Pros

Stereo speakers

IR blaster

Fast charging support

Cons

Heavy

After the release of POCO F1, the series was discontinued for a while, and afterwards, Poco started rolling out different models and the M series is one of them.

The Poco M3 is a budget smartphone priced at Rs.9,999. This mobile phone comes with an attractive design and a mid-range Qualcomm CPU that delivers a good everyday performance.

Design and Build Quality

Designwise, the Poco M3 is similar to the Oneplus 8T cyberpunk edition and to be honest, it does make the smartphone look standout from the rest of its competitors.

The back is plastic and it manages to look unique with a glass accent and large size POCO logo. The rear panel has a rough, almost leathery type texture that adds a fine grip to the hand.

Using this smartphone with a single hand for too long is a tough task as it has a thick profile and weighs 197 grams.

Poco has implemented the fingerprint scanner on the power button to keep the rear panel aesthetics on par.

This Poco device has stereo speakers which are usually found on premium devices and the sound output is well-balanced and loud.

Display

The Poco M3 features a 6.53-inch Full HD+ dewdrop display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

This panel is covered by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 ensuring that the display is protected from scratches and survives minor accidental drops.

Having an FHD+ panel at this price point is nothing less than a blessing. The content looks sharp and detailed with a good contrast ratio.

With a peak brightness level of 400 nits, you can easily operate the display indoors but usability under direct sunlight is average.

Processor and Performance

The Poco M3 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 octa-core processor which is powerful as well as power efficient.

Poco M3 is full of surprises – the 4GB LPDDR4x RAM is not something that you will find inside every smartphone priced under Rs.10,000.

Performance-wise, the Poco M3 is one of the best smartphones in this price segment. Even with multitasking, there is no lag or stutters whatsoever.

Games such as COD: Mobile runs just fine without too many frame drops.

The built-in storage of 64GB UFS2.2 is plenty enough to store media files and documents. However even if you run out of space, Poco has provided a dedicated microSD slot.

This smartphone runs the Android 10 out of the box and the applied UI on top of it is MIUI 12. This time they trimmed down the ads but pre-installed junk is still there which can be uninstalled manually to free up space.

Camera

The Poco M3 has a 48MP main camera supported by the 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor.

Photos taken in daylight from the main camera look superb considering the price point. There is more than enough detail, balanced sharpness, and good colours.

The depth sensor helps you out with the portrait shots and the outcomes are impressive.

Using the night mode will help you get detailed photos in the dark without much noise but the colours turn out a bit soft.

The 8MP front shooter is decent. The selfie photos have a bit of noise and the skin tones are not too accurate.

Battery Life

The Poco M3 is powered by a 6000mAh battery that will easily last you for two days with moderate usage.

The included 18W charger takes around 2.45 hours to completely juice up. This device supports fast-charging up to 22.5W.

Verdict

The Poco M3 punches above its weight class offering a large FHD+ display, incredible battery life, and excellent stereo speakers.

Pros

Cons

No bundled fast charger

Redmi 9 Prime is the entry-level 9 series smartphone from Redmi which is placed just below the Redmi note 9.

Starting at Rs.9,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant, the Redmi 9 prime is one of the most value for money smartphones available in the sub. Rs.10,000 price segment.

Design and Build Quality

The Redmi 9 Prime has a glass front and a plastic back with a plastic frame in the middle.

This helps the smartphone to be weighed less than 200g even with a large 5000mAh processor.

Redmi calls the design of this smartphone the Aura 360 pattern which we are familiar with the likes of POCO X2.

The circular gradient pattern around the camera looks and feels very premium.

Redmi has included a water repellent coating over the chassis to offer some sort of protection from liquid spills and light rains.

The physical fingerprint scanner on this smartphone is placed below the vertical camera module, just like that on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Display

This is one area where Redmi 9 Prime beats its competition by a significant margin.

While smartphones such as Realme Narzo and Motorola G8 Power lite come with HD+ displays in this price segment, Redmi has decided to include a 6.53-inch full HD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

This display is crazy good for the price in terms of colour accuracy and sharpness. It has a peak brightness of up to 400 nits for easy sunlight visibility as well.

