Cons

Poco M2 Reloaded is one of the entry-level smartphones from POCO that delivers excellent value for money proposition in the sub. Rs.10,000 price range.

Design and Build Quality

The glass front, plastic back and the plastic frame in between complete the POCO M2 Reloaded design.

The front glass is protected by the Corning gorilla glass 3 to minimise the chances of accidental scratches.

POCO has also added a water repellent coating on top which will help dispose of water droplets and sweat easily from the chassis.

This device is available in two exciting colours for you to choose from.

The design is similar to the Redmi lineup of smartphones, which is very odd since POCO is mostly rebranding Redmi phones these days with little or no change whatsoever.

The USB type C port on this device supports USB OTG to plug in external media devices for direct file access.

The speaker sounds reasonably loud and clear but exhibits some distortion at maximum volume levels.

Display

The POCO M2 Reloaded features a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

This is an IPS LCD with excellent viewing angles and colour accuracy.

With a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9, thanks to the waterdrop notch upfront, this smartphone is somewhat usable with a single hand.

Having a pixel density of 397ppi, this is one of the best displays we have ever come across in a sub. Rs.10,000 smartphone.

Processor and Performance

The POCO M2 Reloaded is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.

This is a gaming-centric chipset with a powerful Mali G52 GPU that performs well with games such as PUBG: Mobile and Free Fire.

Not only that, the 4GB RAM on this device is one of a kind in this price segment that along with 64GB of eMMC internal storage makes the performance buttery smooth, even with multitasking.

If you are looking for a budget Performance powerhouse, there is none better than POCO M2 in this price segment as of now.

Camera

The POCO M2 Reloaded has a quad rear camera with a 13MP primary shooter followed by an 8MP ultrawide sensor, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth mode sensor.

These cameras take good quality photos and videos in daylight but fail to impress during low light/night time.

The maximum video recording resolution of the rear camera is FHD at 30fps.

The front camera is a standard 8MP shooter that takes decent selfies, once again in well-lit conditions.

Battery Life

The POCO M2 Reloaded is powered by a 5000mAh battery that will last easily for a day and a half with moderate to heavy usage.

This device supports 18w fast charging but ships with a standard 10w charger.

Verdict

The POCO M2 Reloaded is possibly the best smartphone that money can get you around Rs.10,000 in India.

A full-fledged FHD+ display, powerful processor and long-lasting battery are what you are guaranteed to get with this purchase.

Pros

Cons

No bundled fast charger

Redmi 9 Prime is the entry-level 9 series smartphone from Redmi which is placed just below the Redmi note 9.

Starting at Rs.9,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant, the Redmi 9 prime is one of the most value for money smartphones available in the sub. Rs.10,000 price segment.

Design and Build Quality

The Redmi 9 Prime has a glass front and a plastic back with a plastic frame in the middle.

This helps the smartphone to be weighed less than 200g even with a large 5000mAh processor.

Redmi calls the design of this smartphone the Aura 360 pattern which we are familiar with the likes of POCO X2.

The circular gradient pattern around the camera looks and feels very premium.

Redmi has included a water repellent coating over the chassis to offer some sort of protection from liquid spills and light rains.

The physical fingerprint scanner on this smartphone is placed below the vertical camera module, just like that on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Display

This is one area where Redmi 9 Prime beats its competition by a significant margin.

While smartphones such as Realme Narzo and Motorola G8 Power lite come with HD+ displays in this price segment, Redmi has decided to include a 6.53-inch full HD panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

This display is crazy good for the price in terms of colour accuracy and sharpness. It has a peak brightness of up to 400 nits for easy sunlight visibility as well.

Protected with Corning gorilla glass 3 on top, the Note 9 Prime has a pixel density close to 400ppi, which makes it quite comparable with the display of the higher-priced Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Processor and Performance

The Redmi 9 Prime is powered by MediaTek Helio G80 CPU, which is manufactured on a 12nm process.

