The Honor 9A has a glass front, plastic back design with a plastic frame in between. This smartphone from Honor weighs just 185g despite having a beefy 5000 mAh battery inside.

The glossy glass finish with attractive colour options makes this phone look premium in hand.

This is a dual SIM smartphone with a dedicated SD card slot for memory expansion without sacrificing the second SIM slot.

The fingerprint scanner on this device is located in the rear, placed comfortably in the natural finger resting position for easy unlocking.

The Honor 9A comes with a micro USB port which is a bit of bummer since there are smartphones in the price range with the modern USB Type C port out there.

This port supports USB OTG, meaning you can hook up a portable media drive to this phone to browse or view the files inside.

Display

The Honor 9A has a 6.3-inch HD IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. This roughly translates to a pixel count of 297ppi which is a very much acceptable number for this price range.

Thanks to the waterdrop notch camera on top, the Honor 9A has a screen to body ratio of 81.3%, making it perfect for media consumption.

The 20:9 aspect ratio of this display also makes this device easy to use with a single hand.

Processor

The Honor 9A is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 which is plenty powerful to carry out almost all day to day tasks with ease.

The 3GB RAM onboard and the 64GB storage will further help this device to perform smooth, even with light multi-tasking.

If you are buying this smartphone for gaming, we’d suggest you not to. The Helio P22 can handle casual gaming but not titles such as PUBG or Fortnite.

Camera

The Honor 9A features a triple rear camera setup which consists of a 13MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots.

In the front, there is an 8MP shooter with support for HDR photos.

Both the front and rear cameras can record Full HD video up to 30fps.

Software

The Honor 9A runs on Android 10 OS but doesn’t come with the regular Google services such as the play store or the GMS (Google Messaging Service). Instead, you will get the Huawei App Gallery and the HMS (Huawei Messaging Service).

Please keep in mind if you are into downloading a lot of apps onto your phone. Some of the mainstream popular apps are not yet available on the Huawei App gallery as of yet.

Battery

The Honor 9A packs in a large 5000mAh Li-ion battery. The company claims that this battery can last well over two days of heavy to medium use.

There is also a reverse charging feature where you can take power from this battery to juice up your devices such as wireless earbuds and Bluetooth neckbands.
