  • Gorgeous OLED display

Premium Design

The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is one of the latest 2021 flagship smartphones from Samsung that was introduced during the first quarter of 2021 in the Indian market.

This device was one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and we all can admit that it has indeed lived up to its expectations.

Design and Build Quality

Samsung has left no stone unturned to ensure that they offer a premium experience to its customers.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra has a glass sandwich design with a glass front and back and an aluminium frame in between.

Even with all the heavy-duty internals and sizable battery, this smartphone weighs 227g, which is chunky but quite acceptable.

The large square camera bump in the rear is positioned towards the left side corner. It is sufficiently thick.

This flagship smartphone from Samsung has two noise cancellation microphones at the top, volume rockers and power button to the right and a USB Type-C port at the bottom of the frame.

Just as expected, there is no 3.5mm audio jack available on this smartphone. This device is certified with IP68 for dust and water protection. The fingerprint scanner is tucked beneath the display and it works fast and accurately.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra features a 6.8-inch 120Hz Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O-display with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels.

As you all might know, Samsung manufactures some of the world’s best displays and the panel on the S21 Ultra certainly deserves all the praise.

With an excellent 515ppi pixel density, this display is one of the sharpest and colour accurate panels that you can find on any smartphone to date.

With an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, Samsung has managed to find the best of both worlds – buttery smooth visuals and battery efficiency.

The colours look bright and vivid and being an OLED panel, the blacks appear inky deep with an excellent contrast ratio. This display can get bright up to 1500nits making outdoor legibility a breeze.

Processor and Performance

Samsung launches its flagship smartphones in India with the Exynos chipset onboard and not the Snapdragon variants.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra comes equipped with the Exynos 2100 SoC which is a 5G ready processor that competes with the latest Qualcomm flagships.

The particular variant we are discussing here features 12GB RAM, which is more than enough for all kinds of mobile computing purposes – be it extensive multitasking or playing taxing games.

The 256GB high-speed UFS3.1 storage ensures the read/write speeds are excellent, resulting in the excellent everyday performance of the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 runs on Android 11 with the latest OneUI3.1 skin on top.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 ultra has a quad-camera setup consisting of a 108MP primary lens, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto, and 10MP periscopic telephoto.

Both the telephoto works differently – the simple 10MP telephoto provides only 3X optical zoom whereas the periscopic lens provides 10X optical zoom.

Back to the main lens, the 108MP camera is probably one of the best on a smartphone to date. The captured photos have rich colours and details with excellent saturation and dynamic range.

The fully-featured camera app allows you to explore manual photography with greater control over the shots you make, similar to that of a DSLR camera.

This smartphone can record 8K videos at 30fps. Except for the ultrawide sensor, all the other three cameras feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for jitter-free video capture.

The 40MP front shooter captures incredible selfie photos with natural skin tone. The portrait selfies also look good with good colour saturation, details, and dynamic range.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is powered by a 5000mAh battery which easily lasts a day even with heavy usage.

There is no charger provided in the box but comes with just a cable. This device supports 25W fast charging.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 is a flagship Android smartphone from Samsung with pretty much everything you can expect and much more from a mobile computing device.

If you are an Android fanboy and the budget isn’t a concern, this smartphone can be the holy grail of performance.

2. Apple iPhone 12 Pro

Apple iPhone 12 Pro

Best iOS Smartphone

  • Gorgeous OLED display
  • State of the art camera system
  • One day battery life

Robust build quality

Guaranteed OS updated

Stereo speakers

No charger in the box

The iPhone 12 Pro is the latest iteration of the much-awaited iPhone refreshes this year.

This all-new iPhone has a refreshed design, improved internal hardware and much more when compared with the iPhone 11 Pro of yesteryear.

Design and Build Quality

The iPhone 12 Pro has a glass sandwich design with a stainless steel frame in the middle for rigid structural integrity.

This smartphone from Apple looks more like the iPhone 5 series with its slab design featuring sharp corners in comparison to the rounded iPhones of the past.

However, this unique design is very striking and delivers one of a kind premium in-hand feel.

The front display has a special glass + sapphire coating which the company makes it more scratch and shatter-resistant but this is yet to be tested.

The special oleophobic coating on top of the glass also helps in keeping water and sweat away as well.

The Apple iPhone 12 Pro features a MagSafe magnetic charging arrangement in the rear which makes it easy to wirelessly charge and to attach accessories such as a wallet behind the back.