This chipset is almost twice better than the Snapdragon 439 which we had on the Redmi 8 smartphone.

Available in one RAM and two storage variants, both the 4GB/64GB and the 4GB/128GB Redmi 9 Prime is very fast and responsive.

Running on the latest Android 10 OS with MIUI skin on top, the Redmi 9 prime can even play games without any issues.

You will be able to enjoy titles such as PUBG and FAUG with medium graphics settings and consistent frame rates.

Camera

The Redmi Note 9 has a quadruple rear camera setup which consists of a 13MP primary camera, 8MP ultrawide camera, 5MP macro camera and 2MP depth-sensing unit.

The front camera is an 8MP shooter with HDR and panorama support.

Both these camera units can capture videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30fps.

Battery Life

The Redmi 9 prime packs a massive 5020mAh Li-ion battery inside.

This battery is the same as that of the one found on its elder siblings – the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro series.

With moderate to heavy usage, the Redmi 9 Prime is rated to last over two days on a single charge.

This device supports 18W fast charging if you can invest in a separate charger.

  • Powerful G-series MediaTek processor
  • Good rear camera performance
  • Long-lasting battery
BUY FROM FLIPKART

Pros

Fast fingerprint scanner

Stock Android 10 OS

18W fast charger in the box

Cons

Heavy

Micromax was one of the popular Indian smartphone players back in the day until Chinese brands came in and dominated the market ever since.

The newly released Micromax In 1 is retailing on e-commerce at Rs.9,999. The device comes with a cutting-edge feature like a full HD display and a G-series Mediatek processor.

Design and Build Quality

The back panel of the Micromax In 1 is made out of polycarbonate materials and the X design on the back panel looks identical to that of the Micromax In note 1.

Thanks to its ergonomic design, holding the smartphone in the hands feels comfortable and one hand usage is quite possible.

This smartphone has a power and volume control button on the right frame at an easily reachable position.

The left frame has a dedicated “Google Assistant” button which can’t be reprogrammed to anything else as of now. Moving down to the bottom frame, there is a USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack.

To unlock the device quickly and securely, there is a responsive fingerprint scanner at the rear.

Display

The Micromax In 1 feature a 6.67-inch Full HD+ punch-hole display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.

This display has a maximum brightness of 440 nits which is sufficient enough for indoor as well as outdoor use.

The 20:9 taller aspect ratio display is quite sharp, thanks to the FHD resolution. Be it media consumption or casual browsing, this display looks good for the price. The colours look vivid and punchier so does the dynamic range.

Processor and Performance

The Micromax In 1 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor and comes coupled with a 4GB LPDDR4X RAM on board.

This G-series processor from MediaTek is powerful enough to deliver a lag-free smooth everyday performance.

You can’t play battle royale games at 60fps but it can be playable at 30fps and apart from that, 2D games will run flawlessly.

The device comes with 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage so you will have enough space to store media files and documents offline. There is also a dedicated SD card slot if you want to expand the storage capacity further.

As for the OS, you will get Android 10 software. The stock UI is slick and faster compared to some other bloated skins such as MIUI and Color OS.

Camera

This smartphone has a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 48MP main camera, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensor.

For its asking price, the main 48MP lens captures really good images and the colour reproduction of the picture stays close to natural.

The macro lens on this phone isn’t impressive but we guess other than professionals no one uses a 2MP macro lens so it’s nothing much of a deal-breaker.

You will also get to use Pro Mode to show off your skill in photography. The images turn out to be good in natural sunlight but photos taken at night have a lot of digital noise in them.

The front camera is an 8MP sensor that works just fine to deliver good looking selfie shots when clicked under good lighting conditions.

When it comes to the videos, both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording FHD videos at 30fps.

Battery Life

The Micromax In 1 is powered by a 5000mAh battery that is rated to last up to 12 hours on a single full charge with normal to heavy use.

Unlike Poco M2 Reloaded, Micromax does provide the 18W fast charger in the box which juices up the battery from 0-100% in less than 2 hours.

