  • Decent build quality
BUY FROM FLIPKART

Pros

Low latency gaming mode

Smart wear detection

Comfortable and lightweight

Cons

ANC is average

Realme Buds Air 2 is the younger sibling of the popular Buds Pro TWS earbuds that Realme launched a while before.

Priced competitively under Rs.3,300, is the Realme Buds Air 2 a viable low budget alternative to the expensive Buds Air Pro? Let’s find out.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme Buds Air 2 TWS earbud features a stem design, similar to what we have seen with the likes of Oppo Enco W31 and Oppo Enco W51.

The stem here is a little thick to our liking but it blends well with the overall design. The earpiece is slightly angled to make sure the speakers rest inside the ear canal full and well.

With the suitable size eartips, it is quite comfortable to wear these TWS earbuds for a long time without any issues.

The plastic charging case with a glossy finish on top looks good but the chance of scratches appearing is high. There is a single LED up front to notify you of the charging and battery status.

The USB type-C charging port is conveniently located on the bottom side of the case. This budget TWS earbud from Realme comes certified with IPX5 splash and sweat resistance for fearless outdoor usage.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Realme Buds Air 2 features 10mm DLC drivers with one of the best sound output quality in its price segment.

The sound signature is custom tuned by industry experts and gives a slight preference to bass notes.

The bass from this TWS earbud appears deep and clean, no matter at what volume level you’re listening at. The vocals remain clear but the treble at times sounds a bit off.

Overall, with the Realme Buds Air 2, the sound quality is pretty impressive for the price and almost matches up with that of its expensive sibling, the Realme Buds Pro.

Active Noise Cancellation

This budget TWS ear bud from Realme features the much coveted active noise cancellation feature.

This feature blocks some of the ambient noises around but not all. Considering the budget,  Realme Buds Air 2 offers excellent ANC performance.

There are two microphones on each earbud to effectively provide you with a calm and serene music listening as well as voice calling experience.

Miscellaneous

There are touch controls on the earbud for media playback control. There is also the Realme link smartphone companion app with which you can customize these controls.

Realme has included a special low latency gaming mode on this TWS earbud which promises a minimal latency of 88ms while gaming. This might interest a lot of buyers who would like to use this TWS earbud for playing games such as BGMI and CS:GO Mobile.

Battery Life

On a single charge, you will get to enjoy around 4 hours of music playback with the ANC turned on with this TWS earbud. Expect the number to be high when it is turned off.

The charging case will let you recharge the TWS earbuds three – four times over completely with one full charge.

The Realme Buds Air 2 also supports fast charging. With just 10 minutes of charging, you can continue to listen to music for up to 2 hours.

Verdict

The Realme Buds Air 2 is a budget alternative to the Realme Buds Pro TWS earbuds, offering the same sound quality and features for a significantly less amount of money.

2. OnePlus Buds Z

OnePlus Buds Z
Runner-up Pick
  • Well balanced sound output
  • Low latency gaming audio
  • Up to 5 hours of battery life
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Ergonomic in-ear fit

HeyMelody companion app support

IP55 dust and water-resistant

Cons

Not for bass heads

The Buds Z is the entry-level TWS earbud from OnePlus competing against the likes from Realme and Xiaomi.

Priced under Rs.3,000, the OnePlus Buds Z is surprisingly loaded with features and has an overall tonally balanced sound output.

Design and Build Quality

The construction of the Buds Z is entirely from plastics, high-quality plastic to be precise.

The stem style design of the earbud looks similar to that of the TWS earbuds from Mi, but the thickness of the stem is much smaller here.

The charging case has a rounded pebble design with a magnetic open and close mechanism. There is a single LED outside the case to indicate the battery and the charging status.

The USB type C charging port is placed in the rear along with the pairing button.

This TWS earbud comes certified with IP55 meaning you can take this out for jogging or to the gym without having to be afraid of the dust, sweat or light water splashes.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The OnePlus Buds Z features 10mm dynamic drivers inside, which surprisingly returned a more balanced sound output rather than the bass-heavy signature we expected.

The bass present is much more mellow and the vocals and the treble notes stand out with good clarity.

If you are a bass head, you might not want to pick this up but for those who like to listen to all genres of music, the OnePlus Buds Z is certainly a good choice.

The in-call quality is excellent indoors but doesn’t expect a good experience while being outdoors in the middle of a lot of ambient noise.

Miscellaneous

This TWS earbud has touch-sensitive controls which can be somewhat customized with the help of the HeyMelody app that can be downloaded from the play store.

The audio latency while gaming seemed to be negligible and this is probably one of the best budget TWS earbuds for gaming in this price range.

Battery Life

With a single full charge, the OnePlus Buds Z will last you for up to 5 hours of music playback at the moderate volume level.

