Cons

Bloatware in UI

Realme is competing neck and neck with other smartphone companies such as Xioami and Samsung to provide the best smartphone experience at affordable prices.

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G is one of the latest budget 5G enabled smartphones to launch in the Indian market for a budget under Rs.15,000.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G has a polycarbonate back with a glossy finish which attracts fingerprint marks easily and we recommend you to put a case cover on it.

We like the design and colour scheme of this smartphone. The branding on this smartphone is subtle unlike some of its predecessors.

Realme has done an excellent job with the weight distribution. Even though this smartphone weighs 196g, you can use it with one hand comfortably.

Towards the bottom side of the middle frame, we have the 3.5mm audio port and USB-C at the along with a primary mic for calls.

Moving to the right, there is the power button which doubles up as a fingerprint scanner and the volume adjustment keys are positioned on the left side of the frame.

Display

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G sports a 6.5-inch 120Hz Full HD+ bright display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

You can manually set the refresh rate to 60Hz to save more battery life but once you get used to 120Hz there’s no way you will ever switch to 60Hz.

This display has minimal bezels on the sides that offer an immersive wide viewing experience.

You will also get a 180Hz of touch sampling rate which will be useful in gaming as it helps improve your reflex and in-game movements.

This panel has a peak brightness of 600 nits that is ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.The colour reproduction is good and the visuals and text looks crisp and clear, thanks to the FHD resolution.

Processor and Performance

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G SoC designed on 7-nm architecture.

It is a power-efficient processor that offers a snappy performance that we have been expecting from MediaTek for about a very long time.

The variant listed here has 6GB LPDDR4x RAM onboard which is more than sufficient for running everyday applications and multitasking.

You can play almost every game on this device and to be specific in terms of battle royale games, those games can be played in medium graphics settings without any major frame drops.

The 64GB UFS 2.1 storage is fast and without any issues whatsoever.

Camera

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro lens.

To begin with, the main camera here is undoubtedly the best one you can find in this price segment. The photos come out crisp, clear with good colour reproduction and details.

We were quite surprised with the ultrawide sensor as well. The results in broad daylight are amazing –  the photos do not lack sharpness this time around and colours also appear punchy and vivid.

The macro one is totally a disappointment to be honest with softer photos and a lot of digital noise.

You take portrait shots from this camera, and the background blur effect done by the AI is quite commendable.

The primary camera has UIS max video stabilization so you can record clear FHD videos without having much jitters.

Coming to the front side, there is a 16MP sensor placed inside the display top left corner, and selfies taken from this camera look decent.

The selfie photos look artificial as it brightens up the skin tone and sometimes colours look pretty washed out in dim lit conditions.

Battery Life

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G comes powered by a 5000mAh lithium battery that will provide backup for up to 10-12 hours on a single charge with normal to heavy use.

The 30W dart charger will quickly juice up the smartphone battery from 0 – 100%.

Verdict

The Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5G is one of the best budget 5G smartphones which offers great performance and user experience for the price of around Rs.15,000.

Cons

Average audio quality

If you are searching for a 5G smartphone under Rs.14,000 then Poco M3 Pro 5G is the best you can buy as of now.

The Poco M3 Pro 5G is an affordable 5G smartphone offering smooth performance and sturdy build quality at the price of Rs.13,999.

Design and Build Quality

The Poco M3 Pro 5G has gorilla glass on the front and the back is made out of plastic. The overall build quality is sturdy and reliable for rough use.

The shining yellow back with an addition of black colour gives this smartphone an aggressive look.

Weighing at 190 grams, the device is convenient to use with a single hand and does not feel much hefty while resting in pant pockets.

Talking about the physical appearance of the smartphone, the top frame has an IR blaster, audio jack, and a secondary noise-cancelling mic.

The right frame has a fingerprint sensor doubled with the power button. Moving to the bottom, there is a USB-C port and a speaker grill.

This smartphone design makes it look stand out from its competitors and feels premium in hands.

Display

The Poco M3 Pro 5G sports a 6.5-inch 90Hz Full HD+ punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

The panel has a balanced contrast ratio but the blacks are not deep which is expected considering the price.

The high refresh rate makes everything smooth when you operate the display and with the DynamicSwitch refresh rate, the battery will last longer.

The Dynamic switch means it adjusts the refresh rate according to the user so if you lock the phone and do not use it the refresh rate will be reduced to 30Hz.

The media consumption experience will be amazing, thanks to the minimal bezels on the sides.

The display brightness is sufficient for indoor and outdoor use.

Processor and Performance

The Poco M3 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G SoC designed on 7-nm architecture.

With the 4GB RAM onboard, you will face no lag or stutter in your everyday use and performance remains fluent on multitasking.