Verdict

The Micromax In 1 is a decent Made in India smartphone with stock Android UI and a decent set of internal hardware which promises lag and stutter-free everyday usage.

Cons

Hefty

The Narzo series is an affordable budget-oriented gaming smartphone lineup from Realme.

The Realme Narzo 30A is the entry-level smartphone from the Narzo family priced at Rs.9,499 in the Indian market.

Design and Build Quality

The Realme Narzo 30A has a completely different design compared to its predecessor the Narzo 20A, however, the back pane is still manufactured from high-quality polycarbonate material.

This smartphone has a diagonal stripe design at the back and the portion above the fingerprint sensor has a completely flat finish.

This smartphone has a thickness of 9.8mm and weighs significantly heavier at 207 grams. This device sure feels hefty in the hands and is not ideal for single-handed usage.

The responsive fingerprint scanner at the rear panel is easily reachable and it works as expected.

Talking about the physical overview of this smartphone, it comes with a USB Type-C and audio jack at the bottom along with the microphone.

Display

The Realme Narzo 30A sports a 6.5-inch HD+ water-drop notch display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

Thanks to its peak brightness level of 570 nits, the device panel is legible indoors as well as outdoors.

The visuals appear rich in colours and thanks to the 270ppi pixel density, this display looks adequately sharp and crisp from a distance.

Being an IPS display, the viewing angles are great and the relatively slim bezels around the display provide an impressive screen to body ratio of 81.7%, making it ideal for media consumption and gaming.

Processor and Performance

The Realme Narzo 30A comes equipped with the powerful MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core SoC designed on 12-nanometer architecture.

This 4GB RAM 64GB storage variant provides a smooth performance on everyday usage and multitasking.

The Realme Narzo 30A is a dual SIM device with a dedicated SD card slot for storage expansion.

Currently, this device runs on Realme UI which is designed on Android 10. However, Realme has already announced the Realme UI 2.0 update which will be based on Android 11 so you will soon experience the latest features and security updates.

Camera

The Realme Narzo 30A has a 13MP primary camera supported by the B/W lens. At first, you might think it’s a triple camera setup but in reality, it’s only just two cameras and a placeholder circle with the AI logo.

Speaking of the main camera performance, it works amazingly well in broad daylight. The photos have vivid colours, sharpness, and details.

This device features the Super Nightscape mode for night photography but it is not great as it should be.

If you love taking retro portraits then the b/w lens will be really useful for you. It helps you capture black and white pictures with a fair amount of detail and sharpness.

The 8MP selfie camera performs well under good lighting conditions but falters in dim-lit environments.

Both the front and the rear cameras on this budget Android smartphone supports Full HD video recording at 30fps.

Battery Life

The Realme Narzo 30A is powered by the mammoth 6000mAh lithium polymer battery that lasts for a day and a half, even with intense usage.

Thankfully, Realme has included the 18W charger inside the box which will recharge the battery within 2 to 2:15 hours.

Verdict

Realme has advertised this smartphone as a performance-oriented device and to be honest, it does deliver the same.

If you are looking for a budget smartphone under Rs.10,000 that can offer good multitasking performance, then Realme Narzo 30A is the one you should pick.

The Infinix Hot 10S packs in the most value for money internals when it comes to a smartphone priced under Rs.10,000.

Design and Build Quality

The Infinix Hot 10S has a geometrical design that looks amazing and is flashy. The in-hand feel of this phone is astonishing and it won’t slip from its hands that easily.

The construction is of plastic, but that doesn’t make the device cheap in hand.

Weighing at 210 grams, this device does feel heavy in hand and is not ideal for single-handed usage.

One major letdown of the Infinix Hot 10S in terms of the hardware design is the lack of a USB Type C port. This device still ships with the old micro USB port from the past era.

The rear section of the smartphone houses the camera module along with a fingerprint scanner for quick and secure one-touch login.

