove useful if you are a gamer.

Processor and Performance

The Vivo X70 Pro+ is powered by the fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ 5G SoC designed on 5-nm architecture.

The smartphone is included with 12GB RAM which is more than enough for everyday tasks and intense gaming sessions.

With the extended RAM 2.0 technology, the smartphone never gets slow. If you use intense tasks where 12GB of RAM is being used then 4GB of virtual memory will act as a RAM that makes the RAM total of 16GB so you can do a lot more.

The 256GB UFS 3.1 storage provides snappy applications loading and OS boot-up times.

The Vivo X70 Pro+ is running the latest FunTouchOS 12 based on Android 11 OS.

Camera

This is what Vivo marketed the most and we must admit, the camera of this smartphone provides unmatched performance.

The Vivo X70 Pro+ carries the legacy of Vivo X60 Pro+. This device also has optics from Zeiss and let us tell you, the images from each sensor comes out extremely well.

It has four lenses at the back consisting of 50MP wide, 8MP telescopic telephoto, 12MP telephoto and 48MP ultrawide sensors.

The photos clicked from the main wide lens turn out crisp and clear, even at night the photos you will capture have rich details.

These lenses have Zeiss T* coating which reduces the light reflection and ghosting effects.

Vivo has implemented its V1 chip that sits right next to the main processor i.e. Snapdragon 888+. This chip handles image processing and includes an improved AI system that does the magic tricks for providing the user a great camera experience.

Inside the camera app, there are several options in portrait mode offered by Zeiss which provide lively results.

The ultrawide sensor captures astonishing photos in the broad daylight and at night.

Don’t underestimate the 8MP periscope telephoto lens it offers up to 60x zoom. Well, we know not many people use 60x zoom but make sure to try 2x or 3x zoom for capturing photos, it will be crystal clear.

Concerning video recording, you will get horizon level stabilization so once the device is locked to landscape mode recording and even if you rotate it 360-degree it will record the stable videos in landscape format.

There is a mode that offers DSLR camera like settings and we recommend it to professional photographers.

The device can record videos in 8K/30 fps and 4K/60 fps so it’s just all about the camera.

The front camera is 32 MP and it captures good selfies that are perfect for posting on social media.

Battery Life

The Vivo X70 Pro+ houses a 4500mAh lithium battery inside that provides a battery backup for about an entire day with full charge.

The bundled 66W charger will juice up the battery levels quickly and it also supports 50W fast wireless charging but you have to buy it separately.

Verdict

Phew, man that’s a lot to cover about this smartphone and a simple verdict would be if you have the budget of this smartphone and you are seeking a near to perfect Android smartphone then Vivo X70 Pro+ is the one unquestionably.

Cons

Heating issue while recording 8K videos

Xiaomi started with dirt-cheap smartphones and now it is the most successful brand in the Indian subcontinent. Let’s find what this premium smartphone has to offer.

The Mi 11 Ultra 5G is the company’s pricest smartphone till now and it packs a lot of punch for the price as well.

Build and Design

This smartphone is not ultra lightweight, instead it’s an ultra brick that feels heavy in hands and getting used to it takes a lot of time.

There are reasons for its bulkiness and you will get to each one of them one by one.

It feels like Xiaomi is competing against the Vivo because it also has a large camera module and this module does not just include lenses, it also has a 1.1-inch AMOLED display.

This device has a ceramic back, aluminium middle frame with a glass front.

The elegant design of this smartphone for sure is catchy and it will attract the attention of people around.

We would like you to advise while using this smartphone, make sure to hold it tight because the most weight is focused toward the camera module and if you loosen your grip then the device will drop from your hands.

The audio jack is not there as we expected but apart from that you will get an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The device is waterproof so you can take it to the beaches or poolside without a problem.

Display

The Mi 11 Ultra 5G features a 6.81-inch 120Hz AMOLED Dolby vision display with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels.

Hands down to its curved display and let us tell you, you will be amazed with the display user experience. It’s smooth, vivid, pixel perfect and bright.

Speaking of brightness, it has a peak brightness of 1700 nits meaning you can use it under direct sunlight without any problem.