Note that Apple had taken a controversial decision this year not to include a charger in the box, so there is none to talk about.

This phone feels very sturdy in hand and the sharper edges feel a bit weird at first, to be honest.

The button placements and the tactile feedback remains the same as usual and is very comfortable to use.

The iPhone 12 Pro features almost the same display as that of the iPhone 11 pro. This 6.1-inch super XDR OLED display has a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels with an impressive 460ppi.

This panel is very sharp and colour accurate and supports Apple True tone colour technology.

It has ample brightness to be used both indoors and outdoors without any legibility issues.

However, one major feature lacking with this otherwise perfect display is the lack of a high refresh rate.

This OLED display has a standard 60Hz refresh rate when compared with the 120Hz and 144Hz displays of the Android smartphones out there.

Processor and Performance

The Apple iPhone 12 Pro features the homegrown Apple A14 Bionic Hexa core SoC which is arguably the most powerful mobile processor currently in the market.

Thanks to the 6GB RAM and 128GB high-speed internal storage onboard, the Apple iPhone 12 Pro runs buttery smooth with apps and games as well as with multitasking.

The new iOS 14.1 OS works well in tandem with the hardware inside to deliver excellent everyday performance without consuming too much power.

This smartphone from Apple packs a triple rear camera module with three 12MP sensors – a primary wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and an ultra-wide lens.

Both these primary and ultrawide lenses have Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). The quality of images and videos that comes out of these lenses are very pleasing and have natural colours and a wide dynamic range.

The videos are stabilized and can shoot up to 4K at 60fps.

The front camera consists of a 12MP sensor that delivers high-quality selfies and portrait mode snaps.

The overall image and video output from these cameras are top-notch and possibly one of the best among smartphone cameras these days.

In addition to these, there is a LiDAR sensor on the back to improve low light portrait photography and for AR( Artificial Reality) usage.

Battery Life

The iPhone 12 Pro is powered by a relatively smaller 2815mAh Li-Po battery that will give you a screen on time of 9+ hours with moderate to heavy usage.

This device supports 20W regular charging and 15W Qi wireless fast charging.

Apple claims that the battery inside will get charged up to 50% within 30 minutes.

If you are an Apple fan or if the budget isn’t an issue, the Apple 12 Pro is indeed one of the best smartphones you can get your hands on right now in the Indian market.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G

Foldable Smartphone

  • Gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED display
  • Flagship Snapdragon processor
  • Robust build quality

Intuitive One UI

Thick and hefty

Foldable phones are a niche category that very few smartphone manufacturers have experimented with to date.

The original Galaxy Fold from Samsung was marred with controversies about quality control and such, but with the all-new Galaxy Fold 2 5G, Samsung electronics have improved on it significantly to bring foldable smartphone tech into the mainstream.

Design and Build Quality

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is a significant improvement over the first one – in terms of performance as well as build quality.

In its folding state, this smartphone is as thick as two Vivo V20 Pro 5G smartphones, but that doesn’t come as a surprise considering the large foldable display underneath.

This device has a glass front and back design with an aluminium frame in between. The Fold 2 smartphone looks way different from all other regular smartphones that you might have come across to date.

You can use this device in the folded state as a regular smartphone, thanks to the full-fledged display upfront.

The camera bump design at the back of the Fold 2 5G looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20.

The quality of the hinge has been improved significantly, which was one of the low points with the original Galaxy Fold device.

The fit and finish of the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G is miles ahead of its predecessor. The hinge quality is amazing, opening and closing the phone done smoothly.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G has dual speakers and the audio quality is superb. The fingerprint sensor is located on the side frame which is easily accessible with your fingers.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G features two displays with different resolutions.

This smartphone features a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED cover display with a resolution of 816 x 2260 pixels and this display is more vertical and has less width.

When unfolded, the display you see is a large 7.6-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED 120Hz display with a resolution of 1768 x 2208 pixels.

The cover display works flawlessly for receiving calls, browsing through social media and casual tasks.

The main big display is blessed with a higher refresh rate and it’s good for surfing, texting, and using media consumption.

Saying for the quality of this display, both panels are fantastic and offer sharp and detailed visuals as well as text.

The large display offers an excellent multitasking experience, you can work on two to three apps simultaneously.

Another thing to mention is, whatever task you open on a cover display will be transferred to the bigger display when you unfold the device in between.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ octa-core SoC.

