Realme X3 is one of the latest premium mid-range smartphones from the company priced just under Rs.25,000.

The X3, as the name suggests comes as an upgrade to the popular Realme X2 smartphone. Is this an upgrade over the X2 – let’s find out!

Design and Build Quality

The Realme X3 features the same design as that of many of its previous smartphones and nothing much has been changed in that regard.

Even though this smartphone looks good, Realme could have brought some changes to the aesthetics to make this device stand out from the rest of its predecessors.

This smartphone has a glass sandwich design with glass in the front and back with a plastic frame in the middle.

Both the front and the rear glass is protected by Corning gorilla glass 5 as well. This device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is very fast and accurate to the touches.

Unfortunately, Realme has decided not to include a 3.5mm headphone jack, which will be a letdown for many for sure.

Another thing to note here is that the Realme X3 doesn’t feature an SD card slot for memory expansion.

Display

The Realme X3 features a 6.6-inch FHD+ IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This 20:9 aspect ratio panel has a dual punch-hole cutout to house the front cameras and features a 120Hz refresh rate.

With a screen to body ratio of 84.7% and a pixel density of 399ppi, this panel offers an immersive and pleasant media consumption experience.

The colour looks natural and the contrast levels seem to be decent but the one area where we would have liked to see improvement was the display brightness.

This panel looked a bit dim compared to other smartphones in this price segment.

Processor and Performance

The Realme X3 smartphone is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ octa-core processor assisted by the Adreno 640 GPU.

This 7nm processor is very power efficient and performs significantly better than the Snapdragon 730G processor that is present in some of the smartphones in this price segment.

The 6GB RAM and the 128GB UFS3.0 storages help this device to become one of the best smartphones in terms of performance under Rs.25,000.

Games run smooth and the everyday usage with multitasking is a breeze with this smartphone.

If performance is your primary concern, the Realme X3 is one of the best choices for a budget under Rs.25,000.

Camera

This smartphone from Realme features a quad rear camera setup consisting of a 64MP f/.8 primary sensor followed by a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP macro camera.

The addition of a 12MP telephoto lens is very much appreciable at this price range.

The pictures and videos come out detailed and colour accurate for the most part, but falters a bit when it comes to low light performance.

The front dual camera setup comprises a 16MP sensor assisted by an 8MP ultra-wide shooter to capture more subjects in the frame.

The rear camera can record 4K videos up to 60fps while the front camera maxes out at 1080p at 30fps.

Battery Life

This smartphone is powered by a standard 4200mAh Li-ion battery which will last you for a day and a half comfortably with moderate to heavy usage.

Realme has also included a 30W fast charger in the box that will juice up the battery from zero to hundred in an hour.

Verdict

The Realme X3 is undoubtedly one of the best smartphones in terms of raw performance in this price segment.

Mi 10i 5G is Xiaomi’s first launch in 2021 and with the specs on board, it seems that the company has a winner in their hands.

The Mi 10i 5G pricing starts at just Rs.21,999 but we are discussing the 8GB/128GB variant retailing for Rs.23,999 at present in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

Following the footsteps of premium Android smartphones out there, the Mi 10i 5G features a glass sandwich design with plastic frame in between.

Both the front and back glass is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to save this gorgeous looking device from accidental scratches.

The square-shaped camera set up inside the circular enclosure somewhat reminds us of the POCO X3 design.

Baring the camera bump, the backside of this smartphone is clean. The fingerprint scanner is located on the power button and is easily accessible even for those with small hands.

Even though this smartphone weighs 215g, the weight distribution is done uniform making this smartphone quite easy to hold in hand without tipping off.

The dual stereo speakers on the Mi 10i 5G is a welcome addition, where most of the manufacturers skimp on the audio department to cut costs.

Display

The Mi 10i 5G smartphone features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ 120Hz punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

Thanks to the high refresh rate panel, the visuals feel extremely smooth and fluid. System-wide animations and transitions now feel all the more delightful and intuitive than it used to be with a standard 60Hz panel.

Note that this is an IPS LCD and not an AMOLED display. Even if it isn’t an OLED panel, the colours look vibrant and vivid and the dynamic range is excellent.

This 20:9 aspect ratio display has a 395ppi pixel density, providing sharp, detailed visuals and text.

This LCD panel can get as bright as 450nits, which is good enough for fair outdoor usability.

Processor and Performance

The Mi 10i 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G capable octa-core processor.
As the name suggests this smartphone has the 5G radio built-in which will be useful once the networks in India start supporting 5G infrastructure.

This mid-range processor from Snapdragon is powerful enough to handle gaming, multitasking and the normal day to day tasks with ease.