It also has the highest touch sampling rate of 480Hz which makes the panel even more touch responsive.

Since this is an AMOLED panel, the colour reproduction is out of the question and if you have a habit of editing photos and videos in a smartphone then colour correction will not be an issue.

Processor and performance

The Mi 11 Ultra 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC that is paired with the 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and offers a buttery smooth performance.

Be it high-end gaming or intense multitasking, this device can handle it with ease.

To offer the user an ultra experience in gaming, Xiaomi also added a three-phase cooling technology so you can do hours of gaming without facing frame drops or excessive heating.

The 256GB UFS 3.1 storage reduces the app opening and system boot up time considerably.

This device comes pre-installed with the MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 OS.

Camera

The Mi 1 Ultra features a triple rear camera setup consisting of 50MP main camera, and two 48MP sensors (Periscopic telephoto + ultrawide).

The 50MP sensor takes sharp, and vivid photos. While recording videos you will also get OIS support.

We loved that Xiaomi didn’t run behind the megapixels this time and worked on the camera setup.

With the 48MP telephoto lens you can zoom up to 120x but trust us, the photos of 120x are not clear enough, up to 30-40x is good but anything further any you will notice that image is pixelated.

The ultrawide is the most impressive here, it captures 128-degree wide field of view and colours and details in the photos are indescribable.

You can record 8K videos from all the three lenses but the major issue we find is that whenever you record 8K videos for long the camera module starts to get hot and it even happens with the 4K recording.

This does not happen while gaming but only happens when recording videos in 4K or 8K resolution.

The 20MP selfie camera takes good photos, a slight improvement in skin tone is needed as under artificial lighting conditions the whites on the skin tone look boosted.

There’s one interesting feature. Remember we said there it has a display in the camera module that can be used to capture selfies from the back camera.

In simple words, if you like to click pictures from the rear camera and there’s nobody you can ask then that small screen will show you the live preview when you hold the device in your hands so you can take your best shot without anyone’s help.

Battery Life

The Mi 11 Ultra 5G houses a 5000mAh lithium battery inside and it will provide battery backup for up to an entire day with normal use.

The box carries a 55W charger but the smartphone supports 67W wire and wireless charging so if you want a little boost in charging speeds, prefer buying them separately.

Verdict

So, is this an ultra smartphone? Well yes. It has a lot of features in it and to be honest, we fell in love with the quality of the display and the camera.

If you need a complete Android package then Mi 11 Ultra 5G is for you, an ultra smartphone.

Cons

No audio jack

IQOO manufactures premium quality smartphones which are more focused on performance.

The IQOO 7 Legend 5G is the latest offering from IQOO released this year and with cutting edge features.

Design and Build Quality

IQOO has partnered with BMW Motorsport for the design of this smartphone. The tagline of this device refers to “cutting edge technology meets mind-blowing speed”.

The tri-colour strip with the lustrous white finish gives this smartphone a premium look and in the first look can be mistaken for a leather back.

Usually, most of the flagship devices weigh significantly heavy but this one is light and feels delightful to use.

The vertical rectangular shaped camera design houses three lenses as well as the branding of IQOO, which looks almost similar to the Vivo X50 Pro that was released last year.

The power button has a blue colour finish which stands out in the overall design of the smartphone and along with it, there are volume rockers.

The fingerprint sensor is tucked beneath the display. Unfortunately, the device does not have a dedicated 3.5mm audio jack. You can use wireless earphones or invest plenty of bucks extra in a converter.

Display

The IQOO 7 Legend sports a 6.62-inch 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

With a peak brightness level of 1300 nits, you can use this smartphone comfortably indoors as well as outdoors.

This AMOLED screen has excellent colours and with those thin bezels, it gives you an immersive wide viewing experience.

Apart from 120Hz, the panel has a 300Hz touch sampling rate and you will see the difference when you open apps or play games.

The visuals look crisp and clear, and there is no pixelation or stutters noticed while playing games or during normal usage.

Processor and Performance

The IQOO 7 Legend is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC. This is an octa-core processor that is very powerful and power-efficient.