Protected with Corning gorilla glass 3 on top, the Note 9 Prime has a pixel density close to 400ppi, which makes it quite comparable with the display of the higher-priced Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Processor and Performance

The Redmi 9 Prime is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 CPU, which is manufactured on a 12nm process.

This chipset is almost twice better than the Snapdragon 439 which we had on the Redmi 8 smartphone.

Available in one RAM and two storage variants, both the 4GB/64GB and the 4GB/128GB Redmi 9 Prime is very fast and responsive.

Running on the latest Android 10 OS with MIUI skin on top, the Redmi 9 prime can even play games without any issues.

You will be able to enjoy titles such as BGMI and FAUG with medium graphics settings and consistent frame rates.

Camera

The Redmi Note 9 has a quadruple rear camera setup which consists of a 13MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 5MP macro camera and 2MP depth-sensing unit.

The front camera is an 8MP shooter with HDR and panorama support.

Both these camera units can capture videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30fps.

Battery Life

The Redmi 9 prime packs a massive 5020mAh Li-ion battery inside.

This battery is the same as that of the one found on its elder siblings – the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro series.

With moderate to heavy usage, the Redmi 9 Prime is rated to last over two days on a single charge.

This device supports 18W fast charging if you can invest in a separate charger.

Tecno is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer with a strong presence in the south Asian markets with its affordable, feature-rich Android smartphone.

The Tecno POVA smartphone comes with the MediaTek G series processor and the device gives a satisfactory performance on gaming.

Design and Build Quality

The Tecno POVA smartphone has a polycarbonate back panel with curved edges. This device features a textured finish on the back panel which feels premium and durable in hand.

The slanting line design at the rear side of the phone improves the look of the smartphone and with the light purple colour backplate, the device shines even more when light directly hits the back.

This smartphone feels quite hefty compared to other devices that come within this price range. It weighs 220 grams, which is acceptable for its form factor and a huge 6000mAh battery inside.

The rear camera bump rests flush with the chassis so that the smartphone rests perfectly fine on flat surfaces.

The fingerprint scanner at the back works flawlessly and the fingers are registered quickly without any delay.

Display

The Tecno POVA smartphone features a 6.8-inch HD+ Dot-in display with a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels.

This thin bezel display has good colour accuracy and the quality of visuals are decent enough, considering the 264ppi pixel density.

The display could be sharper, however, you won’t find any pixelation on display while streaming youtube videos or watching your favourite movie.

With the peak brightness level of 480nits, you can use this panel indoors as well as outdoors without any serious issues.

Processor and Performance

The Tecno POVA is powered by a 12nm based MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor.

This gaming-centric powerful processor along with the 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage takes the performance to the next level.

You will be able to run multiple apps side by side without any problems on this device. Even with gaming, the Tecno POVA works relatively smoothly and lag-free.

This device comes pre-installed with the HiOS 7.0 based on the latest Android 10. This UI contains some bloatware apps which can be manually removed.

The Tecno POVA has a dedicated gaming mode that allows the phone to clean up and reserve the memory for games, resulting in a lag-free gaming experience for the most part.

Camera

The Tecno POVA comes with a quad-camera setup at the rear. The primary 13MP lens captures crystal clear images in daylight, the primary is followed by the two 2MP cameras and an AI sensor.

The portrait shots taken with this device turns out to be good with decent background blurring and edge detection.

The macro lens on this device lets you shoot close up images as close as 4cm. Furthermore, the punch hole 8MP selfie shooter in the front gives decent results as well.

Battery Life

Tecno POVA smartphone is powered by a gigantic 6000mAh battery which will easily last you two days of intense usage.

If you are a casual user, expect the phone to last up to three days on a single charge,

Tecno bundles an 18W fast charger in the box, which takes almost 2-2.30hours to juice up the battery from 0-100%.

Verdict

The Tecno POVA smartphone is an all-rounder in terms of daily performance and gaming.