This is a flagship processor used in many premium Android devices and is proved to be a hardcore workhorse with good power efficiency.

With the 12GB RAM inside you can do intense multitasking on this device, play popular android games etc. without breaking a sweat.

The Galaxy Fold 2 5G has 256GB UFS 3.1 storage with exceptionally fast read/write speeds, further enhancing the performance.

The triple camera set up in the rear consists of a 12MP primary Sony IMX555 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture size with dual pixel PDAF(Phase Detection Auto Focus) and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).

This 12MP sensor captures photos and videos with a good amount of details, colour accuracy and dynamic range.

Following this is the 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and OIS and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor that covers up to 123 degrees frame

These three cameras offer a good camera performance altogether, which can be termed on par with the optics performance with the Samsung Galaxy S series phones.

Talking about the front cameras, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G comes with two 10MP shooters with an aperture size of f/2.2 and has HDR support.

The rear cameras support video recording up to 4K 60fps while the front cameras can do 4K 30fps video capture.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G is powered by a 4500mAh battery. Even though this might sound low for a smartphone with a tablet-sized display, surprisingly the battery lasts up to 8-10 hours.

With the 25W fast charger bundled in the box, this device gets juiced up within 2 hours.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 5G is the best device for intense multitasking enthusiasts, media enthusiasts, and content creators.

Even though this smartphone is expensive, the right users for this niche genre foldable smartphone won’t be disappointed with what they pay for.

4. Vivo X60 Pro+

Vivo X60 Pro+

Best Camera Centric Smartphone

  • Top-class Zeiss optics in the camera
  • Best in class Snapdragon 888 CPU
  • Smooth and customizable FunTouch OS

No IP rating

No 3.5mm audio output

Vivo is one of the strong contenders in the premium smartphone segment in the Indian market.

Vivo X60 Pro+ is a flagship smartphone that comes with the powerful flagship Snapdragon processor and features Zeiss optics for outstanding camera performance.

Design and Build Quality

Vivo X60 Pro+ is one of the best-looking smartphones in India as of now. The vegan leather-encased back of this phone provides a tight grip on the hand and it feels way more premium and comfortable than a glass back.

Most flagship phones are hefty but this one here is a lightweight smartphone and it sits comfortably inside the pocket.

The fingerprint scanner is placed underneath the display and the sensor is very responsive to touch.

Everything in design and build quality is near to perfect but there are two things that this smartphone lacks. First, there is no IP rating for this smartphone and second, the audio jack is missing.

The power button is located on the right side of the frame and it has a nice textured finish and the volume rockers can be found there as well.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ features a 6.56-inch 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2376 pixels.

This panel is curved from sides and the bezels are very minimal which helps to provide an immersive wide viewing media consumption experience.

The 120Hz refresh rate will provide a smooth experience when you scroll through apps or an article; you can change the refresh rate settings to smart switch – the benefit of this feature is that it helps save battery by automatically adjusting the refresh rate.

The colour reproduction of this panel is top-notch, as expected from a high-quality AMOLED panel.

You can use this smartphone indoors as well as outdoors without any issue as it can get very bright with a claimed peak brightness level of 1300nits.

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of the Vivo X60 Pro+ is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor which is designed on the latest 5nm architecture.

This is currently one of the best mobile processors in the market offering matchless performance with excellent power efficiency.

With the 12GB RAM onboard there is no chance that you are ever going to face a lag or stutter. You can try doing intense multitasking or gaming and the performance will be buttery smooth.

Speaking of gaming, the ultra gaming mode will help you minimize the interruptions during gaming like if someone calls you it will not pop up on the screen.

In terms of storage, this device has built-in 256GB UFS 3.1 storage that is adequate storage space for most users, even hardcore ones.

This smartphone comes pre-installed with the FunTouch 11.1 based on Android 11. Vivo has been improving its OS a lot and the results show for itself. The overall usability experience is very smooth and it is almost close to stock but with lots of customization options.

The camera department is where Vivo X60 Pro+ heats the competition.

This smartphone has a quad-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor with OIS, 48MP ultrawide with gimbal stabilization, 32MP telephoto lens, and 8MP periscope lens with OIS.

The photos coming out from the main lens look gorgeous. The colour saturation is excellent and images have ample details and sharpness.

On top of this, there is a Zeiss T* coating on these lenses which reduces reflections and provides more room for the light transmission – as a result, the image comes out clean without any noise or grains.