This CPU is paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM which helps to deliver an ultra-smooth performance on everyday use and with multitasking.

You can play every game without compromising on quality or frame rates, also, forget the heating issue as this device has a large vapour chamber liquid cooling system.

Also, you can virtually expand the RAM from the setting, and the 12GB RAM can extend up to 15GB which will result in even smoother performance.

The 256GB UFS 3.1 storage has an incredible read and write speed. It will provide quick app loading and speed on file transfer will be swift.

The Funtouch OS 11.1 developed on Android 11 OS works fine and is now much more optimized. At first, you might not like it but as you explore features you will get used to it.

Camera

The IQOO 7 Legend has a triple camera at the rear consisting of a 48MP main lens, supported by the 13MP portrait lens and 13MP ultrawide lens.

The 48MP main camera has OIS support so whenever you take images or videos and if your hand trembles a lot then OIS will be helpful.

Speaking of photo quality, the main lens in the rear works fine in well-lit conditions. The photos have good colour accuracy with sharp details.

Even in low light conditions, the photos come out quite impressive.

The image clicked from the ultrawide lens is decent. What is impressive here is portrait shots, the edge detection is excellent and the colours of the subject remain close to nature.

Also, there is no over-sharpening in the images so the photos look eye-catching.

The 16MP front-facing camera is okay, we’d say. The details are good but the images look soft and the scenario remains the same in the portrait selfies.

Battery Life

The IQOO 7 Legend is assembled with the 4000mAh battery which is quite low in our opinion, it provides backup up to 11-12 hours with normal use, and while gaming expects the backup somewhere around 5-6 hours or less.

However, if you wish to lower down the refresh rate then you can get good battery backup but then you are compromising on user experience.

The box contains a 66W fast charger that juices up the battery levels from 0-100 in just 30 minutes.

Verdict

IQOO 7 Legend is a flagship smartphone with a premium design and monster performance.

This smartphone is a perfect pick for gamers, heavy users, and media enthusiasts. Priced at Rs.43,990, this smartphone will blow your mind with its performance.

Xiaomi is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that has a large user base here in India and the company first started with budget phones and now has offerings in almost all budget segments.

The Mi 11X Pro is priced at Rs.39,999 and has powerful internals that matches some of the flagship Android devices out there.

Design and Build Quality

The Mi 11X Pro looks stunning from the back. The glass back of this smartphone gives a premium feel to the hand and the variant you are looking at is with celestial silver colour.

Now, this is not just a normal silver colour finish when light hits the back you will see different colours on the back which gives a refreshing and unique feel.

The power button doubles up as the fingerprint scanner and it surprises us that even though this smartphone features an OLED display, Xiaomi has decided not to include an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The next thing we are impressed with is the camera design. The entire camera module has curved corners and the triple camera setup is embedded inside a capsule-style design.

Like many other smartphones, this one also has no 3.5mm audio jack but a converter is included in the box.

The device has stereo speakers which give very good sound quality and the IR blaster is positioned at the top as usual.

Display

The Mi 11X Pro sports a 6.67-inch 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

The display used in this smartphone is manufactured by Samsung and it’s their latest E4 AMOLED panel that has a rich contrast ratio and vivid colours.

The panel visuals are clear and the details are perfectly readable, even under the direct sunlight you can use this device comfortably.

With the 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate, the usability experience is top-notch – both in the case of viewing experience and touch response.

Xiaomi has given Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection for this display to prevent accidental scratches and dents on it.

Processor and Performance

The Mi 11X Pro runs by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor coupled with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM.

The performance with everyday tasks and multitasking is as delightful as it can get. Even though the performance is outstanding, this SoC is power efficient as well.

Be it gaming or multitasking, this device delivers the kind of performance that you’d expect from any flagship smartphone out there.

With regards to the storage, the 128GB UFS3.1 storage is sufficient for most users and the excellent read/write speeds takes the performance of this device to a whole new level.

As for the UI, you get the MIUI 12 based on Android 11 which is the latest version to date.

Camera

The Mi 11X Pro houses a triple camera lens that includes 108MP primary lens, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro.