With the decent cameras on board and impressive battery life, the Tecno POVA is one of the best value for money devices you can get your hands on for a budget under Rs.10,000.

Pros

Decent build quality

Dedicated SD card slot

A fast and accurate fingerprint scanner

Cons

Outdated eMMC5.1 storage

Poco M2 Reloaded is one of the entry-level smartphones from POCO that delivers an excellent value for money proposition in the sub. Rs.10,000 price range.

Design and Build Quality

The glass front, plastic back and the plastic frame in between complete the POCO M2 Reloaded design.

The front glass is protected by the Corning gorilla glass 3 to minimise the chances of accidental scratches.

POCO has also added a water repellent coating on top which will help dispose of water droplets and sweat easily from the chassis.

This device is available in two exciting colours for you to choose from.

The design is similar to the Redmi lineup of smartphones, which is very odd since POCO is mostly rebranding Redmi phones these days with little or no change whatsoever.

The USB type C port on this device supports USB OTG to plug in external media devices for direct file access.

The speaker sounds reasonably loud and clear but exhibits some distortion at maximum volume levels.

Display

The POCO M2 Reloaded features a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

This is an IPS LCD with excellent viewing angles and colour accuracy.

With a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9, thanks to the waterdrop notch upfront, this smartphone is somewhat usable with a single hand.

Having a pixel density of 397ppi, this is one of the best displays we have ever come across in a sub. Rs.10,000 smartphone.

Processor and Performance

The POCO M2 Reloaded is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.

This is a gaming-centric chipset with a powerful Mali G52 GPU that performs well with games such as BGMI and Free Fire.

Not only that, the 4GB RAM on this device is one of a kind in this price segment that along with 64GB of eMMC internal storage makes the performance buttery smooth, even with multitasking.

If you are looking for a budget Performance powerhouse, there is none better than POCO M2 in this price segment as of now.

Camera

The POCO M2 Reloaded has a quad rear camera with a 13MP primary shooter followed by an 8MP ultrawide sensor, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth mode sensor.

These cameras take good quality photos and videos in daylight but fail to impress during low light/night time.

The maximum video recording resolution of the rear camera is FHD at 30fps.

The front camera is a standard 8MP shooter that takes decent selfies, once again in well-lit conditions.

Battery Life

The POCO M2 Reloaded is powered by a 5000mAh battery that will last easily for a day and a half with moderate to heavy usage.

This device supports 18w fast charging but ships with a standard 10w charger.

Verdict

The POCO M2 Reloaded is possibly the best smartphone that money can get you around Rs.10,000 in India.

A full-fledged FHD+ display, powerful processor and long-lasting battery are what you are guaranteed to get with this purchase.

BUY FROM AMAZON

Pros

Responsive fingerprint scanner

Decent build quality

Excellent battery life

Cons

Hefty

Samsung is facing heat from Chinese smartphone brands such as Xiaomi and Realme in the budget segment where Samsung’s offerings performed piss poor when compared with its competitor products.

The Samsung Galaxy M12 is a budget smartphone equipped with a power-efficient chipset, currently priced at Rs.12,642.

Design and Build Quality

The Samsung Galaxy M12 has a simple design. The back panel of this smartphone has a dual-textured and matte finish which makes it stand out from the rest of the competition.

To be honest, we are not fans of this type of design. The textured finish sure provides a nice grip but design-wise, it looks pretty dated.

Weighing at 221 grams, this device is heavy and it is thick so it also feels like carrying a brick in your pocket.

In this price range, you usually don’t get a noise-cancelling mic but the Samsung Galaxy M12 has it at the top frame which is a good thing.

This smartphone features a modern Type-C port and audio jack at the bottom section. The power button which also acts as a fingerprint scanner is placed on the right frame along with the volume adjustment keys.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy M12 sports a 6.5-inch 90Hz HD+ with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.

Well, It is quite surprising to see a high refresh rate panel from Samsung at this price point. You will get a buttery smooth animation when you scroll through a webpage or using your smartphone casually.