With the charging case in hand, you can expect to get the earbuds charged three times over completely.

This earbud from OnePlus supports fast charging. With a mere 10 minutes of charging, you can listen to music for up to 2 hours.

Verdict

The OnePlus Buds Z is a feature-rich in-ear style TWS earbud with balanced sound output and decent battery life.

3. boAt Airdopes 441 Pro

boAt Airdopes 441 Pro
No-frills TWS Earbuds
  • IPX7 water resistance
  • Bass-heavy sound output
  • Up to 5 hours of battery life
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Type C charging port

Instant Wake and Pair

Reverse charging feature

Cons

No volume control

The boAt is a brand that needs no introduction when it comes to discussions about earphones and headphones.

The company has numerous models in the Indian market at almost all price ranges selling like hotcakes.

The boAt airdopes 441 Pro is a truly wireless earbud priced very competently around Rs.2,999 which gives a run for their money competition to the much pricier counterparts in terms of sound quality.

Design and Build Quality

The boAt airdopes 441 Pro is entirely made of plastic materials. This is obvious considering the price tag it retails for.

However, the matte black-red finish of the charging case and the earbuds themselves feels quite okay in hand.

The charging case comes with a four LED charging indicator outside which will give you the charge status at a glance.

The earbud design is almost similar to other TWS earbuds we have seen in the budget price segment. The earpiece comes with rubber padded ear hook support for a better fit inside the ear canals.

The multi-function touch-sensitive buttons on the earbuds feel intuitive and offer responsive feedback as well.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The boAt airdopes 441 Pro features a 6mm speaker driver compared to the 8mm and 10mm drivers found on other earbuds.

However, don’t get fooled by the numbers. This 6mm smaller driver sounds as good as any of the products reviewed in this list.

These drivers deliver punchy bass which we feel is one of the best in the segment.

The vocals and treble notes are equally loud and clear, resulting in overall immersive sound output.

There is surprisingly good stage separation between the tones and the instruments are distinctly audible, even at maximum volume levels.

Miscellaneous

The boAt airdopes 441 Pro comes with IPX7 water resistance. This means you can take these earbuds outdoors without any second thoughts.

The multi-function touch-sensitive earbuds support voice assistant triggers which can be used to control smartphone actions remotely within the 10m range.

This budget TWS earbud features IWP ( Instant Wake and Pair). Once you have paired the earbuds with your device, they will quickly connect as soon as you open the lid.

This is not a radical feature anymore, but the IWP works so well with the boAt air dopes 441 Pro that the connection is near-instantaneous.

The voice call quality from the inline microphone is decent indoors but leaves a lot to be desired outdoors.

Battery Life

The 35mAh battery on these TWS earbuds lasts for up to five hours on a single charge with moderate volume levels.

The 2600mAh charging case can be used to juice up these earbuds multiple times over and can be also utilized to reverse charge other devices via the type C port.

Verdict

If bass-heavy music is your thing, don’t look any further.

The boAt airdopes 441 Pro delivers punchy bass notes, better than most other truly wireless earbuds in its price segment.

  • Bass-heavy sound output
  • Up to 7 hours of battery life
BUY FROM FLIPKART

Pros

Comfort-fit design

Capable of monopod style usage

Type C charging port

Cons

Treble notes get muffled rarely

Soundcore is one of the popular audio product series from the brand Anker, which is known for its portable power bricks and cable accessories.

The Soundcore Life Note is an in-ear style TWS earbud with an extended stem design, similar to the second-generation Apple AirPods.

Design and Build Quality

Even though the Souncore Life note strikes some similarities with the yesteryear Apple AirPods, it does still have a unique design that looks refreshing.

The angled earpiece with comfortable silicone ear tips helps in an excellent snug fit and decent passive noise cancellation.

Inside the box, there are four different sized ear tips excluding the one pre-applied, so you will get one that fits your ear for sure.

The matte plastic case feels decent enough in hand and offers a good grip while holding it.

The single charge indicator LED is placed in the front which notifies you when to charge the case.

This budget TWS earbud has physical control buttons instead of touch-sensitive buttons, that does everything except volume control.

Overall for a budget under Rs.3,000, the Soundcore Life note has a robust build quality well worth its asking price.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Soundcore Life note features a 6mm graphene speaker driver which excels in bass reproduction.

If you are a basshead, you will love this TWS earbud for sure. The mid-range and the treble notes sound decent enough to let you enjoy almost all genres of music without any issues whatsoever.

This is an aptX enabled TWS earbud. This means you will get to enjoy superior quality wireless audio streaming quality when paired with aptX supported smartphones.

It is quite rare to find aptX codec support in this budget, so if you’re one looking for that – this is it.

The inline microphone works well during voice calls, without much distortion in audio quality on both sides.