Display

The Infinix Hot 10S features a large 6.82-inch 90Hz HD+ display with a resolution of 1640 x 720 pixels.

Cons

Micro USB port

Tecno is a Chinese mobile manufacturer producing affordable feature-rich smartphones.

The Tecno Spark 7T is a pocket-friendly Android smartphone offering decent everyday performance and battery life at the price of Rs.8,999.

Design and Build Quality

The Tecno Spark 7T has a polycarbonate back and glass on the front with the plastic middle frame as expected.

The back panel has a line design with a gradient colour scheme that looks unique and refreshing.

This device is quite big and with the large battery inside it does feel heavy in the hand.

The power key and volume controls are placed on the right side, the top frame is empty and the bottom frame houses a micro USB and an audio jack.

This phone is released in June 2021 yet it still features that old-school micro USB port which is something we don’t like in particular.

Display

The Tecno Spark 7T has a 6.52-inch HD+ dewdrop notch display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

This display is adequately bright for indoor use and the visuals are even readable under the sunlight.

The colour reproduction of this panel is decent and the visual does not look pixelated, thanks to the decent pixel density of 269-PPI.

You can stream Youtube videos in HD quality and experience on content consumption is delightful as the panel has a massive 90% of screen to body ratio.

You can even expect to play games on this device but many of the battle royale games might not run smoothly.

Tecno has provided 64GB of built-in storage where all the applications data will be stored as well as the photos you take goes directly to internal storage.

You might not get the USB-C but you do get to use the latest Android 11 but with the skin of HIOS 7.6 which in our opinion is not bad for beginner or regular users.

Camera

The Tecno Spark 7T has a dual camera at the back that includes a 48MP main sensor and the second one is an AI sensor.

The main rear camera takes really good photos in the sunlight environment. The details and colours are impressive and the only thing that requires a bit of improvement is the sharpness.

The dynamic range is well balanced and photos in HDR look amazing. However, photos taken at night have a lot of digital noise.

The AI camera will help to take nice portrait shots and the detailing and skin tone in the images are good.

The 8MP selfie camera resting in the notch is guarded by the dual-LED flashlight so even at night, you can take your selfies.

Battery Life

The Tecno Spark 7T is powered by the mammoth 6000mAh lithium polymer battery that will last up to 2 days with regular use.

The bundled 10W charger takes almost 3 hours to recharge the power levels from 0 – 100%.

The new Lava Z4 has is equipped with the MediaTek CPU ensuring smooth performance on everyday use.

Design and Build Quality

The polycarbonate construction of the Lava Z4 feels robust and reliable.

The design pattern is much similar to the Micromax In 1b. On the rear side, there is the vertical camera strip with three lenses, an LED flash, a fingerprint sensor and two cutouts for the speaker.

The Lava Z4 has a textured finish on the rear plate which gives a nice feel to the hands and adds grip.

Surprisingly, the Lava Z4 has a Type-C port which is a very welcome addition to a budget smartphone.

Display

The Lava Z4 comes with a 6.51-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels.

This panel is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which prevents accidental scratches.

The visuals and text appear sharp and detailed. The colours appear vivid and punchy and the brightness levels are decent as well.

Processor and Performance

The Lava Z4 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC. It is an octa-core CPU designed on 12-nanometer architecture and clocked at 2.3GHz.

The 4GB RAM is quite a surprise from an Indian manufacturer at this price point. This smartphone delivers lag and stutter-free performance even with light multitasking.

The 64GB built-in storage is enough if you are a casual user. If you want to save a lot of offline files, it is ideal to use an SD card slot.

The device comes pre-installed with Android 10 and it is a stock UI without any bloatware or resource-intensive UI skins.

10. Motorola G10 Power

Motorola G10 Power

Best Entry-level Smartphone

  • Entry-level Qualcomm processor
  • Excellent battery life
  • Max vision HD+ display
BUY FROM FLIPKART

Pros

Unique design

Fingerprint scanner

Android 11 OS, stock UI

Cons

Bulky

Motorola is the subsidiary of the popular laptop manufacturer Lenovo. Motorola smartphones are loved by many young Indian users because of their stock UI.

