1. Sony WF-1000MX3

Sony WF-1000MX3

Overall Best Pick

  • Mesmerising sound output quality
  • Active Noise Cancellation
  • Intuitive touch controls

Solid build quality

Feature-rich companion app

Compatible with Android and iOS devices

No IP rating

Sony is a well known, multi-faceted Japanese conglomerate that doesn’t need any introduction among consumer electronics enthusiasts all around the world.

The WF-1000MX3 from Sony is one of their flagship premium TWS earbuds that retails for a budget under Rs.20,000 in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

The Sony WF-1000MX3, as expected, has a premium minimal design with excellent fit and finish.

The dual-coloured high-quality charging case and the ergonomically designed earbuds justify the premium price.

The charging case is magnetic and comes with a USB Type-C charging port with support for fast charging. There is a small LED strip upfront which glows in different colours according to the battery charge status.

The TWS earbuds themselves look a bit bulky but fits comfortably inside the ears without falling off easily. Sony has included three pairs of memory foam and three pairs of silicone eartips inside the box so that you can choose from the ones that fit you the best.

One major letdown of this otherwise top of the line TWS earbuds is the lack of IP rating. Sony has not mentioned whether these earbuds are water-resistant, so we advise you to be cautious enough while using them outdoors.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Sony WF-1000MX3 earbuds feature 6mm neodymium speaker drivers that sound the best in its segment, even better than the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ or the Apple Airpod Pro.

The bass notes sound very natural, without overpowering the vocals or the treble notes a bit.

The overall sound quality is very beautiful and if you’re a true audiophile, this is the best TWS earbuds you can currently purchase in the market.

Sony has incorporated the DSEE HX technology in these earbuds which will automatically upscale the low-quality soundtracks to have a better bass response and vocal clarity.

Yes, these TWS earbuds from Sony comes with ANC(Active Noise Cancellation) technology. You can turn it on or off accordingly. There is also an option to turn on the ambient sound reception where you can hear the sounds happening around you without having to remove the earbuds from the ears.

Speaking of the vocal quality in hands-free voice calls, they sound very clean without a bit of distortion on either side.

The Sony WF-1000MX3 supports the audio companion app which helps you customize almost everything on this earbud.

Right from programming the tap gestures to adjusting the equalizer presets, this companion app makes everything so easy and effortless.

And of course, this TWS earbud supports wearing detection. Once you take out either one of the earbuds from the ear, the music pauses and automatically resumes once you wear it back.

The Sony WF-1000MX3 supports NFC pairing. You can pair any NFC capable device with this earbud with just a light tap.

Battery Life

Sony claims that these earbuds can last for up to six hours of continuous music playback with the ANC turned on. Without the ANC, you can expect it to last anywhere from 7-8 hours on a single charge.

With the included charging case, you will be able to juice up the earbuds three times over completely. It takes around 1.5 hours to charge the charging case from zero to full.

Thanks to the fast charging support, with just 10 minutes of charge, you can continue to use these earbuds for up to 90 minutes.

If sound quality is your primary concern and not budget, there is currently no other TWS earbuds available in the market that matches the WF-1000MX3 from Sony.

If you’re a fitness enthusiast and want a truly wireless earphone that can be used outside, the Jabra Elite 85t checks the right boxes. Being IPX5 certified, you won’t have any trouble using this device on light rains and amidst water splashes.

5. APPLE Airpods Pro

Apple Airpods Pro

Best Wireless Earbuds for Apple Devices

  • Excellent battery life
  • Best in class sound output
  • Durable build quality

Wireless charging case

Premium fit and finish

Seamless integration with Apple products

Limited functionality with Android phones

The Airpods Pro comes as a significant upgrade to the existing Airpods second generation both in terms of features as well as design.

Design and Build Quality

Right from the packaging to the build quality, Apple has kept its charm intact.

Inside the box is a pebble-shaped charging case and inside the case (forgive the inception style description!) is a pair of gorgeous white airpods.

The earpiece of the newer Apple airpod Pro is different from the Apple Airpod second generation.