You can play high-end games smoothly without facing too many frame drops and the 2D games run buttery smooth.

The 64GB UFS 2.2 storage has excellent read and write speed which results in faster app loading and from the storage perspective, you can store files and media here.

The MIUI 12 based on Android 11 OS is what you get to use and the UI runs jitter-free but there are lots of ads and bloatware which makes the user experience quite annoying.

Camera

The Poco M3 Pro 5G has a triple rear camera which includes 48MP primary camera, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.

The main sensor of this smartphone takes decent photos. The images are sharp and detailed but the colour looks soft and the skin tone brightens up in artificial light.

The macro sensor is good if you like taking close-up shots and the depth sensor helps to click nice portrait shots.

You can use other photography modes to improve the quality of photos.

The 8MP selfie camera takes decent photos in daylight conditions. You can even record videos in high-definition resolution from the front camera.

Battery Life

The Poco M3 Pro 5G has a 5000mAh lithium battery inside that will provide a screen on time up to an entire day.

The 18W bundled charger will recharge the battery from 0 – 100% in 2 hours.

Verdict

The Poco M3 Pro 5G is the best performance-oriented smartphone at the price of Rs.15,000.

The device offers better battery life, performance and features a high refresh rate display.

Redmi released the Note 10 series a while ago this year and there’s no doubt that this lineup includes some of the best value for money smartphones available in the market right now.

The Redmi Note 10T is a future-ready smartphone that has a minimalist design and it costs around Rs.15,000 in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

Redmi has named the design on this smartphone as Evol. Well, we didn’t see a drastic change in details when compared to the other series 10 smartphones but what we notice is that the camera module is a bit smaller.

The design is ergonomic and premium so we don’t have any complaints about that. The body is made from polycarbonate plastic and the build quality does not seem cheap at all.

Even though the backplate looks like it is made of glass, it’s plastic. Weighing at 190 grams, this device is not that heavy and feels comfortable in pant pockets.

Talking about the physical overview, there is a USB-C port at the bottom along with the speaker grille.Moving to the right side, there is a power button that doubles up as a fingerprint sensor and right above it, there are volume adjustment keys. The top frame houses an audio jack and an IR blaster.

Display

The Redmi Note 10T features a 6.5-inch 90Hz Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This display has an adaptive sync mode which sets the refresh rate according to the content on the screen. This helps in saving the battery while retaining the smoothness of the high refresh panel where it matters the most.

This panel has a peak brightness of 500 nits which is sufficient for effortless indoor and outdoor use.

The colours and the sharpness of the panel are on point and there is no doubt that you’ll enjoy watching videos or playing games on this device.

Processor and Performance

What runs the show on Redmi Note 10T is the MediaTek Dimensity 700 octa-core processor designed on 7-nm architecture.

This is a 5G ready chipset and has the support for a wide range 5G bands that will let you experience a high-speed internet connection whenever available.

The 4GB RAM handles the daily workload with ease and even with multitasking, this smartphone delivers a smooth and lag free experience.

Performance in gaming is not bad either, you will get 45 fps in battle royale games like BGMI and COD: Mobile easily.

The 64GB UFS 2.2 storage has good read and write speed which results in faster app loading and swift OS boot up.

The Redmi Note 10T comes pre-installed with the MIUI 12 based on Android 11 OS.

Surprisingly, this device has a dedicated Alexa voice assistant that responds precisely most of the time and it will adapt your use so as much as you use this smartphone Alexa becomes more useful.

Camera

The Redmi Note 10T has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP primary camera, 2MP depth, and a 2MP macro sensor.

The main sensor captures good photos outdoors where there is ample light and photos taken under artificial lights also look pleasing.

The colour reproduction, detailing, and sharpness are good but the dynamic range is a hit and miss affair.

The portrait shots have a nice blurry background and the edge detection is on point.

The 8MP selfie camera takes okayish selfies which is to be expected from a budget smartphone.

Battery Life

The Redmi Note 10T is powered by a 5000mAh lithium battery and with normal use you will be able to use the phone easily for a day and half.

Redmi has included a 22.4W fast charger in the box that will juice up the battery from 0-100% in 2 hours.

Verdict

The Redmi Note 10T is a 5G ready smartphone and features a power-efficient chipset with excellent everyday performance.

Cons

Ads and Bloatware in UI

Narzo series from Realme has become a huge success in the smartphone market and by implementing 5G technology at many affordable prices the company is ready to give head to head competition to other brands in the budget mid-range segment.

Realme Narzo 30 5G is the latest masterpiece equipped with the new Dimensity processor of MediaTek and the device offers an incredible user experience.