The 108MP lens justifies itself at this price point as the image taken from this lens turns out to be amazing. The detailing is way too good and the colour reproduction is great.

The ultrawide lens takes decent photos and the macro sensor feels like an unnecessary add-on here because it takes average macro shots.

You can record videos in 8K/30fps and 4K/60fps. The good thing is that there is a dedicated microphone in the camera module which detects the voice directly from the person who is in front of the camera. This is useful as if you have this you can start content creation using this phone.

The video has so many modes like there are several different presets pre-installed for vlogs. Another feature is where you can record videos from the front and rear lens at the same time.

Talking about selfies it comes out not quite as expected. The 20MP front shooter clicks average selfies. When you take a photo indoors there is a black effect around the border and under direct sunlight, the skin tone looks reddish. We hope that it will be soon fixed within the updates.

Battery Life

The Mi 11X Pro is powered by a 4520mAh battery that is rated to last up to an entire day with normal to heavy use.

The bundled 33W fast charger juice up the smartphone from 0-100% in 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Verdict

The Mi 11X Pro is a performance powerhouse for the price of Rs.39,990.This premium-looking smartphone is great for gaming, media entertainment, and regular use.

Cons

Oneplus is known for its smartphone which provides users with flagship quality specs at a more affordable price but in the past few years, Oneplus has been pricing their products similar to other flagship phones such as the iPhone and Samsung Note/S series.

The Oneplus 9R 5G is the company’s return to form with an affordable yet powerful smartphone. The Oneplus 9R 5G is a smartphone that is exclusive to the Indian market and it retails for Rs.39,999 in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

The design of the Oneplus 9R is nothing new Oneplus has played an Apple. The company has launched the same phone again with just a slightly improved processor and minor tweaks. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing.

So the Oneplus 9R is just the Oneplus 8T in terms of its build and design. It features the same glass back and front with Gorilla Glass 5 protection and an aluminium frame.

This is better compared to the plastic frame found in the more expensive Oneplus 9 smartphone.

The camera system in the rear is also the same quad-cam setup. The 9R does not have the Hasselblad lenses like on its more expensive siblings the 9 and 9 Pro which is not a big change.

So to conclude the Oneplus 9R is technically the Oneplus 8T with a new name.

Processor and Performance

So as we mentioned before there are some minor improvements on the Oneplus 9R and one of which is the slightly overclocked processor.

Oneplus has equipped the 9R with a Snapdragon 870 5G processor compared to the Snapdragon 865+ on the 8T.

Everything else including the GPU, RAM, and storage is the same. There are no other important changes.

You can buy the 9R in either a 128GB/256GB variant. The 128GB features 8GB RAM whereas the latter has 12GB RAM.

This smartphone is also 5G capable like its elder siblings.

Display

The Oneplus 9R features the same 6.55-inch FHD+ fluid 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels like the Oneplus 8T.

With games supporting high frame rate playback, the Oneplus 9R is a delight to use.

The display has a hole punch for the front camera which is better than having a notch of any kind.

The AMOLED panel on the phone also gives you more vibrant colours and deeper blacks so you have a better viewing and gaming experience.

The display also has an optical fingerprint scanner embedded in it. Oneplus has always provided faster in-display fingerprint scanners compared to other established smartphone brands.

Camera

The Oneplus 9R has a quad-camera setup in the rear with the 48 MP Sony IMX586 Sensor, 16 MP ultra-wide Angle, 5 MP macro lens, and 2 MP monochrome lens.

In the front, we have the 16 MP Sony IMX471 Sensor.

There is no change in the cameras compared to the 8T almost like the rest of the phone.

The image quality is the same as the 8T as expected which itself is not bad in taking pictures and is a decent smartphone for taking pictures.

The OnePlus 9R can take videos at 4k in 60 or 30fps and the primary camera has OIS (optical image stabilization) which helps to reduce shakes and jittery movements while capturing videos.

Surprisingly the more expensive Oneplus 9 does not have OIS. This quite a shocking move from Oneplus since even their budget Nord smartphone has OIS.

Battery Life

The Oneplus 9R is powered by a 4500mAh battery with unique two-section technology to facilitate faster charging.