This time the Airpods comes with an extended stem with ear tips for better fit and noise isolation.

When you insert these into the case, they automatically click in place without any effort.

Speaker and Sound Quality

The sound quality is impressive from the tiny airpods from Apple. The bass levels are very well balanced with the mid and highs.

The vocals are pronounced and well distinct from the instrument sounds.

The Apple Airpods pro is one of the few earphones available in the market that will satisfy all types of music lovers – be it EDMs, hip hop or even pure vocals equally.

Since this is an Apple product, it blends seamlessly with the ecosystem.

The Airpods sync via your iCloud account meaning you can use this product with any of your Apple devices without having to pair manually each time.

Apple claims that you can use a single earpod on eight Apple devices at once. This is of great use when you are highly invested in the Apple ecosystem.

The Airpods look minimal from the outside but they aren’t so inside.

It packs in an accelerometer for the double-tap gesture that invokes either the smart assistant Siri or to play/pause the track option.

Additionally, the infrared sensors detect whether the airpods are inside the ear. If you pull out the pods from your ear, the music will automatically pause.

Battery Life

The Airpods Pro has batteries separately on each earpiece. This will last for about five hours of music playback.

Additionally, the case in which the airpods are stored features a battery that will automatically charge the pods when they are kept inside.

Altogether, you will get about 24 hours worth of playback time from the earpods and with the included charging case.

If you wish to be in line with the latest technology that delivers excellent audio quality and at the same time is packed to the brim with features, the Apple Airpods pro is not only a great choice but also doubles up as a luxury statement.

The Life P2 is a feature-rich TWS earbud from Anker priced under Rs.6,000 in India.

Design and Build Quality

The Soundcore Life P2 has a familiar design that we have seen in many TWS earbuds in this price bracket.

The in-ear style with stem design fits well inside the ear canal and offers decent passive noise cancellation.

These earbuds come with physical push buttons which might feel a bit hard initially, but you’ll get used to it over time.

The charging case of this budget TWS earbud is bulkier than usual and has a magnetic lid for easy opening and closing operation.

There is a single LED light upfront to notify about the battery and connection status as well. Behind the back of this case is a modern Type-C charging port.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Anker Soundcore Life P2 features graphene drivers inside with a balanced sound profile.

The bass is rich but not as overpowering as some of the other earbuds out there and compliments well with crisp vocals and clean treble notes.

If you are someone who loves thumping bass, we’d suggest you look for some other earbuds as these are for a more tonally balanced music listening experience.

The integrated quad microphones work decently well to capture the voice and deliver satisfactory audio call quality.

There is no distortion whatsoever when the music is played at high volume levels.

The Soundcore Life P2 comes with Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity which is power efficient and supports high quality wireless audio streaming.

This wireless TWS earbud supports the high bit rate AptX codec from Qualcomm for superior wireless audio streaming when paired with compatible devices.

7. realme Buds Air Pro

Realme Buds Pro Air

Feature-rich TWS Earbuds

  • Bass-heavy sound signature
  • Active Noise Cancellation
  • Up to 4.5 hours of battery life

Support Google fast pairing

Robust build quality

Quick charging support

Finicky smart wear detection

The Buds Air Pro from Realme is the latest TWS earbud offering from the Chinese company in the Indian market.

Loaded with features such as ANC and fast charging, how well does the Buds Air Pro stack up against its competitors? Let’s find out.

Design and Build Quality

The Reame Buds Air Pro has a somewhat similar design to that of Apple Airpods Pro. The fit and finish of the earbuds themselves feel very polished and premium for its asking price.

The pebble-shaped charging case too has robust build quality. The metallic hinges work well to provide a satisfactory open and closing experience with the charging case.

The LED light on top of the charging case is adequately bright and clear and gives you an idea about the battery life and charging status at a glance.

This mid-range TWS earbud from Realme comes with three different sets of silicone eartips to make sure you get covered no matter the size of your ears.

The bundled Type C charging cable is a bit short to our liking though.