Design and Build Quality

Realme has finally shown some improvements in design, the Realme Narzo 30 5G has a polycarbonate back with flashy blue colour that shines, even more, when a source of light hits it.

A vertical strip coming out from the camera module has a down arrow effect and it represents the peak performance of this smartphone.

Even with the minimalist design approach this device looks and feels premium in hands.

Weighing at just 185 grams this smartphone feels very comfortable to use with one hand.

Speaking of its physical overview, the volume buttons are shifted on the left frame and the right frame only consists of a power button which also works as a fingerprint scanner.

About the I/O, the device has a USB-C port and an audio jack at the bottom. On the left frame, there is a SIM tray in which you can insert 2 SIM cards + 1 SD card at the same time.

Display

The Realme Narzo 30 5G features a 6.5-inch 90Hz Full HD+ punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

Every visual and text will look sharp on this as it has a pixel density of 405-PPI.

The 90Hz refresh rate sure provides a smooth experience but the 180Hz touch sampling rate makes things even faster when you interact with the panel.

Minimal bezels on the sides provide an immersive wide viewing experience and you will have a delightful experience on content viewing.

With a peak brightness level of 600 nits, the smartphone can be used indoor and outdoor without any major issues.

Processor and Performance

MediaTek has turned the table with its new Dimensity series processor and the new Realme Narzo 30 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimesity 700 5G chipset designed on 7-nm architecture.

This significantly improved chipset is power-efficient as well as provides swift performance on multitasking.

The 6GB RAM onboard provides an ultra-smooth performance in day to day use and performance remains lag-free while doing intense multitasking.

Furthermore, the DRE technology of Realme converts the ROM into RAM (the Limit is up to 5GB). To put it simply, it’s a virtual RAM that makes the performance even smoother.

The 128GB storage should be enough for most of the users, and if not then do prefer to use the dedicated SD card slot.

Coming to the OS, the Realme Narzo 30 5G comes pre-installed with the Realme UI 2.0 designed on Android 11. It works smoothly and has minimal bloatware and ads.

Camera

The Realme Narzo 30 5G has a triple rear camera setup. The 48MP main sensor is accompanied by the 2MP b/w lens and the 2MP macro lens.

The 48MP takes mind-blowing photos in a well-lit environment, the colours and details in the photo are on point, and even in low light conditions the dynamic range is quite good, we’d say.

Instead of this 2MP sensor, they should have given an ultrawide lens however, this is something you and we can’t deal with now.

The portrait shots come out very good with near to perfect edge detection and it keeps the skin tone close to natural.

The 16MP front-facing camera provides excellent selfies while in daylight and the bokeh selfies also come out good.

In the rear camera, you can record videos while running without having much shakiness in the video as it has UIS stabilization.

Battery Life

The Realme Narzo 30 5G is powered by the 5000mAh lithium polymer battery that is rated to last up to an entire day with normal to heavy use.

The bundled 18W charger takes almost 2 hours to recharge the battery and we think the brand at least need to provide the 25W charger inside the box.

Verdict

The Realme Narzo 30 5G is the best 5G smartphone you can buy at Rs.15,999, a thousand bucks can get you an amazing device.

This smartphone is a complete package that a regular user or heavy user can ask for.

Cons

Not ideal for single-hand use

Motorola was lagging behind the competitors in the smartphone market once Lenovo acquired it from Google.

The all-new Motorola G60 is a sign of Motorola trying to up its ante against brands like Xiaomi and Realme to capture the lost foothold in the market.

Design and Build Quality

Motorola has improved the design a bit with the all-new G60 – the back panel feels like the glass back but it is plastic actually and the in-hand feel of this phone is amazing.

However, the smartphone is very heavy or you can say it weighs the same as a Poco X3. Weighing at 225 grams, you will feel the heft in your pocket.

The camera design of this smartphone is similar to that of its younger sibling – the G40 Fusion and the fingerprint scanner is located on the rear side with the “M” logo stamped on it.

On the right side frame, there is the tactile power button, volume rockers along with the Google Assistant button which is not necessary for our opinion.

Using the SIM ejector pin you can pull out the SIM tray from the left side of the frame and it is a hybrid setup. This means you can either use a dual SIM or a single SIM and a micro SD card.

The audio jack is placed at the top frame whereas the USB Type-C port is located at the bottom frame.

Display

The Motorola G60 sports a 6.8-inch 120Hz Full HD+ IPS Max Vision display with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 and a pixel density of 396-PPI.

This display has an aspect ratio of 20.5:9 and an 85% screen to body ratio. The taller aspect ratio provides a pleasant media consumption and gaming experience.

The colour reproduction is good and there is no noticeable shift when viewed from an angle, thanks to the IPS technology.