Photos captured from the telephoto lens have good details, minimal noise, and a wide dynamic range.

At 5x zoom, the periscope lens comes into action and it takes clear images with vivid colours and almost little to no noise.

The ultrawide lens takes well-refined photos, however, there is a hit and miss affair in the blues; it softens the blues sometimes but it happens very rarely so not much of a deal-breaker.

Using the night mode you can capture amazing shots at night without seeing much grain in the final image and compared to other smartphones, this one takes the best nighttime photos.

You can record videos up to 8K 30fps using the rear camera and ultrawide supports 4K video recording.

The 32MP selfie camera takes sharp and detailed photos without sacrificing colours a bit.

Even the portrait shots come out crisp and clear, the edge detection is amazing and there are some features you can play with as well.

Battery Life

The Vivo X60 Pro+ is powered by the 4200mAh lithium polymer battery that is rated to last for up to an entire day with normal use like taking photos or using social media.

If you play heavy games then expect the battery life somewhere around 5-6 hours as the 120Hz refresh rate is a significant battery hog.

The bundled 55W charger will juice up the battery life in less than an hour.

The Vivo X60 Pro+ is the near to perfect flagship smartphone in the market currently. From design to performance, the device got everything right.

Also, the partnership of Vivo with Zeiss pays off after looking at the results, and for the price of Rs.69,999, this device is worth buying, especially if you are into pro photography.

No major improvements in camera

We are all familiar with the ROG series gaming laptops from Asus. With the ROG phone Asus has brought some of the industry-leading mobile gaming technology over to the smartphone market, consolidating its position as a premium smartphone gaming brand.

The ROG Phone 5 is Asus’s latest flagship gaming phone which is one of the most advanced smartphones in the market that is built specifically with gaming in mind.

Build and Design

Asus has skipped the ROG Phone 4 and directly gone to the ROG Phone 5 and with it has bought in some much-needed changes as well.

In terms of its build quality, this smartphone has the same metal frame sandwiched between two glass slabs. Asus has used Gorilla Glass 3 for the back and the latest Gorilla Glass Victus in the front.

We also get the air triggers which according to Asus have now been improved and offer better performance.

In its rear, we have the triple camera setup along with the ROG logo that has Aura sync support hence it provides true RGB lighting.

With the ROG Phone 5, we also see the return of the much loved 3.5mm audio jack which was missing from its predecessor. This audio jack has support for Hi-Res audio which means you get to enjoy improved audio quality.

There are two Type C USB ports on the device, both of these can be used for charging or also connecting additional Asus accessories like the external cooling fan.

Processor and performance

The Asus ROG Phone 5 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 888 SoC which is their flagship processor and one of the fastest in the world. This chip is built on the 5nm process and provides a 30% boost in performance compared to the previous chip.

Being a gaming-focused smartphone the real magic lies in its graphics processor and assisting the processor is the Adren 660 GPU which is going to give you the best gaming experience on a smartphone.

This smartphone is available in either the 8GB or 12GB RAM variant. If you are looking for something more powerful, then you can check out the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate which comes with a whopping 18GB RAM however we feel it is unnecessary.

Storage options are also available in two variants – 128GB or 256GB. It is UFS 3.1 storage that ensures extremely fast data transfer rates.

One of the most important features of a gaming smartphone is its cooling. The Asus ROG Phone 5 is using the new GameCool 5 cooling system which optimizes the cooling of the smartphone and ensures that the temperature is always in check.

The Asus ROG Phone 5 features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display which has a refresh rate of 144Hz one of the highest on a smartphone.

The AMOLED display coupled with 144Hz refresh rate is a killer combination and is going to give you an edge over every other player.

As mentioned before, the glass on the display is Gorilla Glass Victus which is the latest glass by Corning. It offers improved protection against scratches and minor drops.

Unlike most modern phones that either have a notch or hole-punch camera, Asus has opted to keep larger bezels for holding the camera to ensure that no screen real estate is lost.

The area where it is almost little to no change is on the camera of the Asus ROG Phone 5. It sports the same triple camera layout as its predecessor and also uses the same sensors.

In the rear, we have the same 64MP primary camera, 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. In the front of the device, we have the 24MP selfie shooter.

Pictures taken by the camera are passable but it would have been appreciated if Asus had done some changes to the camera but it is understandable considering that this smartphone is not meant for its photography features.