Miscellaneous

Soundcore provides 18 months of warranty on this one. This is much more than what other brands give you in this price bracket.

The charging case of this device has a USB type C port. This will let you charge the case with the same cable that you use with your smartphone.

Battery Life

The Soundcore Life note earbuds last considerably longer than other products we’ve listed in this article – about 7 hours on a single charge.

The charging case with its built-in 920mAh battery pack can charge the earbuds four times over, taking the total battery life up to 30 hours.

Verdict

The Souncore Life note is an aptX supported in-ear style wireless earbud which comes with a sound signature that emphasizes bass.

This earphone with its long-lasting battery life and robust build quality is one of the products worth checking out for a budget under Rs.3,000.

Noise is an Indian company we have known for a while now, thanks to its affordable smartwatches and action cameras.

The Noise Shots Neo 2 is a budget TWS earbud priced under Rs.3,000 with some unique features up its sleeve.

Design and Build Quality

The construction of this budget TWS earbud is from plastic materials as expected. The fit and finish seem okay for the asking price as well.

The clever design of the earpiece and the supporting ear hooks ensure a tight and secure fit inside the ear canal.

Even though the controls might appear as physical buttons, it’s touch-sensitive and responds well with even gentle taps.

The charging case of this TWS earbud is a bit bulky and considerably heavy compared to the charging cases of other similar earbuds in this price bracket.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Noise Shots Neo 2 features 6mm graphene drivers, with good quality sound output rich in bass and with clean vocals followed by tingling highs.

This budget TWS earbud supports SBC and AAC codec for the best wireless audio streaming quality.

  • Decent voice call quality
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Lightweight form factor

Type-C charging port

Voice assistant integration

Cons

Average build quality

Mivi is an Indian company popular for its audio accessories lineup including wireless neckbands and Bluetooth speakers.

The DuoPods M80 is an AptX codec supported, budget TWS earbud from Mivi retailing in the Indian market for a budget under Rs.2,000.

Design and Build Quality

The Mivi DuoPods M80 has a rounded rectangular charging case made from plastic materials. The quality of the construction doesn’t feel that inspiring but given the affordable price tag, it is quite acceptable.

One good thing about this charging case is that it features the modern Type-C charging port at the rear. There are four LED indicators upfront to notify you of the remaining battery level as well.

Opening the case greets you with the two stem shaped TWS earbuds tucked inside. These earbuds feature a glossy plastic finish, which honestly feels a bit cheap.

The in-ear design of the earbuds helps them to securely fit inside the ear canal without easily falling off from the ear.

The DuoPods M80 comes certified with IPX4 water resistance if that’s something you’re worried about.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Mivi DuoPods M80 features 6mm dynamic drivers inside which covers an impressive frequency response spectrum of 20Hz to 20KHz.

Thanks to the AptX codec support, the DuoPod M80 sound signature is well-balanced and ideal for listening to a wide genre of music.

Miscellaneous

7. Noise Air Buds

Noise Air buds
Budget All-rounder
  • Balanced sound output
  • Comfortable semi in-ear design
  • Decent battery life
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Minimal, ergonomic design

Responsive touch gesture controls

Lightweight

Cons

Less bassy sound output

Noise is an Indian company known for its affordable products including earphones and smartwatches.

The Noise Air Buds is a budget TWS earbud with a semi in-ear design that retails in the Indian market for just Rs.2,299.

Design and Build Quality

The Noise Air Buds, as we mentioned earlier, have a semi in-ear stalk design. This design is less intrusive than those earbuds with in-ear design and offers a perfect balance between comfort and sound quality.

The pebble-shaped charging case has a minimal design that looks and feels premium for the price. Weighing at 50g, this charging case can be termed lightweight for its 500mAh battery inside.

There is a small indentation on the front to open the lid easily with a single hand. The single LED charge indicator is also on the front side whereas the USB Type-C charging port can be found on the rear side.

The earbuds themselves weigh just 4.5g and are very lightweight and ergonomic. This earbud from Noise has touch gesture controls that work relatively well in response to the user input.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Noise Air Buds feature a relatively large 13mm speaker driver inside the earpiece.

Surprisingly, this TWS earbud delivers a balanced sound signature rather than the expected heavy bass sound output from the large driver inside.

The bass is neutral, but the vocals and the higher end treble notes sound clean and crisp, even at high volume levels.

If you’re a bass head, skip this purchase, but a purist for vocals, the Noise Air Buds is a good choice.

Miscellaneous

The voice call quality of this TWS earbud turns out to be decent indoors. If you attend the calls outdoors, there are noticeable distortions in the sound on both ends.

The touch gesture controls on this device work well. You can single tap the right and left earbud stalk for volume control, double-tap to play/pause music and triple tap to skip tracks.