The Reame Buds Air Pro features IPX4 water and sweat resistance and can withstand minor water splashes and sweat without any issues.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The 10mm speaker drivers inside this budget TWS earbud emphasizes bass notes and will satisfy bassheads out there for sure.

While the vocals and the treble notes remain audible for the most part, we advise you to listen to music at moderate volume levels for the safety of your ears.

You might end up having slight distortions at maximum volume levels, but that is to be expected at this price range.

Active Noise Cancellation

The Realme Buds Air Pro features ANC up to 35dB. This means that the ambient noise will be digitally blocked from getting inside your ear canal, thereby delivering a calm and pleasant music listening experience.

There are three ANC modes – first, one being completely turned off, the second one is the transparency mode where you can listen to the outside sound without taking off the earbuds and the third and final mode is the ANC on, which will completely block the ambient noises outside.

These modes can be easily cycled through by long pressing either of the left or the right earbud for three seconds.

The Realme Buds Air Pro supports SBC and AAC codec but not LDAC nor AptX.

The ANC feature works with voice calls as well and the noise-cancelling effect is evident for the most part.

Realme promises 94ms super-low latency while gaming with this TWS earbud. You can also customize the controls and update the firmware through the Realme Link app.

The smart wear detection seemed a bit finicky in our tests but we hope it will be fixed in a future firmware update soon.

Battery Life

Even with ANC turned on, expect the TWS earbuds to last anywhere from 4-4.5 hours on a single charge.

The 400mAh battery inside the charging case will let you charge the earbuds almost three times over, taking the total battery life up to 24 hours.

This device also supports a quick charge feature with which you can plug in the device for just 10 minutes and enjoy listening to music for 3 hours.

The Reame Buds Air Pro is a feature-rich ANC enabled TWS earbud with a bass-heavy sound signature and impressive battery life for a budget under Rs.5,000.

Noise is an Indian company we have known for a while now, thanks to its affordable smartwatches and action cameras.

The Noise Shots X5 Pro is a budget TWS earbud priced under Rs.3,000 with some unique features up its sleeve.

Design and Build Quality

The construction of this budget TWS earbud is from plastic materials as expected. The fit and finish seem okay for the asking price as well.

The clever design of the earpiece and the supporting ear hooks ensure a tight and secure fit inside the ear canal.

Even though the controls might appear as physical buttons, it’s touch-sensitive and responds well with even gentle taps.

The charging case of this TWS earbud is bulky and considerably heavy compared to the charging cases of other similar earbuds in this price bracket.

Speakers and Sound Quality

Oppo Enco W51

Budget TWS Earbud with ANC

  • Decent voice call quality
  • Active Noise Cancellation
  • Up to 3.5 hours of battery life

Lightweight and comfortable

Flawless in-ear detection

Customizable via HeyMelody Android app

Glossy charging case

The Enco series wireless earphones from Oppo has been receiving very positive feedback from the Indian customers from the past few months of its introduction.

The Enco W51 is a major update to the popular Enco W31 TWS earbud, this time with improved battery life and ANC (Active Noise Cancellation Feature) for just under Rs.5,000.

Design and Build Quality

The Oppo Enco W51 earbuds look the same as that of the Enco W31. The lightweight, comfortable in-ear design of the W31 was one of our top choices in its price segment and we are happy to see that Oppo has retained it on the W51 as well.

The charging case, however, is a different story. The rounded pebble-shaped design of the Enco W31 charging case has changed to a rounded square shape.

The glossy finish of the Enco W51 charging case is a fingerprint magnet and we prefer the matte finish W31 charging more than this.

The Oppo Enco W51 comes certified with IP54 dust and water resistance to withstand sweat, water splashes and dust particles.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Oppo Enco W51 delivers a pleasant audio quality with wider stage separation and decent bass response.

The vocals are crisp and clear whereas the treble notes remain audible without the bass notes overpowering.

These earbuds get sufficiently loud without any noticeable distortion whatsoever.