This phone should last you easily a day on a single charge and maybe even more on light usage, but heavy gaming is going to reduce the battery life by quite a lot.

The Oneplus 9R has 65W Warp Charge and Oneplus claims that you can charge up the device to 100% in just 45 minutes flat.

Verdict

If you are looking for a smartphone that is on par with some flagships but don’t want to spend a premium price then you should check out the Oneplus 9R. This smartphone is available in only the Indian market and is aimed towards the needs of the Indian consumer.

Nightlight photos are not too great

Realme is pushing itself to the flagship market and the brand is set to put a tough competition against other brands such as Xiaomi, OnePlus, IQOO, and Oppo.

Since the past few months Realme has been polishing it’s GT series smartphone the all new GT 5G is the flagship 5G capable smartphone from Realme.

Design and Build Quality

Realme is never afraid of testing out new designs and what they did with the Realme GT 5G is just indescribable.

From a distance, it might feel like the GT 5G has a plastic back but when you touch it is a yellow coloured vegan leather that resists fingerprints, dusts particles and offers a supreme feel in hands.

We are sold to the Realme GT 5G design and we are pretty sure that you will like it too.

Weighing at just 186 grams, this device is lightweight as well and is comfortable for single-hand use.

Cheers to Realme for keeping that audio jack even though this smartphone falls under the flagship category.

Display

The Realme GT 5G features a 6.43-inch 120Hz Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This panel has a peak brightness of 1000 nits which makes this device usable even under direct sunlight.

The bezels are small in size and you will get that nice immersive wide viewing experience in hand.

The display has a rich contrast ratio and since this is an AMOLED panel you don’t have to worry about colours.

The 120Hz process the frames even faster and as a cherry on top you will also get a 360Hz of touch sampling rate.

Processor and Performance

The Realme GT 5G is all about performance and the CPU inside this smartphone is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC.

It’s a power-efficient chipset paired with the 12GB LPDDR5 RAM that offers blazing-fast performance on everyday use and multitasking.

To speed up the application loading time and system boot up time Realme has given 256GB UFS 3.1 type storage with enough space to store files offline.

Realme has used a stainless steel cooling system to bring down the CPU temperature so you can have smooth performance in gaming and everyday use.

The device comes pre-installed with the Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 OS.

There’s a dedicated GT mode which you enable from the notification panel which accelerates the hardware performance so you can get 100% performance on tasks you perform.

Camera

The Realme GT 5G houses a triple lens at the back side of the smartphone which consists of a 64MP wide, 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro sensors.

The camera is not the strong forte of this device even though you are paying Rs.41,999.

The wide camera clicks sharp and colourful photos in daylight and even if you zoom-in to the clicked photos there is pixelation in the captured images.

All the three lenses perform better in broad daylight. The nightlight photography is not that impressive however if there’s a light source around the noise will be less in the photos.

The ultrawide takes decent photos but a slight improvement in colour reproduction is desirable.

The 16MP selfie sensor maintains the skin tone well whether you are clicking selfies in natural environments or artificial light.

Battery Life

The Realme GT 5G has a 4500mAh lithium battery inside that lasts up to an entire day with full charge.

The bundled 65W charger juice up the smartphone battery in less than an hour.

Verdict

The Realme GT 5G is for the people who hate the word ‘lag’, this performance oriented Android smartphone will never let you down.

Cons

No audio jack

Motorola flagship category smartphones are truly insane in terms of performance but due to lack of marketing tactics the company fails to sell its smartphone to the large audience.

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro is top of the line model of the Edge series and is priced at Rs.36,999.

Design and Build Quality

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro has a glass-sandwich design. The in-hand feel of this smartphone is awesome but the glass does capture fingerprints so make sure to use a case cover.

The camera bump is quite noticeable so it is wise to use a case for protecting the camera bump from scratches and other damages.

Motorola has significantly brought down the weight of this smartphone to 185 grams without compromising on the battery life.

Like Realme GT 5G, this one does not have an audio jack so you need to use a Type C to 3.5mm converter fr plugging in your normal wired earphones.