This TWS earbud has minimal to zero latency while listening to songs or while watching videos but while playing games, the latency is somewhat noticeable.

Battery Life

The Noise Air Buds lasts for up to four hours on a single full charge. The charging case holds enough battery power to juice up the earbuds completely over three times.

It takes around 1.5 hours to completely charge the charging case with a standard wall charger.

Verdict

The Noise Air Buds is a semi in-ear type TWS earbud with a well-balanced sound output signature.

If you are someone who loves listening to a lot of podcasts and watching TV shows and movies, this might be a good choice for you.

BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Sturdy in-ear fit

IPX5 water-resistant

Intuitive touch controls

Cons

Bulky

The Noise Shots Rush is a budget TWS earbud with a peculiar design that makes it suitable for workouts and active lifestyle usage.

Priced at just Rs.2,999, the Shots Rush comes loaded with interesting features such as multiple EQ modes and a dedicated gaming mode.

Design and Build Quality

As we mentioned earlier, the Noise Shots Rush has a unique form factor that is designed with practicality in mind rather than aesthetic beauty,

These earbuds are larger than most other earbuds in this price range and come with integrated wingtips.

These wingtips will ensure that the TWS earbuds will stay firm on your ears no matter what.

The charging case too is large and bulky and is made from plastic materials. The rubber textured coating over the chassis of the case helps in having an excellent grip.

The Noise Shots Rush comes with IPX5 certification for splash and sweat resistance for added protection.

One slight disappointment we have with this earbud is that the charging case has an outdated micro USB port rather than a newer USB Type-C one.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Noise Shots Rush features a relatively larger 12mm speaker driver which is tuned to deliver music notes with an emphasis on bass.

This budget TWS earbud features three different EQ modes namely – Rock, Pop and Classic which you can easily cycle through by tapping on the earbuds four times.

This budget TWS earbud from Noise delivers rich and clean bass with clean vocals and tingling highs.

The wider soundstage and the zero distortion music playback is a plus in this price bracket.

Miscellaneous

The Noise Shots Rush has a dedicated gaming mode that can be activated by tapping the earbud three times.

With games such as PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile, we didn’t notice any lag while playing.

The specially designed earpiece ensures that there is no sound leakage and this results in a calm and serene listening experience.

Battery Life

The Noise Shots Rush will last you for up to 6 hours on a single full charge. With the bundled charging case, you will be able to charge up the earbuds three times over.

Verdict

The Noise Shots Rush is one of the best budget TWS earbuds priced under Rs.3,000 suited for workouts and gaming purposes.

9. Realme ‎Buds Air Neo

Realme earbuds Neo
Honourable Mention
  • Low latency gaming mode
  • Clean bass output
  • Three hours of battery life
BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Apple AirPods design

Decent build quality

Bluetooth v5.0

Cons

No in-ear detection

Realme Buds Neo is the direct answer to the newly launched Mi TWS 2 airpod style earbuds in the Indian market.

The Buds Neo comes with some of the features stripped from its elder brother, the Buds Air 2 which we have already discussed under the Best wireless earbuds in India article.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme Buds Neo looks almost similar to the Buds Air 2, which again resembles the Apple AirPods.

Made from good quality plastics, there isn’t anything much to write about the build quality of these earbuds.

They seem pretty fine for the price to say the least. The earbuds stay fit inside the ear canals for the most part, but those with smaller ears would face some struggle it seems.

The case comes with a micro-USB port for charging rather than the newer USB Type C port, which is a bit of a letdown.

Since most devices today come with USB Type C, you may have to carry a separate micro USB cable just to juice up this device.

Speakers and Sound Quality

The Realme Buds Neo comes with a large 13mm speaker driver with accentuated importance for bass.

The overall sound profile seems very decent for the price with deep, rich bass and complementing higher notes and vocals.

There is no sound distortion even at higher volumes, which is a great thing considering the price of this earbud.

Miscellaneous

The Buds Neo doesn’t have an optical sensor for in-ear detection. This means the audio won’t pause automatically when you pull out the earbuds from the ear.

Another thing missing is the secondary noise cancellation mic. However, this earbud comes with the same low latency gaming mode for lag-free audio during gaming sessions.

Battery Life

The earbuds can last for up to 3 hours on a single charge. Including the case, the total playback time is approximately 15 hours on average.

The earbuds along with the charging case take 2 hours to completely charge up from zero to a hundred.

Verdict

The Realme Buds Neo is a super low-cost feature-rich truly wireless earbud which is a stripped-down version of Realme’s Buds Air 2 earbuds.

Retaining the super low latency gaming mode feature and decent sound quality with acceptable battery life, the Realme Buds Neo is a great choice for Rs.3,000.