Active Noise Cancellation

The Oppo Enco W51 comes loaded with ANC features which will filter out ambient noises around to deliver a clean music listening experience.

The ANC on this TWS earbud works adequately okay for the asking price and the difference is pretty noticeable.

While it is not as perfect as the premium TWS earbuds such as the Apple Airpods Pro, for a budget of Rs.5,000 it’s good that Oppo delivers a working ANC solution.

The wear detection feature works flawlessly and pauses the music/video playback as soon as you remove one of the earbuds away from the ears.

Another advantage of this TWS earbud is the integration with the Oneplus HeyMelody app via which you can update firmware and customize the tap gestures.

Battery Life

The Oppo Enco W51 earbuds come with a 25mAh battery inside which will last you around 3-3.5 hours on a single full charge.

Oppo claims that if you turn off the ANC, you will get half an hour more. The charging case takes about 80 minutes to completely charge from zero to hundred per cent.

The Oppo Enco W51 is one of the most comfortable TWS earbuds available in the sub. Rs.5,000 price bracket.

Loaded with features such as ANC and dual equalizer mode, the Oppo Enco W51 is a bang for buck deal if you ask us.

10. Mivi Duopods M40

Mivi Duopods M40

Honourable Mention

  • Bass-heavy sound signature
  • Intuitive touch controls
  • Decent battery life

Integrated lanyard

Splashproof design

Monopod usability

At times vocals get overpowered by the bass

Mivi is an Indian company known for its smartphone accessories ranging from charger cables to wireless earphones.

Unlike most other brands which import their products from China, Mivi has started to manufacture its products right here in India under the Make in India initiative.

The Duopods M40 from Mivi is an affordable TWS earbud priced under Rs.2,000 in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

The Mivi Duopods M40 including the charging case and the earbuds themselves is completely made from plastic materials.

The glossy finish on the case and the earbuds make them easily susceptible to fingerprint smudges and scratches.

Mivi has also integrated a lanyard on the charging case for easy portability. Once you open this case, you will find four LED battery life indicators.

Unfortunately, the charging case of the Mivi Duopod M40 has an outdated micro USB port instead of a Type-C port.

The earbuds have slightly angled stalks that fit inside the ear canal quite comfortably. These earbuds have touch buttons that can be utilized to control the music playback.

Speaker and Sound Quality

The Mivi Duopods M40 has a bass-heavy sound signature. The vocals and treble notes are loud and clear but often gets overpowered by the lower end bass notes.

If you are a bass head, you will find the sound output quality of Duopod M40 to be just fine.

When it comes to the call quality, the experience is pleasant indoors but too much ambient noise creeps in between if you are outdoors.

There is no latency in audio playback on normal conditions, expect the latency to be significantly noticeable while gaming.

This TWS earbud from Mivi comes certified with IPX4 water resistance. You can use these earbuds during exercise workouts outdoors without the fear of damage from sweat/water splashes.

The Mivi Duopods M40 supports monopod usage mode. You can keep one of the earbuds in the charging case and use the other.

Battery Life

Mivi claims that the Duopods M40 will last up to six hours on a single full charge. However, expect a battery life of anywhere between 4-5 hours with this one.

The charging case has enough battery to completely juice up the earbuds three times over. It takes around 1.5 hours to completely charge up the earbuds and the charging case.

The Mivi Duopods M40 is a decent pair of earbuds with bass-heavy sound output, making it an ideal choice for bass lovers.

    • Hi Gaurav!

Budget TWS earbuds are not that great for audio calls but however for indoor usage they work just fine. The Soundcore Life Note (Link – that comes with four MEMS microphones is one of the best TWS earbuds that you can get for voice calls for a budget around Rs.2,000. For a budget under Rs.5,000, you can either go for the Realme Buds Air Pro (Link – or the Oppo Enco W51 (Link –, both of which comes featured with ANC for serene music listening experience and pleasant voice call experience. If you are willing to raise your budget up to Rs.10,000, the Sony WF-XB700 (Link – and the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ (Link – is a great choice.