It’s a high refresh rate panel that gives you a fluid experience when you scroll through the screen and it will enhance your gaming skills.

This panel has HDR10 support, what it does is that it will enhance the colours and contrast so you can have a vivid experience while consuming visual content.

Processor and Performance

Inside the Motorola G60, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz paired with 6GB RAM.

The performance of this smartphone is smooth as butter. This device can handle multitasking without breaking a sweat.

You can game on this device undoubtedly – most of the battle royale games will be playable at 40-45 fps and 2D games will run like a charm.

The 128GB UFS 2.1 storage will be sufficient for most users as nowadays many people love to stream content online.

Since it’s Motorola in terms of UI all you can expect is stock android. This is the USP of the smartphone as it has no third-party applications pre-installed and most of Google’s apps can either be removed or disabled.

The Android 11 is what you get on this device and the user interface is easy to understand and there is no lag or stutter while playing with the UI.

Camera

The Motorola G60 has a 108MP main camera followed by an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor.

The primary lens is much improved from the previous G-series smartphones. It captures sharp and detailed photos with a good dynamic range and natural colour tones.

The results in daylight are satisfactory and there is a night mode in the camera app which helps you take photos at night but it is not great as expected.

The ultrawide sensor also works as a macro lens and it takes decent quality photos in most of the use cases.

In portrait mode, you can adjust the depth manually and portrait photos come out good.

The 32MP selfie camera on this smartphone works exceptionally well. The selfies look bright, clear and the skin tone remains close to nature.

Also, there is a flash in the front but is not easily visible to everyone because it is placed under glass and if you wish to take the photos at night you can use that flash.

Battery Life

The 6000mAh battery inside this smartphone is responsible for its increased heft. However, it can last you a day and a half on a single charge with normal to heavy use.

The bundled 20W charger comes with the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 technology; which will juice up the battery from 0-100 in 2 hours.

Verdict

The Motorola G60 is for those who hate seeing ads everywhere while using their smartphones normally and for people who need a great performance with excellent battery life.

Except for the weight, this smartphone from Motorola G60 is worth checking out.

Realme is a rival competitor from the Oppo stable to counter the Redmi series budget Android smartphones from Xiaomi.

The Realme 8 5G is an affordable mid-range 5G smartphone equipped with the new MediaTek Dimensity processor priced at Rs.14,999.

Design and Build Quality

The design of Realm 8 5G reminds us of the Vivo V-series lineup. The glossy polycarbonate back of this smartphone is a fingerprint magnet so make sure to put a case on it.

Weighing at just 185g, the device is comfortable to use with one hand use and the rounded edges help in holding this smartphone inside the palms of your hands comfortably.

The volume rockers and the power button can be found on the left side of the frame. The power button here doubles up as a fingerprint scanner as well.

Towards the bottom, there is the USB Type-C port and the 3.5mm audio output.

Display

The Realme 8 5G sports a 6.5-inch 90Hz Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This display has a maximum brightness of 600 nits which makes it bright enough to be useful in both indoor and outdoor conditions.

The higher 90Hz refresh rate delivers a buttery-smooth visual experience and once you get used to it, you won’t turn back to a standard 60Hz panel.

The minimal bezels around the display help this smartphone to achieve an impressive 90.5% screen to body ratio. With a 405ppi pixel density, this display is plenty sharp and colour accurate for media consumption and gaming.

Processor and Performance

The Realme 8 5G runs on the latest MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G octa-core SoC manufactured on 7-nm architecture.

MediaTek has leapt further with its mobile chipset and this time they came up with a very power-efficient SoC. This device comes with 4GB RAM onboard which promises lag-free performance.

What’s new here is “Dynamic RAM expansion” technology. What it does is, it will use ROM or built-in storage as RAM whenever found necessary to deliver a smooth experience. Not the entire ROM will be used as RAM, but in the 4GB variant the RAM virtually expands up to 5GB.

The device has a 128GB UFS 2.1 storage which is sufficient enough for regular users and there is a dedicated slot in the SIM tray where you can insert a micro SD card.

Finally, the Android 11 in Realme numbered series has begun with the Realme 8 series. This 5G model comes with the Android 11 with the Realme UI 2.0 on top.

You find some unnecessary applications but they can be removed manually to free up some space and the user interface is smooth and intuitive.

Camera

The Realme 8 5G has a triple rear camera setup which includes a 48MP primary sensor accompanied by the 2MP macro sensor and 2MP B/W depth sensor.

The main camera performs well in natural lighting conditions. The photos have natural colours, a good dynamic range, and sharpness.

However, this device does not have an ultrawide sensor as many people like to use it for taking group photos.