The ROG Phone 5 has two front-firing stereo speakers and they are one of the best sounding speakers you can find on a smartphone.

Since the speakers on the phone are front-firing, you do get to see some bezels on the top and bottom but they are not that huge to hinder your gaming experience.

Battery Life

The ROG Phone 5 is powered by a large 6000mAh battery for all your daily gaming and browsing needs.

The battery on this phone should last you a day if you are a heavy gamer without a problem and on normal usage, you can easily get more than a day’s charge.

This means you won’t have to charge your phone that often resulting in a healthier and lasting battery in the long run.

Talking about charging, the phone comes bundled with a 65W fast charger to juice up the battery once it dies. You can use either of the two Type C USB ports on the phone to charge it up.

If you are looking for a smartphone that is dedicated to gaming then look no further because the Asus ROG Phone 5 is the ultimate gaming smartphone in the world. This gaming smartphone is designed for gamers by gamers. If gaming is your only priority then nothing can beat the Asus ROG Phone 5.

IQOO manufactures premium quality smartphones which are more focused on performance.

The IQOO 7 Legend 5G is the latest offering from IQOO released this year and with cutting edge features.

Design and Build Quality

IQOO has partnered with BMW Motorsport for the design of this smartphone. The tagline of this device refers to “cutting edge technology meets mind-blowing speed”.

The tri-colour strip with the lustrous white finish gives this smartphone a premium look and in the first look can be mistaken for leather back.

Usually, most of the flagship devices weigh significantly heavy but this one is light and feels delightful to use.

The vertical rectangular shaped camera design houses three lenses as well as the branding of IQOO, which looks almost similar to the Vivo X50 Pro that was released last year.

The power button has a blue colour finish which stands out in the overall design of the smartphone and along with it, there are volume rockers.

The fingerprint sensor is tucked beneath the display. Unfortunately, the device does not have a dedicated 3.5mm audio jack. You can use wireless earphones or invest plenty of bucks extra in a converter.

The IQOO 7 Legend sports a 6.62-inch 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

With a peak brightness level of 1300 nits, you can use this smartphone comfortably indoors as well as outdoors.

This AMOLED screen has excellent colours and with those thin bezels, it gives you an immersive wide viewing experience.

Apart from 120Hz, the panel has a 300Hz touch sampling rate and you will see the difference when you open apps or play games.

The visuals look crisp and clear, and there is no pixelation or stutters noticed while playing games or during normal usage.

Processor and Performance

The IQOO 7 Legend is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G SoC. This is an octa-core processor that is very powerful and power-efficient.

This CPU is paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM which helps to deliver an ultra-smooth performance on everyday use and with multitasking.

You can play every game without compromising on quality or frame rates, also, forget the heating issue as this device has a large vapour chamber liquid cooling system.

Also, you can virtually expand the RAM from the setting, and the 12GB RAM can extend up to 15GB which will result in even smoother performance.

The 256GB UFS 3.1 storage has an incredible read and write speed. It will provide quick app loading and speed on file transfer will be swift.

The Funtouch OS 11.1 developed on Android 11 OS works fine and is now much more optimized. At first, you might not like it but as you explore features you will get used to it.

The IQOO 7 Legend has a triple camera at the rear consisting of a 48MP main lens, supported by the 13MP portrait lens and 13MP ultrawide lens.

The 48MP main camera has OIS support so whenever you take images or videos and if your hand trembles a lot then OIS will be helpful.

Speaking of photo quality, the main lens in the rear works fine in well-lit conditions. The photos have good colour accuracy with sharp details.

Even in low light conditions, the photos come out quite impressive.

The image clicked from the ultrawide lens is decent. What is impressive here is portrait shots, the edge detection is excellent and the colours of the subject remain close to nature.

Also, there is no over-sharpening in the images so the photos look eye-catching.

The 16MP front-facing camera is okay, we’d say. The details are good but the images look soft and the scenario remains the same in the portrait selfies.

Battery Life

The IQOO 7 Legend is assembled with the 4000mAh battery which is quite low in our opinion, it provides backup up to 11-12 hours with normal use, and while gaming expects the backup somewhere around 5-6 hours or less.

However, if you wish to lower down the refresh rate then you can get good battery backup but then you are compromising on user experience.

The box contains a 66W fast charger that juices up the battery levels from 0-100 in just 30 minutes.

IQOO 7 Legend is a flagship smartphone with a premium design and monster performance.