The 8GB RAM and the faster UFS2.2 128GB storage helps the processor to unleash its full potential without any bottlenecks.

With regards to the storage expansion, the Mi 10i 5G has a hybrid slot where you can either use it with two SIM cards or a SIM card and an SD card at once.

This device runs on Android 10 with MIUI 12 skin on top and the users can expect the latest Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 update to hit soon.

Camera

The Mi 10i 5G features a quad-rear camera setup of which the 108MP sensor is touted as the star of the show.

The 108MP sensor with an aperture size of f/.8 captures excellent quality photos in the daylight as well night, with a good amount of details and colour accuracy.

The noise in the photos is considerably low compared to other devices in the same price segment.

The 8MP ultra-wide camera covers 120 degrees in the frame, allowing for wide-angle shots with a lot of subject in focus.

The 2MP macro camera clicks decent close-up shots but lacks in details whereas the 2M depth sensor helps the primary camera to click portrait mode shots with decent edge detection and background blur.

There is no OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) with any of these sensors but the phone does provide gyro-EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization). The rear camera can record 4K videos at 30fps.

Coming to the front, the Mi 10i 5G features a 16MP wide-angle sensor which performs well in good lighting conditions.

Battery Life

The Mi 10i 5G is powered by a 4820mAh battery inside which will last for a day of heavy use on a single charge at 120Hz refresh rate.

You can expect the phone to last for a day and a half with the standard 60Hz refresh rate.

The Mi 10i 5G supports dual split fast charging with which the bundled 33W fast charger juices up the phone from zero to hundred in just one hour and five minutes.

Verdict

The Mi 10i 5G is one of the cheapest 5G enabled smartphones to launch in India this year.

This device packed with features to the brim is well worth the asking price, considering the overall performance and the build quality.

The Galaxy F62 is the second smartphone offering from the Samsung F series lineup after the much-praised F41.

Priced under Rs.25,000, the Samsung Galaxy F62 competes with the premium mid-range smartphones from Xiaomi and Realme.

Design and Build Quality

The Samsung Galaxy F62 has a glass front with a plastic frame and plastic back construction.

The sleek design of this smartphone makes it look and feel premium in hand. The laser gradient design is unique from the rest of the smartphones in this price bracket.

Weighing at 218g, the Samsung Galaxy F62 is not at all a lightweight smartphone. The mammoth 7000mAh battery inside makes this device feel like a brick in hand.

The rear section has the square camera bump which houses the quad cameras and an assisting LED flashlight.

The volume rockers and the power button is positioned on the right side of the plastic middle frame. The power button doubles up as the fingerprint scanner, even though this smartphone comes with an OLED display.

Fortunately, Samsung has retained the 3.5mm headphone jack on this smartphone.

Display

Displays are always the strong forte of Samsung smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy F62 features a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Plus panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This is perhaps one of the best smartphone displays in the sub. Rs.25,000 price segment. The colours look vibrant and vivid and the blacks appear inky deep.

This is a standard 60Hz refresh rate panel which is a bit of a letdown considering some other manufacturers market their smartphones half the price with high refresh rate panels.

With a peak brightness level of 420 nits, this gorgeous OLED panel is a joy to use indoors and is fairly visible outdoors, under direct sunlight as well.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy F62 packs the Exynos 9825 octa-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz. This CPU is built on the energy-efficient 7nm process that ensures uncompromised performance without being too much of a sucker for power.

The 6GB RAM on board makes sure that everything runs fine without any sort of lags or stutters. Even with multitasking, the Samsung Galaxy F62 provides a pleasant experience.

Be it gaming or any other resource-intensive apps, the Galaxy F62 manages to run them without breaking a sweat.

The 128GB storage makes sure that there is enough free space to save media files and miscellaneous content.

The Samsung Galaxy F62 runs on the latest Android 11 OS with the latest One UI 3.1 on top.

Camera

This premium mid-range smartphone from Samsung comes with a quad rear camera setup consisting of the 64MP primary camera accompanied with 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro and a 5MP depth sensor.

The photos from the primary camera turn out to be detailed and colour accurate. The dynamic range is wide and well articulated in the photos. The ultrawide shooter fares reasonably well in terms of colour accuracy and saturation.

The depth sensor helps the primary camera to take good quality portrait mode photos with bokeh effects whereas the macro sensor allows to click photos much closer to the subject.

Both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps.

The 32MP punch hole camera up front captures excellent selfie shots with good skin tones and details when shot under adequate lighting conditions.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy F62 packs in a huge 7000mAh battery inside that will last for two days even with heavy usage.