The photos clicked at night do not show much of an impressive result – you will notice grains and noise in the image.

The depth sensor works fine as usual and speaking of macro sensors, it takes average photos.

The 16MP in-display selfie camera clicks decent photos, the colour and skin tone require improvements as the final image looks a bit soft.

Battery Life

The Realme 8 5G is powered by a 5000mAh lithium-polymer battery that will last you for a day worth of heavy usage.

The 18W fast charger takes approximately 2 hours to level up the battery life from zero to full.

Verdict

The Realme 8 5G is the cheapest 5G smartphone in the Indian market with the powerful Mediatek Dimensity chipset at a price of Rs.14,999.

Motorola is a well-known smartphone manufacturing brand, now owned by the Chinese company Lenovo.

The G series devices from Motorola created a revolution in the Indian smartphone market when it launched but later failed to gain traction, mainly due to the lack of proper foresight from the company.

However, with the all-new G-series, Motorola is back on track and gives a tight competition for Xiaomi and Realme in terms of the value for money prospect with the G40 Fusion smartphone, priced at Rs.13,999.

Design and Build Quality

The back panel of the Motorola G40 Fusion is made out of polycarbonate plastic. Since it comes with a glossy back finish, it easily attracts fingerprint marks and smudges.

A transparent case cover is provided in the box so make sure to put that on the device if you want the device to look pristine.

The design of this smartphone resembles some of the OnePlus devices, which is quite a positive thing in our opinion.

The rear portion of this smartphone houses the horizontal camera bump along with the physical fingerprint scanner.

This smartphone has a water repellent coating on top that prevents water droplets from sticking on the phone when faced with splashes.

This device has a noise cancellation microphone and an audio jack at the top, the speaker output, USB Type-C port, and primary mic located at the bottom section of the frame.

On the left side is where the power button, volume rockers and the dedicated Google assistant button resides.

Display

The Motorola G40 Fusion features a large 6.8-inch 120Hz Full HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels.

The stock Android UI with a high refresh rate is a delight to use. Be it visuals or simply scrolling through the UI, everything looks buttery smooth.

This IPS LCD covers about 85.3% of the front section, assuring you an immersive visual experience. With a pixel density of 395ppi, the visuals and text appear sharp and detailed.

This is an HDR10 certified panel with punchy and vivid colours and an excellent dynamic range that will let you watch movies and TV shows in great detail.

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of the Motorola G40 Fusion is the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G octa-core SoC.

The 4GB RAM onboard provides a smooth multitasking performance on a day to day use as well as with multitasking. If the latter is your concern, we suggest you go for the 6GB version of the G40 Fusion.

Speaking of gaming performance, you can play almost all modern games without noticing much lag or stutter, and with the higher refresh rate, you will enjoy the experience much better than on a standard 60Hz panel.

The 64GB UFS 2.1 storage offers good read/write speeds and performs faster when it comes to app loading.

The device comes pre-installed with Android 11 out of the box. The interface is stock with no ads or bloatware at all. Motorola promised the 2-year software updates and the device is most likely to rock the Android 12 shortly as well.

Camera

The Motorola G40 Fusion has a triple camera system in the rear consisting of a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide lens, and 2MP depth sensor.

The photos coming out from the main lens appear sharp and detailed. The colours look natural and when shot in daylight doesn’t have the over-saturated processing issues that are common among mid-range smartphones in this segment.

The portrait shots from this smartphone look stunning – the edge detection is precise in most cases and there is no over softening of the skin tone.

Both the front and rear camera supports 4K video recording at 30fps. EIS (electronic image stabilization) is only available up to FHD resolution.

The 16MP front-facing camera performs excellently in broad daylight as well as in artificial lighting conditions.

Battery Life

The Motorola G40 Fusion is powered by a large 6000mAh battery that will easily last you for a day and a half with medium to heavy usage.

The bundled 20W charger takes almost 2.15 hours to juice up the battery levels from 0-100%.

Verdict

The Motorola G40 Fusion is an excellent smartphone loaded with cutting edge features for a budget under Rs.15,000.

The powerful CPU onboard, stock Android UI and the gorgeous 120Hz FHD screen makes this device well worth its asking price.

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is consistent with its smartphone launches and the company is known for providing affordable consumer electronics products across the world.

The Redmi Note 10 Lite is an excellent smartphone in its price range and offers a good user experience and performance.

Design and Build Quality

The Redmi Note 10 Lite is a Redmi Note 9 Pro – the only difference is the name, otherwise, the device is an exact copy of its predecessor.

This smartphone weighs 209 grams and does feel a bit heavy in the hands and speaking of its in-hand feel, it’s great and convenient.

The side-mounted fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate while remaining easily accessible.