This smartphone is a perfect pick for gamers, heavy users, and media enthusiasts. Priced at Rs.43,990, this smartphone will blow your mind with its performance.

Xiaomi is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer that has a large user base here in India and the company first started with budget phones and now has offerings in almost all budget segments.

The Mi 11X Pro is priced at Rs.39,999 and has powerful internals that matches some of the flagship Android devices out there.

Design and Build Quality

The Mi 11X Pro looks stunning from the back. The glass back of this smartphone gives a premium feel to the hand and the variant you are looking at is with celestial silver colour.

Now, this is not just a normal silver colour finish when light hits the back you will see different colours on the back which gives a refreshing and unique feel.

The power button doubles up as the fingerprint scanner and it surprises us that even though this smartphone features an OLED display, Xiaomi has decided not to include an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The next thing we are impressed with is the camera design. The entire camera module has curved corners and the triple camera setup is embedded inside a capsule-style design.

Like many other smartphones, this one also has no 3.5mm audio jack but a converter is included in the box.

The device has stereo speakers which give very good sound quality and the IR blaster is positioned at the top as usual.

The Mi 11X Pro sports a 6.67-inch 120Hz Full HD+ AMOLED punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

The display used in this smartphone is manufactured by Samsung and it’s their latest E4 AMOLED panel that has a rich contrast ratio and vivid colours.

The panel visuals are clear and the details are perfectly readable, even under direct sunlight you can use this device comfortably.

With the 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate, the usability experience is top-notch – both in the case of viewing experience and touch response.

Xiaomi has given Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 protection for this display to prevent accidental scratches and dents on it.

Processor and Performance

The Mi 11X Pro runs by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor coupled with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM.

The performance with everyday tasks and multitasking is as delightful as it can get. Even though the performance is outstanding, this SoC is power efficient as well.

Be it gaming or multitasking, this device delivers the kind of performance that you’d expect from any flagship smartphones out there.

With regards to the storage, the 128GB UFS3.1 storage is sufficient for most users and the excellent read/write speeds takes the performance of this device to a whole new level.

As for the UI, you get the MIUI 12 based on Android 11 which is the latest version to date.

The Mi 11X Pro houses a triple camera lens that includes 108MP primary lens, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP macro.

The 108MP lens justifies itself at this price point as the image taken from this lens turns out to be amazing. The detailing is way too good and the colour reproduction is great.

The ultrawide lens takes decent photos and the macro sensor feels like an unnecessary add-on here because it takes average macro shots.

You can record videos in 8K/30fps and 4K/60fps. The good thing is that there is a dedicated microphone in the camera module which detects the voice directly from the person who is in front of the camera. This is useful as if you have this you can start content creation using this phone.

The video has so many modes like there are several different presets pre-installed for vlogs. Another feature is where you can record videos from the front and rear lens at the same time.

Talking about selfies it comes out not quite as expected. The 20MP front shooter clicks average selfies. When you take a photo indoors there is a black effect around the border and under direct sunlight, the skin tone looks reddish. We hope that it will be soon fixed within the updates.

Battery Life

The Mi 11X Pro is powered by a 4520mAh battery that is rated to last up to an entire day with normal to heavy use.

The bundled 33W fast charger juice up the smartphone from 0-100% in 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The Mi 11X Pro is a performance powerhouse for the price of Rs.39,990.This premium-looking smartphone is great for gaming, media entertainment, and regular use.

Oneplus is known for their smartphone which provides users with flagship quality specs at a more affordable price but in the past few years, Oneplus has been pricing their products similar to other flagship phones such as the iPhone and Samsung Note/S series.

The Oneplus 9R 5G is the company’s return to form with an affordable yet powerful smartphone. The Oneplus 9R 5G is a smartphone that is exclusive to the Indian market and it retails for Rs.39,999 in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

The design of the Oneplus 9R is nothing new Oneplus has played an Apple. The company has launched the same phone again with just a slightly improved processor and minor tweaks. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing.

So the Oneplus 9R is just the Oneplus 8T in terms of its build and design. It features the same glass back and front with Gorilla Glass 5 protection and an aluminium frame.

This is better compared to the plastic frame found in the more expensive Oneplus 9 smartphone.

The camera system in the rear is also the same quad-cam setup. The 9R does not have the Hasselblad lenses like on its more expensive siblings the 9 and 9 Pro which is not a big change.