The included 25W charging brick juices up this battery within 2.15 hours.

Thanks to the mammoth battery inside, this smartphone supports reverse charging. You can charge your other devices from this phone by using a compatible cable.

Verdict

Looking for a non-Chinese smartphone with excellent performance and a gorgeous OLED display? The Samsung Galaxy F62 checks almost all the right boxes if your budget is around Rs.25,000.

The all-new Realme X7 is a mid-range smartphone packed with a lot of useful features retailing in the Indian market for just Rs.19,999.

Design and Build Quality

Weighing at just 176g, this smartphone is 8.1m thick and feels comfortable in the hand. You can carry this device in your pocket without even noticing it is there.

Unlike most other smartphones in the market, the Realme 7 flaunts the volume rockers on the left side of the frame and the power button on the right. The fingerprint scanner is tucked underneath the display.

Unfortunately, there is no audio jack on this smartphone but a single USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. Realme has provided a Type-C to 3.5mm converter in the box if that’s of any use.

Display

The Realme X7 features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

Surprisingly, this smartphone has a standard 60Hz refresh rate but comes with an enhanced 180Hz touch sampling rate for precise touch input response.

Being an AMOLED panel, the blacks appear dark and the colours seem to pop out bright and vivid. Thanks to the higher pixel density count, the visuals appear sharp and detailed without any kind of pixelation.

With a peak brightness of 600nits, this display fares excellently indoors and fairly decent under direct sunlight as well.

Processor and Performance

The Realme X7 has the brand new MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC with 5G radio support on board.

You will be able to run almost all of the modern gaming titles on this smartphone without a hitch.

Camera

The Realme X7 houses a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro lens.

Photos clicked in daylight turn out pretty good with a good amount of details and colour accuracy. The green seems to be a bit oversaturated but it is a software issue and can be fixed with an OTA update nevertheless.

The ultrawide sensor captures a lot of subjects when compared to the primary shooter. The colours and details from this sensor are better than what we had expected.

The 16MP front shooter delivers average quality selfies with a softer skin tone.

Battery Life

Realme X7 is powered by a 4310mAh battery that will easily last for a day and a half with moderate usage.

The bundled 50W super dart charger juices up the battery from 0-50% in just 18 minutes, which is mindblowing, to be honest.

Verdict

The Realme X7 is one of the best budget smartphones offering a mix of great performance and feature completeness for a budget under Rs.25,000.

The all-new Galaxy M51 has many firsts in the segment and for the first time features a Qualcomm processor instead of the homebrew Exynos chipset.

Design and Build Quality

The plastic back on this device looks and feels similar to the glass, but makes it lightweight and less brittle in case of an accidental fall.

Oppo F17 Pro is the recently released premium mid-range Android smartphone that stacks up against the similarly priced smartphones from Redmi, Realme and Vivo.

Priced just under Rs.25,000 in the Indian market, the Oppo F17 Pro offers a reasonable mix of features, powerful performance and build quality.

Design and Build Quality

The Oppo F17 Pro just like most other smartphones in this price segment features a glass front and a plastic back finish.

The backplate even though plastic has a dual-tone finish with matte texture for added in-hand grip.

Apart from the camera module and the dual-LED flash, the backside is pretty flat and minimal.

The power button is located to the right side of the case and the volume rockers on the left.

The 3.5mm headphone jack, USB type C port and the speaker are seen on the bottom portion.

This phone has a thickness of just 7.5mm, making it one of the slimmest and the lightest smartphone weighing at just 164g.

The construction quality is solid with excellent fit and finish.

Display

The Oppo F17 Pro sports a 6.43-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This 20:9 aspect ratio panel with a dual punch hole camera up front has an impressive screen to body ratio of 84.9%.

For protection, Oppo has added the Corning gorilla glass 3 on top to prevent accidental scratches.

This display has a pixel density of 403ppi making the visuals and text look sharper and vibrant.

Being an OLED display, the colours pop out with inky deep blacks and great dynamic range.

This OLED panel can get as bright as 800nits, making it very much legible even under direct sunlight outdoors.

If you are a mobile content consumption enthusiast, you will feel right at home with this panel.

The only minor drawback is that this display has a standard 60Hz panel unlike some other brands offering higher refresh rate panel at almost half the price.

Processor and Performance

The Oppo F17 Pro is powered by the newer Mediatek Helio P96 octa-core processor. This 12nm SoC is comparable to the likes of the SD 730G in terms of performance.

The PowerVR GM9446 GPU assists the processor in graphics handling and does a great job at that.