Display

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro sports a 6.7-inch 144Hz OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

The display is slightly broader than the other smartphones we have seen and due to narrow bezels it feels like holding a premium Xiaomi smartphone.

If you love watching movies and videos on a big screen then Motorola Edge 20 Pro will not disappoint you.

Also, it has a support of HDR10 and up to 1B colours. Thanks to this configuration, the visuals look vivid and there is no pixelation.

The 144Hz refresh rate offers butter-like smooth user experience when you interact with the panel.

Processor and Performance

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G SoC.

This chipset is better than 865+ and with its high clock speed of 3.2GHz it offers excellent performance.

The variant we listed here comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

You will get to enjoy a lag-free performance from this smartphone and it is not just hardware, the stock Android OS also reduces a lot of load, like pre-rolled ads and bloatware.

Camera

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro has a triple rear camera consisting of 108MP primary, 16MP ultrawide and 8MP periscope telephoto lens.

The 108MP takes good photos, there’s nothing out of the ordinary but you do get clean and colourful photos.

You take macro shots using an ultrawide sensor and photos clicked from ultrawide sensors have a good amount of detail and colours.

The periscope telephoto lens delivers up to 50x zoom but we don’t think people will use that one but the image taken from its 5x optical zoom will have rich details and colours.

This device can record 8K/24 videos, and 4K videos can be recorded at 60fps.

The 32MP front facing camera takes clean photos in broad daylight and bokeh selfies are also commendable.

Battery Life

The battery inside the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is a 4500mAh lithium battery and it will last up to an entire day with normal use and with intense use you can expect it to last up to 8 hours or less.

Motorola needs to upgrade its charger – you will only get 30W which is not bad but other brands provide 44W and 65W for the same price.

Verdict

The Motorola Edge 20 Pro is for the media enthusiast and gamers who need a smartphone clean UI experience that has no ads or bloatwares.

Under the price of Rs.40,000, this smartphone is not a bad deal but there are some minor exceptions which you have to consider only if you think they bother you.

Cons

Overpriced

Pixel smartphones in India are not that popular as they are in other countries mainly because Google delays the launch of their smartphones in India.

The Pixel 5 5G is a compact smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon chipset offering great performance for the asking price of Rs.66,849.

Design and Build Quality

By the looks, the Pixel 5 5G is similar to the Pixel 4a which we listed in the list of best smartphones under Rs.30,000.

The only difference is an extra lens at the back, a 0.12-inch increment in form factor, and a new power-efficient chipset.

This 6-inch smartphone has an aluminium back and frames with glass on the front. The back panel has a different type of coating which feels like plastic but is aluminium.

Weighing at just 150 grams this device doesn’t even feel while putting in pockets and feels so delightful to use with one hand.

Almost everything is great except the rear fingerprint scanner because considering the price tag we feel that the placement of the sensor should have been under the display and not on the rear.

Speaking of the response, the fingerprint scanner works like a charm.

Unfortunately, the device supports only a single physical nano-SIM but the good part is that it also has support for eSIM.

With the IP68 rating, this Google device is water-resistant and can survive into the water for up to 1.5m for 30 minutes.

Display

The Google Pixel 5 5G features a 6-inch 90Hz Full HD+ OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

With the rich pixel density of 432-PPI, every visuals and text that appears on this panel will look sharp.

Talking about the media consumption experience, it might not be good for everyone as many media enthusiasts like to watch shows/movies on big displays.

The colour reproduction is accurate and the screen is very responsive to touch gestures.

This display boasts the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 6 so the panel will remain protected from scratches and can survive against the accidental falls.

Processor and Performance

The processor inside the Pixel 5 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G SoC.

We know what you’re thinking – paying the price of Rs.66,000 for this CPU. Firstly, this is not a gaming smartphone and the sole purpose of this smartphone is to provide excellent camera and everyday performance.

And to be honest, the device does offer good performance. The 8GB RAM onboard makes sure everything runs smoothly and you will face no lag whatsoever.

The 128GB UFS 2.1 storage also adds to the performance, the application will load faster and the speed on file copy/paste is swift.