So to conclude the Oneplus 9R is technically the Oneplus 8T with a new name.

Processor and Performance

So as we mentioned before there are some minor improvements on the Oneplus 9R and one of which is the slightly overclocked processor.

Oneplus has equipped the 9R with a Snapdragon 870 5G processor compared to the Snapdragon 865+ on the 8T.

Everything else including the GPU, RAM, and storage is the same. There are no other important changes.

You can buy the 9R in either a 128GB/256GB variant. The 128GB features 8GB RAM whereas the latter has 12GB RAM.

This smartphone is also 5G capable like its elder siblings.

The Oneplus 9R features the same 6.55-inch FHD+ fluid 120Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels like the Oneplus 8T.

With games supporting high frame rate playback, the Oneplus 9R is a delight to use.

The display has a hole punch for the front camera which is better than having a notch of any kind.

The AMOLED panel on the phone also gives you more vibrant colours and deeper blacks so you have a better viewing and gaming experience.

The display also has the optical fingerprint scanner embedded in it. Oneplus has always provided faster in-display fingerprint scanners compared to other established smartphone brands.

The Oneplus 9R has a quad-camera setup in the rear with the 48 MP Sony IMX586 Sensor, 16 MP ultra-wide Angle, 5 MP macro lens, and 2 MP monochrome lens.

In the front, we have the 16 MP Sony IMX471 Sensor.

There is no change in the cameras compared to the 8T almost like the rest of the phone.

The image quality is the same as the 8T as expected which itself is not bad in taking pictures and is a decent smartphone for taking pictures.

The OnePlus 9R can take videos at 4k in 60 or 30fps and the primary camera has OIS (optical image stabilization) which helps to reduce shakes and jittery movements while capturing videos.

Surprisingly the more expensive Oneplus 9 does not have OIS. This quite a shocking move from Oneplus since even their budget Nord smartphone has OIS.

Battery Life

The Oneplus 9R is powered by a 4500mAh battery with unique two-section technology to facilitate faster charging.

This phone should last you easily a day on a single charge and maybe even more on light usage, but heavy gaming is going to reduce the battery life by quite a lot.

The Oneplus 9R has 65W Warp Charge and Oneplus claims that you can charge up the device to 100% in just 45 minutes flat.

If you are looking for a smartphone that is on par with some flagships but don’t want to spend a premium price then you should check out the Oneplus 9R. This smartphone is available in only the Indian market and is aimed towards the needs of the Indian consumer.

Apple iPhone SE 2020

Best Affordable iPhone

  • Well optimized software and hardware
  • Powerful A13 bionic chip
  • Gorgeous IPS LCD retina display

Touch ID

Dedicated alert slider button

Robust build quality

No night mode in the camera app

Apple iPhone SE was one of the highly anticipated smartphone releases last year. A handy little iPhone in this era of large-screen display smartphones is still a viable choice for many all around the world.

The iPhone SE 2020 is one of the most affordable iPhone models to hit the market to date.

Design and Build Quality

The iPhone SE 2020 has a premium glass sandwich design consisting of a front and back glass panel with an aluminium frame in between.

These toughened glass slabs come with a specially treated oleophobic coating to repel water away from the surface of the phone.

Certified IP67 dust and water-resistant, the iPhone SE 2020 is a well-built device that feels durable and sturdy in hand.

Weighing at just 148g, this is one of the lightest smartphones available in the market as of now.

Even though this device looks small and feels very light in hand, the performance isn’t compromised a bit.

On the left frame, there are volume up/ down buttons accompanied by the alert slider, which is kind of useful to instantly silent the phone without unlocking the device.

The good old power button still resides in the front lower chin and comes integrated with the TouchID fingerprint security.

The Apple iPhone SE 2020 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD+ display with a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels.

Even though this isn’t a full HD panel, thanks to the smaller size and higher ppi count, the visuals and text look sharp and detailed.

This retina IPS LCD has Apple true tone colour technology support for true to natural colour reproduction.

This display has a very good brightness level, usable enough both indoors and outdoors without any issues.

Processor and Performance

The Apple iPhone SE 2020 is powered by the same CPU that’s beneath the Apple iPhone 11 Pro – the 7nm+ A13 Bionic.

This hexa-core CPU from Apple beats even the Snapdragon 865 flagship processor from Qualcomm in terms of performance and power efficiency.

You won’t notice any lags or stutters with apps, games or even with intense multitasking with multiple applications side by side.