Talking about its physical overview, starting from the top, there is an IR blaster and a noise-cancelling microphone.

Moving to the bottom, the Note 10 Lite has a USB Type-C port, primary microphone, speaker and 3.5mm audio jack.

The audio quality is loud but is not the best and we recommend using a pair of headphones for the best sound experience.

Display

The Redmi Note 10 Lite sports a 6.67-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels.

This is a standard 60Hz panel with vivid and punchy colour reproduction.

Except for the bottom chin, the bezels from the other three sides are slim and you will love consuming media content on this panel.

The display brightness is enough for indoor and outdoor use cases. Thanks to the IPS technology, the side viewing angles are excellent.

The display is protected with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 which makes it slightly scratch resistant.

Processor and Performance

The processor inside Redmi Note 10 Lite is the Snapdragon Qualcomm 720G SoC designed on 8-nm architecture.

The variant we’ve handpicked for you has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

You will get lag-free performance on multitasking also, most battle royales games can be played at 40-45 fps.

There is also a dedicated microSD card slot for increasing the storage capacity.

The Redmi Note 10 Lite is running MIUI 11 based on Android 10 and it will soon get the update for MIUI 12.

Camera

The Redmi Note 10 Lite comes with a quad-camera setup that consists of a 48MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, 5MP depth and 2MP sensor.

The main camera takes sharp photos in broad daylight and photos from the ultrawide also look good.

However, in ultrawide the colours are slightly on the softer side but are nothing like a major deal-breaker.

The portrait photos come excellent, the edge detection is on par and the skin tone looks more natural.

The 16MP selfie camera also provides good selfies in brightly lit environments.

Battery Life

The Redmi Note 10 Lite is powered by a 5020mAh lithium battery that is rated to last up to an entire day with heavy use.

The bundled 18W fast charger will juice up the battery levels from 0 – 100% within two hours.

Verdict

The Redmi Note 10 Lite is a good smartphone for a budget under Rs.13,000.

The device offers excellent performance, battery life and build quality. It is a perfect buy for students and casual users.

Cons

Glossy back panel

Realme has released so many smartphones this year and is giving a tough competition to Xiaomi.

The Realme 8i offers a good performance for the price of Rs.14,999 and those who love flashy design will surely like this smartphone.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme 8i has a polycarbonate back and realme has used a shiny design to attract the consumer which is not bad. The only problem is the glossy finish as it catches the fingerprints marks a lot.

There’s a case inside the box if you want to protect your smartphone from accidental falls, smudges, and fingerprints.

Weighing at 198 grams, the Realme 8i does feel slightly heavy and is not ideal for one-hand use.

At the bottom section of the middle frame you will find USB-C and audio output ports. The right side houses a power button which also doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.

The volume controls are on the left and are easy to access.

Display

The Realme 8i features a 6.6-inch 120Hz Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels.

This display has slim bezels from the sides and top. It offers a nice wide viewing experience with daily use and media consumption.

The panel comes with a peak brightness of 600 nits and the visuals are readable in any environment.

With the rich pixel density of 400ppi, the Realme 8i panel produces sharp quality visuals and text.

The high refresh rate will make everything appear smooth on this smartphone and thanks to the 180Hz touch sampling rate, the display responds fast to your touch.

Processor and Performance

The Realme 8i is powered by the MediaTek Helio G96 SoC and is coupled with the 6GB RAM.

The performance on daily use is smooth and you can do multitasking without a problem.

Most games will run smoothly however when it comes to battle royale games you might notice occasional frame drops in between the game.

The 64GB UFS 2.1 storage also helps to improve the performance – it offers faster app opening and system boot up.

The Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 is what you get on the Realme 8i. It’s the latest version yet you do notice some ads here and there.

Camera

The Realme 8i has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP main camera, 2MP depth, and a 2MP macro sensor.

The main sensor takes colourful and sharp photos. In broad daylight, the primary camera works just amazing.

You can click good portrait photos from this smartphone and macro shots look clear as well.

In the camera app, you will get dozens of modes to try and we love the HDR and chroma boost function. If you think colours are not good enough just turn on the chroma boost.

You can also record videos from the front and rear camera at the same time.

The 16MP selfie camera takes good photos in ample lighting conditions. The skin tone looks natural and the captured images are sufficiently sharp.

Battery Life

The Realme 8i houses a 5000mAh lithium battery inside which will easily last up to a day and a half with intense use.

The bundled 18W charger juice up the battery level from 0 – 100% in 2 hours.

Verdict

The Realme 8i is a good-looking smartphone that also provides reliable performance for the price of Rs.14,999.

If you need a smartphone for regular use then Realme 8i is the best option for you.