This device comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 128GB of UFS2.1 internal storage promising excellent day today as well as gaming performance.

The apps load faster and the multitasking experience feels smoother, thanks to the optimized Realme UI on top of the Android 10 OS.

Camera

The Oppo F17 Pro features a quad rear camera setup comprising of a 48MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor followed by twp 2MP sensors for B&W and depth mode photos.

These cameras offer excellent daylight photos and videos with a good amount of details and dynamic range.

The colours turn out to be natural and there is an option for booster colour mode inside Oppo’s camera app for those who like saturated colour tones as well.

The rear camera can record 4K videos up to 30fps.

In the front, there is a dual punch hole 16+2MP camera setup for wide-angle selfies with accurate bokeh mode selfies and natural skin tones.

Miscellaneous

The Oppo F17 Pro comes with a newer generation in-display fingerprint scanner that works fast and accurate.

The company has bundled a wired semi in-ear earphone in the package, which is quite a rarity these days.

Battery Life

The Oppo F17 Pro is powered by a 4015mAh non-removable Li-Po battery that will last for a day easily even with heavy usage.

What’s more interesting is the 30W VOOC4.0 charger included in the box. This AC adapter can juice up the battery within 53 minutes flat and 0-50% in just under 20 minutes.

Verdict

The Oppo F17 Pro is an impressively feature-rich budget Android smartphone with exceptional performance, decent battery life best suited for media consumption, thanks to the gorgeous OLED display.

Realme has been closely trailing behind Redmi for a while in the smartphone market.

With the all-new Realme 7 Pro, the company has upped the ante in the budget smartphone segment with cutting edge features that were once reserved for higher-end flagship devices.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme 7 pro is characterized by a single punch-hole display and a gradient coloured polycarbonate back body with a matte finish glass design.

The phone weighs just 182 grams and feels light and durable in hand. This phone is relatively light when compared to the Redmi Note 9 pro max and the Poco X2 and has a more one-hand usage friendly design.

The fingerprint sensor this time is located on the side and doubles up as a power button.

The front display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ for advanced scratch protection.

Realme has also given a splash-resistant coating on top of the glass to repel light water drops from sticking on the surface.

The standard set of features such as the USB type C port and the 3.5mm headphone jack is present and accounted for as well.

Display

The display is one of the unique features of this smartphone priced under Rs.25,000.

The dual single punch-hole display looks similar to that to certain premium Samsung smartphones.

The Realme 7 Pro features a 6.4-inch full HD+ AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels with a pixel density of 411ppi.

The display looks very sharp and the colours turn out to be natural and vivid.

Thanks to the excellent contrast levels, you’ll get to see inky deep blacks and popping colours that will deliver you a delightful media consumption experience.

Unlike the predecessor, the Pro version has to suffice with the standard 60Hz refresh rate which is a bit of a disappointment, to be honest, but not at all a deal-breaker of any sorts.

Processor and Performance

The Realme 7 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset, which is custom-tuned for enhanced gaming performance.

The 8GB RAM and the super-fast 128GB UFS2.1 storage will help you experience the best of mobile computing performance in the sub. Rs.25,000 price segment.

Speaking of the thermals, the phone gets slightly warm with extended hours of gaming, but nothing serious enough to throttle the performance.

Camera

The Realme 7 Pro comes with a quad-camera setup in the rear and dual cameras in the front.

The main 64MP camera comes with a 1/1.8 aperture sensor for better low light photography.

There is also an 8MP ultra-wide sensor followed by the 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor.

The images come out clean and detailed in daylight and with respectable performance in the dark.

Talking about the video, there is electronic image stabilization to keep your footage steady and smooth.

The front 32MP camera offers excellent selfies with realistic bokeh effects. Additionally, this camera also supports EIS for videos.

Miscellaneous

The Realme 7 Pro runs on the all-new Realme UI 1.0 based on Android 10. This custom skin is much more refined than the previous Color OS which realme phones shipped with in the past.

This budget Android smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner – thanks to the AMOLED display.

This newer generation scanner is fast and accurate to unlock your device just as quick as a physical scanner would do.

Battery Life

The Realme 7 Pro is powered by a 4500mAh battery that will easily last over a day with heavy usage.

To make things better, there is the 65W super dart fast charging support with the charger available in the box.

This charger will completely juice up the battery from zero to hundred per cent within 40 minutes flat.

Verdict

The Realme 7 Pro is a fantastic value for money smartphone perfect for resource-intensive tasks such as gaming.

The gorgeous AMOLED along with the powerful processor and long-lasting battery makes it a champ in its price segment.