The display bezels are relatively slim and for media consumption purposes this panel is just excellent as the colour reproduction is good and there is no noticeable pixelation.

The panel brightness is adequate for indoor use but under direct sunlight the legibility is poor.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy M12 is equipped with the new Exynos 850 octa-core SoC designed on 8-nm architecture.

This chipset offers good performance with minimal power consumption.

The 4GB DDR4 RAM onboard easily handles apps like social media, calling, messaging, and so on. While multitasking you don’t find lag but there is a slight delay in-app switching and opening which is expected from all budget smartphones.

Samsung has provided 64GB of eMMC storage inside in which you can store files offline and the apps you installed from the play store will also acquire space from the internal storage. If you need more storage then do prefer using that dedicated micro SD card slot.

The One UI 3.1 based on Android 11 OS works smoothly but it has pre-installed junk from Samsung which you can disable manually.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy M12 sports a quad-camera setup at the back. This device has a 48MP main sensor, 5MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.

The image captured in bright-lit conditions looks clear and vivid.

However, as the lighting goes dim you will notice a significant amount of noise in the photos, even with the LED flashlight night photos results are not that satisfying.

It’s good to see the ultrawide lens – it allows you to capture a wide field of view. The only problem is with the sharpness, we hope that it will improve within the OTA update.

The macro lens takes decent photos in close-range photography. You can use Live Focus mode from the camera app to click bokeh photos.

The 8MP selfie shooter takes decent selfies in a well-lit environment and the portrait selfies come out clear.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy M12 is powered by a 6000mAh lithium-polymer battery that will easily last for about a day and a half with normal to heavy use.

The bundled 15W power adapter will juice up the battery levels from up to 0 – 100% within 2.30 hours.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy M12 is for those who need a decent smartphone with good performance and battery life for a price of around Rs.12,000.

It has a power-efficient chipset, good quality display, decent design, and huge battery and that is all a regular user needs.

Pros

Elegant design

Cons

Fast charger is not included in the box

Tecno smartphones are getting popular a lot lately as the brand offers a feature-rich smartphone lineup within an affordable price bracket.

Tecno Camon 16 is a powerful budget smartphone equipped with a MediaTek processor and is priced under Rs.10,000.

Design and Build Quality

The Tecno Camon 16 looks flashy and premium at the same time. The back is made out of plastic and the bright colour scheme makes it stand out from the rest of its competitors with dull black finish.

This smartphone has a large form factor, a thick side profile, and is heavy at 207 grams.

The Techno Camon 16 features an outdated micro USB port at the bottom frame alongside the primary microphone and speaker grille.

The fingerprint sensor is on the backside and is easily accessible.

The power button and volume rockers are positioned on the right side of the middle frame and all of them offer clicky feedback on press.

Display

The Tecno Camon 16 sports a 6.8-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels.

The display has a maximum brightness of 480 nits and the smartphone is convenient to use while indoor or outdoor.

This panel has relatively narrow bezels all around, offering an immersive media consumption experience. The colours look decent and the brightness levels are sufficient for indoors usage.

You will love reading books or watching movies on this panel as it is large and bright.

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of the Tecno Camon 16 is the MediaTek Helio G70 octa-core SoC.

It is an efficient processor that delivers good everyday performance and remains power efficient at the same time.

The 4GB of RAM onboard is more than enough on a smartphone to run basic applications such as social media, calling, camera, messaging without any lags or stutters.

In terms of storage, you will be getting 64GB of inbuilt storage and there will be ample storage to keep all your files offline and installing new applications.

The device comes pre-installed with the HIOS 6.0 based on Android 10 OS.

Camera

The Tecno Camon 16 has a quadruple rear camera setup at the rear consisting of a 64MP primary camera, 2MP depth, and macro and an AI sensor.

The 64MP lens captures good photos in daylight. You also get to enjoy the super night mode but photos aren’t super as the company claims and has considerable digital noise.

You can capture fine bokeh photos and decent macro pictures with the AI sensor and the macro shooter.

The feature-rich camera app has the live bokeh video feature which blurs the background while recording video, automatically focussing on the subject.