The Android 11 OS is what you get right out of the box – it’s a pure Google stock Android with no ads, no bloatware.

Display

The Pixel 5 5G has a dual-camera setup at the back consisting of a 12.2MP primary lens and a 16MP ultra-wide lens.

These 2 lenses are capable of beating those smartphones with a triple and quad-camera setup.

The daylight photos come out exceptional but the results in nighttime photography are even surprising.

Photos clicked at night are visible with no noise and the colour looks vivid. The main sensor has OIS support so you can record stable videos.

The 8MP selfie camera provides excellent selfie results with enough details, sharpness, and accurate colours.

Battery Life

The Pixel 5 5G is powered by a 4080mAh lithium battery that provides a screen on time up to 12 hours on a full charge.

The bundled 18W power adapter will juice up the battery level from zero to full in 2 hours or less.

Verdict

If you need a premium device with a clear user experience and the price is not a barrier then buying the Pixel 5 5G is the best decision you can make.

It has exceptional camera quality and offers good everyday performance for the price of Rs.66,849.

Oppo is a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer that has been a fan favourite among Indian customers for a while now.

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is a premium mid-range Android smartphone that comes powered with the MediaTek Dimensity series SoC.

Design and Build Quality

Oppo has the best taste in design and it is visible in the Oppo Reno 6 Pro.

The device has glass on both sides and the back of this smartphone surely reflects the sunlight but it does not collect any fingerprint marks so the aesthetics will remain as it is for a long period.

We are now fans of the Oppo design and its weight reducing techniques, the Oppo Reno 6 Pro weighs only 177 grams and is comfortable for single-hand use.

Unlike the Reno 6, the Pro model does not have flat frames – it’s curved and you have to be careful that the device does not slip from the hands.

The in-display fingerprint scanner works fast but it’s placed way too at the lower side of the device so you might have to stretch your thumb many times and it will take time to get used to it.

Display

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro sports a 6.55-inch 90Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

The highest brightness level of this panel is 800 nits which is more than sufficient to use this smartphone under direct sunlight.

The display is curved so you might have to deal with accidental touches from the sides.

With the rich FHD+resolution and high pixel density of 402 ppi, every visual on the display will look crystal clear and you will be amazed by the multimedia experience that this smartphone can provide you with.

The display has a 180Hz touch sampling rate; it will be helpful for gamers who seek quick reflexes in FPS games.

The colour reproduction is undoubtedly vivid and whether you watch a movie or a series this panel will not fail to impress.

Processor and Performance

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC; it is a 5G-enabled chipset designed on 6-nm architecture.

This device has 12GB of RAM which is more than enough to run so many applications at once without breaking a sweat.

You can play any modern game at 60fps and there is a dedicated Game Mode center that provides a disturbance-free gaming experience.

The 256GB UFS 2.1 storage is enough for regular users. You can store a lot of files and media in here and this storage with high read and write speed offers swift application loading and fast OS boot up.

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro comes pre-installed with the ColorOS 11.3 based on Android 11 OS.

Camera

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro has quad-camera at the back consisting of 64MP main, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.

The main sensor performance is just outstanding – the photos taken from the primary camera look sharp, vivid, and detailed.

This camera with improved AI can also record good quality videos at night, hats off to Oppo for this.

The bokeh flare portrait video is another attractive feature we like, it blurs the common background but if you have light in the background it will look like the flare that makes the video look much better than its competition.

The ultrawide sensor can capture a wide field of view in the image without losing sharpness and colours.

The macro sensor is for close-range photography up to 4cm distance and the depth sensor will help you click awesome portrait photos.

The 32MP selfie camera is no joke here at all, the selfies come out clear preserving natural skin tones.

Battery Life

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is powered by a 4500mAh lithium battery that will last up to an entire day with normal use.

The bundled 65W SuperVooc 2.0 fast charger juice up the battery percentage from zero to full under 40 minutes.

Verdict

The Oppo Reno 6 Pro is the finest-looking smartphone that is also capable of providing excellent performance and battery life.

Not to forget that awesome display and for the price of Rs.39,999, you get almost everything.