Pros

Cons

Bloated UI

Xiaomi is known for selling feature-rich smartphones at very low prices and the brand always makes its competition sweat with its competitive price tags.

The new Redmi Note 10S is the continuation in the Note series and is the latest smartphone of 2021 equipped with a MediaTek processor and is retailing in India at Rs.14,999.

Design and Build Quality

Redmi has shown significant improvement in the design with its Note 10 series smartphones.

The Redmi Note 10S has a polycarbonate back with flat finishing. The device looks and feels premium in hands.

The rectangular-shaped camera module with curved edges looks amazing on this smartphone.

Weighing at just 179 grams, this phone feels lightweight in hands, and thanks to its excellent weight distribution, you can use the device with a single hand.

The smartphone has dual speakers and it provides surround sound yet we still believe that a pair of good earphones will provide a better sound experience.

The device has a USB-C port at the bottom along with the audio jack. The volume control and power buttons are provided on the right side.

The fingerprint sensor is doubled with the power button for faster and secure unlock.

Display

The Redmi Note 10S has a 6.43-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

The display has a peak brightness of 1100 nits which makes this panel legible for outdoor use.

The colour reproduction is amazing, which is no surprise as this is an sAMOLED panel with a rich contrast ratio.

Every visual you will see look vivid and punchy and with the slim bezels on the sides, you will have a delightful experience on content consumption.

There is no high refresh rate but is acceptable for the asking price and there are no major delays we found while interacting with the panel.

At night, you can use low light mode to read an eBook or watch videos without causing much stress on your eyes.

Processor and Performance

Inside the Redmi Note 10S, there is a MediaTek Helio G95 octa-core processor designed on 12-nm architecture.

This CPU paired with the 6GB LPDDR4x RAM offers flawless performance in routine use and multitasking can be done without noticing any jitters.

The 64GB UFS 2.2 storage also helps boost the performance, the smartphone will boot up quickly and apps will load at a much higher speed compared to eMMC.

The MIUI 12.5 developed on Android 11 OS runs smoothly however, you do find some ads and bloatware. You can remove some apps but ads will remain annoying.

Camera

The Redmi Note 10S has a quad-camera setup at the back. The 64MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.

The photos that come out from the main camera have good results, the dynamic range and sharpness are good but the low-lit photos are not that pleasant.

The ultrawide lens can capture more details in photos and is excellent when it comes to group photos.

You can take portraits and the background blur effect is one of the best we have seen so far in a budget smartphone.

Surprisingly, it can record 4K videos at 30fps but stabilization is not provided so you need a tripod or gimbal to hold the device steadily.

The 13MP front camera works fine at the price range. The selfie images look good with enough sharpness and details with no issue in skin tones.

Battery Life

The Redmi Note 10S is powered by a 5000mAh battery that will last for a whole day with normal use.

The bundled 33W fast charger juice up the battery life from zero to full in 1:30 hour.

Verdict

The Redmi Note 10S is a balanced phone in the series with a great mixture of performance, battery life, and build quality.

If you like to have a lightweight device with good everyday performance then Redmi Note 10S is the best you can get.

Budget Smartphone with OLED Display

  • Decent camera performance
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Rear fingerprint scanner

Decent build quality

Android 11 OS out of the box

Cons

Outdated processor

Samsung M21 was a popular smartphone that was launched last year in the Indian market. The M21 2021 Edition is the newest refresh of the same smartphone with minor improvements.

This OLED display smartphone running on Android 11 OS retails for just under Rs.12,999 in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

From the front, the Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition looks the same as its elder sibling which was released back in 2020 Q1.

However, when we look at the back we are not quite happy with the design. In fact, the 2020 model feels a bit more polished than this one.

This smartphone has a textured finish on the back that provides a nice grip and feel in the hand but look wise it is just average.

Moving to the ports and buttons, the volume controls and the power button are placed on the right side, easily accessible while holding the phone in hand.

At the bottom side, you will find a USB Type-C port for charging and an audio jack in which you can plug earphones in and have the best surround sound experience.

The fingerprint reader is at the rear and works perfectly fine as expected.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition sports a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

As expected, the M21 2021 Edition has an Super AMOLED display with characteristic inky deep blacks and punchier colours.

The visuals and text look super sharp and being an OLED display, the infinite contrast and excellent dynamic range make everything look a lot more enjoyable and immersive.

The brightness level of this panel is almost similar to that of what we saw with the original M21. It’s neither too bright nor too dim for outdoor usage.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition comes equipped with the Exynos 9611 that is designed on 10-nm architecture.

This is the same CPU that was used by Samsung on their multiple mid-range smartphones last year.

This CPU coupled with the 4GB RAM offers a jitter-free performance experience on everyday use and multitasking.