The 16MP front-facing camera captures sharp selfies with good skin colour tone, provided the light condition is apt.

Battery Life

The Tecno Camon 16 is powered by a 5000mAh lithium battery and it will provide power backup for an entire day even with heavy use.

Within the box, you will only get a 10W charger but the device does support an 18W power adapter which will help you charge the battery quickly.

Verdict

The Tecno Camon 16 is a perfect choice for media enthusiasts and people who love using larger screen smartphones.

For the budget under Rs.10,000, this device offers a good amount of features an entry-level user can ask for.

Cons

Slow charging

Infinix is a Hongkong based company popular for its budget smartphones in developing countries.

The Infinix Hot 10S packs in the most value for money internals when it comes to a smartphone priced under Rs.10,000.

Design and Build Quality

The Infinix Hot 10S has a geometrical design that looks amazing and is flashy. The in-hand feel of this phone is astonishing and it won’t slip from its hands that easily.

The construction is of plastic, but that doesn’t make the device cheap in hand.

Weighing at 210 grams, this device does feel heavy in hand and is not ideal for single-handed usage.

One major letdown of the Infinix Hot 10S in terms of the hardware design is the lack of a USB Type C port. This device still ships with the old micro USB port from the past era.

The rear section of the smartphone houses the camera module along with a fingerprint scanner for quick and secure one-touch login.

Display

The Infinix Hot 10S features a large 6.82-inch 90Hz HD+ display with a resolution of 1640 x 720 pixels.

The display of this smartphone has an adequate brightness level which is good enough for indoor as well as outdoor usage.

The colours look vivid and the blacks are defined. This is an IPS panel with excellent viewing angles.

The 90Hz refresh rate provides a buttery smooth experience and with the 180Hz touch sampling rate, the panel responds faster than its competitors.

Processor and Performance

The Infinix Hot 10S is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The processor performs well when it comes to casual usage and multi-tasking, even when it comes to gaming, this chipset does not break a sweat.

If you are more into media consumption and normal usage, this is the best buy for the price.

This new model of 10 series comes pre-installed with the XOS 7.2 developed on Android 11 OS. The UI has no ads but it does contain some pre-installed apps which you can remove.

Camera

The Infinix Hot 10 features a triple rear camera setup. The main sensor is a 48MP shooter followed by a 2MP depth sensor, and an AI sensor.

The photos from this setup appear detailed and sharp under favourable lighting conditions. This smartphone is capable of recording full HD videos at 30fps as well.

The camera app has a bunch of useful modes like slow motion, time-lapse, portrait, and many more to click better pictures.

The front camera is an 8MP sensor with a dual-LED flashlight in the front which you can use in low-lit conditions.

Battery Life

This smartphone is powered by a 6000mAh battery inside which will last you for a full day and a half worth of heavy usage.

The bundled 10W power adapter will juice up the power levels from 0 – 100% in 3 hours.

The Infinix Hot 10S is for those who want good battery life and decent camera performance for a budget of Rs.10,000.

Pros

Good battery life

1-year warranty

Rear fingerprint scanner

Cons

micro-USB port

Realme C-series is said to be the most active smartphone series in the budget segment.

The realme C21Y is an affordable smartphone packed with a good amount of features and is priced at just Rs.8,999.

Design and Build Quality

The realme C21Y has a polycarbonate back with a geometrical design that looks good but this design is not extraordinary – realme has used it multiple times in their previous smartphones.

Even though this smartphone weighs 200 grams, this device does not feel heavy in the hands, thanks to its excellent weight distribution.

The back panel contains a camera module, fingerprint scanner, and a cut-out for the speaker. The audio quality from the speaker is average at the best.

For some reason, realme has decided to go with the outdated micro USB port instead of a modern USB-C port.

Display

The realme C21Y sports a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.

The display of this smartphone is bright and you will be able to use the device comfortably indoors as well as outdoors.

The colours of the visuals look punchy and vivid and the panel is ideal for media consumption. You can view HD and FHD videos without a problem also there is no noticeable pixelation.