The Motorola G10 Power is a budget smartphone packed with entry-level hardware and sports a quality build at the price of Rs.9,999.

Design and Build Quality

Motorola has been recently using this hatch line pattern in their smartphones and if you ask us, it does look quite nice as it makes this smartphone look stand out from others.

The Motorola G10 Power features a plastic body and has a textured finish at the back that gives this smartphone a refined look.

This device is quite thick and weighs 200 grams, that being said, one hand usability is not good for long hours.

At the back, there is a fingerprint scanner housing the branding of “M” and a camera module that includes 4 lenses with an LED flashlight.

On the right frame, you will notice a dedicated button for waking up Google Assistant followed by the volume controls and power button that has a textured finish.

Speaking of I/O, the G10 Power has an audio jack at the top and a USB-C port provided at the bottom along with a primary microphone.

Display

The Motorola G10 Power features a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

The panel has an 85% screen to body ratio and with the slim bezel around you will have an amazing experience with media consumption.

The colour reproduction of this panel is good and there is no major negative shifting when the display is viewed from different angles, thanks to the IPS technology.

The indoor brightness of this display is good and outdoors, it is quite average.

Processor and Performance

The Motorola G10 Power is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 octa-core processor designed on 11-nm architecture.

This processor from Qualcomm is power-efficient and is capable of handling tasks like calling, messaging, and social media quite effortlessly.

To make sure you can multitask smoothly, there is a 4GB RAM onboard. You can play light games without any lag or stutter.

The device has 64GB of built-in storage with decent read and write speed. You can keep your files and media here.

As for the OS, the device comes pre-installed with the Android 11 OS right out of the box.

Camera

The Motorola G10 Power has a quad-camera setup at the back. The 48MP main sensor is surrounded by the 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro lens.

Photos taken in broad daylight from the main camera have good outcomes with decent colour reproduction and balanced dynamic range.

The sharpness and details are also good. The device has a night mode which is not surprising at all because you will find the noise in the image.

Moving ahead, the ultra wide-angle camera performs well in most use cases however, a little improvement in sharpness is needed.

You can record videos in 1080p at 30 fps from the front and rear lenses. In terms of video recording, the front camera performs above average and the rear camera can not maintain the dynamic range and focus.

Using the depth sensor, you can click some amazing portrait shots as the blur effect is on point with no issues in edge detection.

Coming to the front, the 8MP selfie camera is just okay in our opinion with good lighting conditions you will be able to click clear selfies.

Battery Life

The Motorola G10 Power is powered by a 6000mAh battery which is a reason why this device feels heavy.

The battery will last up to an entire day and a half with heavy use and to juice up the power levels, you can use the 20W bundled charger.

Verdict

If you are looking for a smartphone with a smooth UI and better battery life with fast charging support, then Motorola G10 Power is the one you should buy.

Priced under Rs.10,000, this Motorola device offers a decent everyday performance without any bloatware or ads pre-installed.

11. Samsung Galaxy F02s

Samsung Galaxy F02s

Honourable Mention

  • Excellent battery life
  • Robust build quality
  • USB Type-C port
BUY FROM FLIPKART

Pros

Face recognition

One UI 2.5 based on Android 10

Entry-level Snapdragon processor

Cons

Slow charging

No fingerprint sensor

Samsung has been consistently outnumbered in the sales of budget segment smartphones by Xiaomi for a while now.

The new Samsung Galaxy F02s comes with entry-level specifications and is retailing on the e-commerce platform at Rs.9,999.

Design and Build Quality

The Galaxy F02s sports a polycarbonate back that easily attracts fingerprint marks and smudges so make sure to put it on a case cover as soon as you unbox it.