The performance is buttery smooth, thanks to the excellent hardware-software optimization done by Apple.

The iPhone SE 2020 comes with 3GB RAM, which is more than enough to run iOS 14.2 smoothly and the 64GB storage is super fast as well.

There is no storage expansion with the iPhone SE 2020, so you might have to keep that in mind while purchasing the same.

The iPhone SE 2020 features a single 12MP rear camera with an aperture size of f/1.8.

This camera has OIS (optical image stabilization) for steady photos and jitter-free video capturing.

The images and videos from this single 12MP camera put to shame some of the similarly priced Android smartphones out there.

Even without a secondary depth sensor, the portrait mode shots turn out to be stunning.

In the front, the iPhone SE 2020 has a 7MP shooter with HDR support for good dynamic range.

The rear camera of this device supports 4K video recording at 60fps while the front camera is limited to 1080p at 30fps.

Battery Life

This is one area where Apple has seen skimping a lot. The iPhone SE 2020 with its 1821mAh battery inside will last you around a day of light to moderate use.

If you use this smartphone a lot, expect the battery to come down within 5-6 hours. Apple has included a 5W charger inside the box that takes almost 2 hours to juice up the battery.

But it also supports fast-charging up to 20W, so if you wish to juice up the battery quickly then you can invest in a fast charger.

The iPhone SE 2020 is the cheapest iPhone available in India to date, priced around Rs.29,999.

If you are looking to purchase a smaller form factor smartphone with excellent performance and software experience, this is it.

Oppo is a leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer that has been a fan favourite among Indian customers for a while now.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro is a mid-range Android smartphone that is one of the first smartphones to launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ series SoC.

Design and Build Quality

Oppo Reno 5 Pro has a bright eye-catchy design that will for sure attract the attention of the crowd.

We must say this, Oppo has the best taste in design; even the Reno 4 series got much user attention because of its design and lightweight form factor. This one is no different as well, this smartphone weighs only 173 grams and is very convenient for one-hand use.

This device has an aluminium frame and glass back with curved sides on the back that gives a very good grip and feels premium in the hands.

The Reno 5 Pro smartphone has the USB-C charging port which we are expecting but, the box also includes USB-C earphones which is something that surprised us.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro features a 6.55-inch 90Hz Full HD+ AMOLED 3D borderless display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This display is curved from the sides and the panel has minimal bezels on the sides which help achieve that impressive 92.10% screen to body ratio.

This panel has a high pixel density of 402-PPI, which means the picture quality is sharp and crisp.

The colour reproduction of this panel is one of the best in its segment. If you love watching media content a lot, then this panel will outrank every other panel available at the price of Rs.40,000.

The brightness level of this panel goes up to 1100 nits and is usable under direct sunlight.

The high refresh rate of this panel gives a buttery smooth experience on scrolling and in gaming. Moreover, this panel has a touch sampling rate of 180Hz.

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of the Oppo Reno 5 Pro is MediaTek Dimensity 1000+, this is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.6GHz.

The 8GB RAM onboard breaks no sweat on intense multitasking and performance remains jitter-free on normal use as well.

In terms of gaming, this device performs well and you will notice no frame drops while gaming.

The 128GB UFS 2.1 is fast enough for you to have minimum app loading times and faster data transfer speeds.

Speaking of OS, the Reno 5 Pro runs ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11 OS.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro houses a 64MP main lens, 8MP ultrawide camera, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor in the rear.

The cameras on this smartphone take really good photos, especially the primary lens.

You will get clear sharp photos with excellent dynamic range and colour saturation. However, low light photos need a little improvement.

Coming to ultrawide, it is great for capturing group photos. It maintains the colours well and so far we find no issues with the sharpness either.

The portrait photos come out bright and colourful, the skin tone remains natural and photos are shareable on social platforms.

The 32MP selfie camera is excellent as well. You will get fine selfie photos with no oversharpening.

However, the edge detection in portrait selfies required a bit of an improvement as sometimes it does not catch the edge correctly.

Battery Life

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro is packed with a 4350mAh battery which easily lasts you a day with normal to intensive use.

The bundled 65W power brick recharges the battery levels from 0-100 in less than an hour.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro is a camera-centric phone and it captures really good images in our opinion.

If you can’t go for the Vivo X60 Pro+ then Oppo Reno 5 Pro is the best you buy and it is priced at Rs.35,990.