Processor and Performance

The realme C21Y is powered by the Unisoc T610 octa-core processor designed on 12-nm architecture and it’s hard to believe, but it performs better than some of the MediaTek G series processors.

The 4GB RAM makes sure that this device runs casual tasks such as web browsing and media consumption just fine.

The gaming performance of this smartphone can be termed as decent at best. You will be able to play most of the games at 30fps.

This device has 64GB of internal storage in which you can store all your files and folders.

Unfortunately, the realme C21Y comes pre-installed with Realme UI developed on Android 10 OS which is not bad but knowing its release date it should’ve come with the Android 11 right out of the box.

Camera

The realme C21Y encompasses a triple camera setup at the back consisting of a 13MP primary, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro camera.

The main camera takes decent photos with punchy colours and excellent sharpness. The portrait photos come out quite impressive but the macro shots need more detailing.

You can record FHD videos from the rear camera and you will get plenty of modes to play with.

The 5MP selfie camera does capture sharp photos but the skin tone looks way too reddish. The portrait options do not work in the front camera.

Battery Life

The realme C21Y houses a 5000mAh lithium polymer battery and it will last up to an entire day with heavy use.

The bundled 10W charger will juice up the battery in almost 3 hours from zero to hundred percent.

Verdict

The realme C21Y is for the basic users who just need a smartphone for work and casual use such as calling, messaging, social media, and entertainment.

The back panel has a line design with a gradient colour scheme that looks unique and refreshing.

This device is quite big and with the large battery inside it does feel heavy in the hand.

The power key and volume controls are placed on the right side, the top frame is empty and the bottom frame houses a micro USB and an audio jack.

This phone is released in June 2021 yet it still features that old-school micro USB port which is something we don’t like in particular.

Display

The Tecno Spark 7T has a 6.52-inch HD+ dewdrop notch display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

This display is adequately bright for indoor use and the visuals are even readable under the sunlight.

The colour reproduction of this panel is decent and the visual does not look pixelated, thanks to the decent pixel density of 269-PPI.

You can stream Youtube videos in HD quality and experience on content consumption is delightful as the panel has a massive 90% of screen to body ratio.

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of the Tecno Spark 7T is the MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor with a clock speed of 2.3GHz.

This device has 4GB DDR4 RAM onboard offering a buttery smooth performance on everyday use and multitasking.

You can even expect to play games on this device but many of the battle royale games might not run smoothly.

Tecno has provided 64GB of built-in storage where all the applications data will be stored as well as the photos you take goes directly to internal storage.

You might not get the USB-C but you do get to use the latest Android 11 but with the skin of HIOS 7.6 which in our opinion is not bad for beginner or regular users.

Camera

The Tecno Spark 7T has a dual camera at the back that includes a 48MP main sensor and the second one is an AI sensor.

The main rear camera takes really good photos in the sunlight environment. The details and colours are impressive and the only thing that requires a bit of improvement is the sharpness.

The dynamic range is well balanced and photos in HDR look amazing. However, photos taken at night have a lot of digital noise.

The AI camera will help to take nice portrait shots and the detailing and skin tone in the images are good.

The 8MP selfie camera resting in the notch is guarded by the dual-LED flashlight so even at night, you can take your selfies.

Battery Life

The Tecno Spark 7T is powered by the mammoth 6000mAh lithium polymer battery that will last up to 2 days with regular use.

The bundled 10W charger takes almost 3 hours to recharge the power levels from 0 – 100%.

Verdict

The Tecno Spark 7T provides excellent performance for its asking price and battery life is also remarkable.

Except for the micro USB port, everything in the Tecno Spark 7T is good for the price of Rs.8,999.

Pros

Responsive fingerprint scanner

Realme UI based on Android 10 OS

Good battery backup

Cons

Outdated Micro USB port

Realme is a sub-brand of Oppo that was launched a couple of years ago to counter Xiaomi’s growing influence in the budget smartphone market in the Asian continent.