This device has a diamond-cut design that gives a nice aesthetic touch to the smartphone and the rectangular-shaped camera module is now pretty much common amongst Samsung smartphones.

This smartphone weighs 196 grams and one-handed usage is quite possible but not for long hours.

Samsung provided a Type-C port on this device which is accompanied by the audio jack and speaker grille at the bottom. Unfortunately, there is no fingerprint sensor but you can set up face recognition, however, it is not the fastest but works fine.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy F02s has a 6.5-inch HD+ TFT display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels.

The display is not Super AMOLED though it still produces good colours and the user experience will still be delightful.

The panel is bright enough for indoor use but under direct sunlight, even with maximum brightness, the visuals are hardly legible.

Processor and Performance

The Samsung Galaxy F02s comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor with a clock speed of 1.8GHz.

The 4GB RAM onboard provides decent performance on a day to day use and casual multitasking.

As for the storage, you will get 64GB of built-in storage to install applications from the play store and you can also use it to store music and videos offline.

Even though this is the fresh piece released in April 2021, Samsung has installed Android 10 on this smartphone but we guess the OTA update for Android 11 will be available soon.

The One UI 2.5 based on Android 10 gives a fine user experience and you won’t find any pre-rolled ads and notifications.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy F02s has a triple rear camera setup supported by an LED flashlight.

The 13MP main lens with the aperture of f/2.2 clicks decent images and photos taken at night looks distorted.

The dedicated 2MP depth sensor works effectively most of the time, but sometimes it fails to blur the background properly and the solution is easy for this, just click on the subject to focus and the camera will readjust everything so you can get a better portrait photo.

The front 5MP sensor takes good selfies in well-lit conditions, it maintains the skin tone to natural and does not oversaturate the image background colours.

Battery Life

Samsung is obsessed with battery capacity and this budget F-series smartphone is no exception.

The Samsung Galaxy F02s is assembled with a 5000mAh battery that provides backup for an entire day.

The bundled 7W charger takes 3 hours to juice up the battery from 0 -100%.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy F02s is a device for non-gamers, people who need more battery life with robust build quality should consider this smartphone while purchasing.

    • Hello Dev, as you said the Motorola One action is indeed a great smartphone. But when compared with the Motorola One Macro, the former comes with a 3500mAh battery, which is a quite average number these days. We picked the Motorola Macro over the One Action for its better allround performance and versatility as we honestly feel versatility is the key significant aspect customers will be looking for while purchasing a smartphone under Rs.10,000.

    • Wel,l i disagree with you but motorola offers great battery optimization 3500mah is just a number. It lasts a whole day for me. i watch youtube for about 4 hours a day and do some browsing. Other than this there is
Stock Android which is probably the best feature of the phone. It doesn’t come with bloatware pre-installed. I bought it in november and it’s still working like it was on the first day. I had a Redmi Note 7 Pro before this. It worked great for me in the first month but then it started to slow down. After 4 months it started to lag. One month later it was running hot even while watching youtube videos. Thanks to the horrifying MiUi. I think Motorola one action is a great phone for a normal user (4hr of youtube, 2 hours of calling and else) but for a gamer who plays pubg for like 6 hours a day (BTW it can run PUBG on HDR) i would not recommend it. This phone outperforms some products already in the list. So i think you should definitely add it!!!.

      • All phones from Motorola, comes more or less with the stock Android UI apart from the Android One tag. The 3500mAh battery inside the one action maybe good, but having an additional 500mAh always does help you do some more. That said, we’re not saying it isn’t a bad phone but a very capable one indeed.

    • Hi,

We agree with you partly. The new Realme 2 is indeed a good budget smartphone under Rs.10,000. But we were disappointed to know that the processor used is a Snapdragon 450. May be the company tried to bring down the costs a bit which incurred to them by adding the secondary camera sensor and a fingerprint sensor. The original Realme 1 had an Helio P60 SoC which performed on par with the midrange Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 which is features in the phones like Asus Zenfone Max M1 Pro and the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