Do note that this is not a gaming centric processor and do not expect smooth performance while playing games such as BGMI.

The device comes with 64GB storage along with the provision for expanding the memory via the dedicated SD card slot.

Out of the box, this device comes pre-installed with the One UI 3.1 Core on top of Android 11 OS.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition comes with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP wide, 8MP ultrawide, and 5MP depth sensor.

Photos clicked in a well-lit environment from the main camera turns out to be decent. The photos have sufficient details and colours but the dynamic range is not good, especially the whites, which are too bright.

Moving to the ultrawide, the result from the ultrawide sensor is quite okay for the price.

You can click more scenery details into one photo and it is sufficient for group photos with a lot of subjects inside the frame. The colours are okay and the sharpness needs a bit of an improvement.

The depth sensor works fine as expected – you can take portrait photos without doing much adjustment in the blur effect.

Using the rear camera you can record videos in UHD resolution but frame rates are limited to 30fps.

The 20MP front camera takes nice selfies with decent sharpness and details.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition is powered by a 6000mAh lithium battery that will last up to one and a half days on a single charge.

Use a 15W bundled fast charger to juice up the battery which will take almost 3 hours to fully recharge the battery.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy M21 2021 Edition is basically a clone of its original model with minor changes in design and yes it is a good device for people who need a smartphone for their daily use and seek excellent battery life.

Cons

Nor a FHD display

Realme smartphones are putting tough competition against the brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, and Motorola.

The Realme Narzo 50A is a decent smartphone under the price of Rs.13,000 and it comes with decent hardware specifications.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme Narzo 50A has a physical dimension of 164.5 x 75.9 x 9.6 mm and it weighs 207 grams.

Realme is a pro when it comes to designing and the case with the Realme Narzo 50A is no different. This time they stretched the camera module slightly more so they can make room for a fingerprint sensor.

It looks a bit weird at first and you might face difficulty placing your finger on the fingerprint sensor but with the use of a day or two, you will get used to it.

This device houses a USB Type-C port, audio jack, speaker output and primary microphone at the bottom section of the frame.

Display

The Realme Narzo 50A features a 6.5-inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.

Now, this is a bit disappointing because a HD display for Rs.12,499 is something that is not desirable. However, you will not find any kind of pixelation on display and colour reproduction is decent.

This display has 570 nits of maximum brightness which is adequate for effortless indoor use.

Also, this is an IPS panel so there will be no colour shifting in the visuals when viewed at an angle.

Processor and Performance

The Realme Narzo 50A is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC which provides a good everyday performance.

You will not find any lag or jitters in your day to day to use, thanks to the 4GB RAM.

The storage capacity that Realme Narzo 50A offers is 128GB. You also get a dedicated SD card slot for further storage expansion.

Out of the box, the Realme Narzo 50A comes pre-installed with the Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 OS. Understanding the UI is not tough, it’s simple but has some bloatware pre-installed.

Camera

The Realme Narzo 50A includes a triple camera at the back consisting of a 50MP main, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor.

The 50MP sensor captures excellent photos in brightly lit conditions, the sharpness and colours in the images are on par.

Coming down to macro, it’s not that great, on the other hand, the depth sensor provides excellent portraits which you can later set as your display picture or share on social media.

You can record videos in 1080p but without any stabilization options.

The 8MP selfie sure provides excellent sharpness in selfies but when it comes to skin tones, it looks slightly soft and artificial.

Battery Life

The Realme Narzo 50A is powered by a 6000mAh lithium battery and provides power backup for up to one and a half days with heavy use.

The 18W charger takes almost 2 hours to fully charge the battery levels.

Verdict

The Realme Narzo 50A is ideal for people who need a smartphone with longer battery life, that has minimal to no lag and can handle multiple applications load at once.

Under the price of Rs.13,000, the Realme Narzo 50A is a steal deal for non-gamers.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy M32 has a quad-camera setup at the rear side consisting of a 64MP main lens, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.

In normal lighting conditions, the main sensor performs exceptionally well. The colour reproduction is good and has balanced sharpness.

The camera app of Samsung is loaded with different modes which you can use to click better pictures.

The ultrawide sensor lacks a bit of colour accuracy and sharpness, otherwise, the details in ultrawide photos are good.

You can take portrait photos, the depth sensor will help blur the background.

Coming to the front, there is a 20MP selfie camera and to be honest, the results of the selfie are very good. The skin tones, colours, and details are well maintained.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy M32 is powered by the mammoth 6000mAh lithium polymer battery that will provide backup for one and a half days.

Samsung has bundled a 15W fast charger which takes almost 2:30 hours to recharge the battery levels.