The Realme C21 is the entry-level smartphone from the recently launched C series lineup targeting budget-conscious consumers looking to purchase their first smartphone.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme C21 has a geometric art design on the back – it is the same design concept used in previous C15 and C12, but with little tweaks.

The polycarbonate back of this phone has a textured finish and rounded sides offer good grip to the hands.

Weighing at 190g and with 8.9mm thickness, this smartphone is comfortable for single-hand usage.

The rear panel has a box-shaped camera design that houses three lenses and an LED flashlight. Also, there is a fingerprint sensor for quick and secure screen unlock.

This is a dual SIM device with a dedicated SD card slot. It is quite unfortunate that this smartphone ships with an outdated micro USB port instead of a modern USB Type-C port.

Display

The Realme C21 sports a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD multi-touch waterdrop notch display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

This touch responsive panel has a maximum brightness level of 400 nits which is adequate for indoor use.

This panel is TÜV Rheinland certified for being safe enough for your eyes with prolonged continuous usage.

The colours come out bright and vivid and the dynamic range of this display seems impressive as well. Bezels on the sides are slim which helps in providing an immersive media consumption experience.

Processor and Performance

The Realme C21 comes equipped with the powerful MediaTek Helio G35 octa-core processor designed on 12-nanometer architecture.

The 4GB RAM onboard will give you a snappy performance on daily usage and multitasking.

The PowerVR GE8320 GPU inside handles graphic processing quite well and you can run games like COD Mobile at playable frames with low graphics settings on this smartphone.

In terms of storage, the Realme C21 comes with 64GB of built-in storage which gives plenty of space to store photos, videos, and music. Furthermore, you can increase the storage capacity with an SD card.

The Realme UI developed on top of Android 10 OS is what you get to experience on Realme C21. The user interface is quite clean with minimal bloatware. Realme is consistent with the security updates and is expected to seed the latest Android 11 update for this device soon.

Camera

The Realme C21 houses a triple camera system in the rear and a single camera upfront.

The 13MP main camera in the rear has an aperture size of f/2.2 clicks good quality images with a decent amount of details but it feels oversaturated at times.

The low light performance leaves a lot of room for improvement. The 2MP B/W lens clicks images with a good amount of details. The 2MP macro lens captures detailed closed range shots but lacks finer details.

The 5MP selfies camera shoots decent images under good lighting conditions. It maintains the natural skin tone well and covers a much wider frame.

When it comes to videos, both the rear and front cameras can record FHD videos at 30fps.

Battery Life

The Realme C21 is powered by a massive 5000mAh battery that is rated to last up to 8-10 hours on continuous use. With moderate to heavy usage, this smartphone will last you easily over a day.

The 10W charger given inside the box takes almost 3 hours to juice up the battery levels from 0-100 per cent.

You also get the option to charge other devices with this battery inside with the reverse charging feature on this device.

Verdict

The Realme C21 is the latest addition to Realme’s budget centric C-series and with the plethora of good features that it ships with, this smartphone is worth checking out.

Processor and Performance

The Lava Z6 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC. It is an octa-core CPU designed on 12-nanometer architecture and clocked at 2.3GHz.

The 6GB RAM is quite a surprise from an Indian manufacturer at this price point. This smartphone delivers lag and stutter-free performance even with light multitasking.

The 64GB built-in storage is enough if you are a casual user. If you want to save a lot of offline files, it is ideal to use an SD card slot.

The device comes pre-installed with Android 10 and it is a stock UI without any bloatware or resource-intensive UI skins.

12. Samsung Galaxy F02s

Samsung Galaxy F02s
Honourable Mention
  • Excellent battery life
  • Robust build quality
  • USB Type-C port
BUY FROM FLIPKART

Pros

Face recognition

One UI 2.5 based on Android 10

Entry-level Snapdragon processor

Cons

Slow charging

No fingerprint sensor

Samsung has been consistently outnumbered in the sales of budget segment smartphones by Xiaomi for a while now.

The new Samsung Galaxy F02s comes with entry-level specifications and is retailing on the e-commerce platform at Rs.9,999.

Design and Build Quality

The Galaxy F02s sports a polycarbonate back that easily attracts fingerprint marks and smudges so make sure to put it on a case cover as soon as you unbox it.

This device has a diamond-cut design that gives a nice aesthetic touch to the smartphone and the rectangular-shaped camera module is now pretty much common amongst Samsung smartphones.

This smartphone weighs 196 grams and one-handed usage is quite possible but not for long hours.

Samsung provided a Type-C port on this device which is accompanied by the audio jack and speaker grille at the bottom. Unfortunately, there is no fingerprint sensor but you can set up face recognition, however, it is not the fastest but works fine.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy F02s has a 6.5-inch HD+ TFT display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

The display is not Super AMOLED though it still produces good colours and the user experience will still be delightful.

The panel is bright enough for indoor use but under direct sunlight, even with maximum brightness, the visuals are hardly legible.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy F02s comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8GHz.

The 4GB RAM onboard provides decent performance on a day to day use and casual multitasking.

As for the storage, you will get 64GB of built-in storage to install applications from the play store and you can also use it to store music and videos offline.

Even though this is the fresh piece released in April 2021, Samsung has installed Android 10 on this smartphone but we guess the OTA update for Android 11 will be available soon.

The One UI 2.5 based on Android 10 gives a fine user experience and you won’t find any pre-rolled ads and notifications.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy F02s has a triple rear camera setup supported by an LED flashlight.

The 13MP main lens with the aperture of f/2.2 clicks decent images and photos taken at night looks distorted.

The dedicated 2MP depth sensor works effectively most of the time, but sometimes it fails to blur the background properly and the solution is easy for this, just click on the subject to focus and the camera will readjust everything so you can get a better portrait photo.

The front 5MP sensor takes good selfies in well-lit conditions, it maintains the skin tone to natural and does not oversaturate the image background colours.

Battery Life

Samsung is obsessed with battery capacity and this budget F-series smartphone is no exception.

The Samsung Galaxy F02s is assembled with a 5000mAh battery that provides backup for an entire day.

The bundled 7W charger takes 3 hours to juice up the battery from 0 -100%.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy F02s is a device for non-gamers, people who need more battery life with robust build quality should consider this smartphone while purchasing.

    • Hello Dev, as you said the Motorola One action is indeed a great smartphone. But when compared with the Motorola One Macro, the former comes with a 3500mAh battery, which is a quite average number these days. We picked the Motorola Macro over the One Action for its better allround performance and versatility as we honestly feel versatility is the key significant aspect customers will be looking for while purchasing a smartphone under Rs.10,000.

    • Wel,l i disagree with you but motorola offers great battery optimization 3500mah is just a number. It lasts a whole day for me. i watch youtube for about 4 hours a day and do some browsing. Other than this there is
Stock Android which is probably the best feature of the phone. It doesn’t come with bloatware pre-installed. I bought it in november and it’s still working like it was on the first day. I had a Redmi Note 7 Pro before this. It worked great for me in the first month but then it started to slow down. After 4 months it started to lag. One month later it was running hot even while watching youtube videos. Thanks to the horrifying MiUi. I think Motorola one action is a great phone for a normal user (4hr of youtube, 2 hours of calling and else) but for a gamer who plays pubg for like 6 hours a day (BTW it can run PUBG on HDR) i would not recommend it. This phone outperforms some products already in the list. So i think you should definitely add it!!!.

      • All phones from Motorola, comes more or less with the stock Android UI apart from the Android One tag. The 3500mAh battery inside the one action maybe good, but having an additional 500mAh always does help you do some more. That said, we’re not saying it isn’t a bad phone but a very capable one indeed.

    • Hi,

We agree with you partly. The new Realme 2 is indeed a good budget smartphone under Rs.10,000. But we were disappointed to know that the processor used is a Snapdragon 450. May be the company tried to bring down the costs a bit which incurred to them by adding the secondary camera sensor and a fingerprint sensor. The original Realme 1 had an Helio P60 SoC which performed on par with the midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 which is features in the phones like Asus Zenfone Max M1 Pro and the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
