1. Asus ROG Strix G17

Asus ROG Strix G17

Overall Best Pick

  • Fifth-generation AMD Ryzen CPU
  • Upgradable hardware
  • 144Hz big 17-inch FHD display

RTX-series flagship GPU

RGB backlit keyboard

Attractive design

No webcam

Asus is a Taiwan based computer hardware company known for manufacturing high-quality laptops, computer accessories and smartphones.

The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an expensive gaming laptop offering a powerful multicore performance for a budget under Rs.1,00,000.

Design and Build Quality

The Asus ROG Strix G17 is an elder sibling of the Asus ROG Strix G15 gaming laptop.

The display lid of this laptop is constructed from metal whereas the base is made out of hard plastic which is of good quality.

The ROG laptop has its uniqueness in design that’s why they look and feel distinct from others in this list.

Under the deck, there is an RGB LED strip adding to the gaming flair of this machine. To put it in short, this laptop is sturdy and looks amazing.

Weighing at 2.4Kg, the ROG Strix G17 feels heavy but is acceptable considering its form factor and the hardware inside.

The dual speakers inside this laptop are quite loud but the audio quality is not that crisp like we used to see in MacBook laptops.

Speaking of thermals, this machine has dual fans inside with six heat pipes making sure that the internal temperature remains under control to provide optimal performance.

Connectivity Features:

The Asus ROG Strix G17 features the following I/O ports:

  • 3 x USB 3.1 ports
  • 1 x USB-C port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The Asus ROG Strix G17 comes equipped with the fifth generation AMD Ryzen 5 – 5600H hexa-core processor with a base clock speed of 3.3GHz and a turbo boost up to 4.2GHz.

About the GPU, the dedicated DDR6 Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 with 4GB of VRAM is one of the top of the line mobile GPUs out there that can handle anything you throw at it with ease, be it games or resource-intensive tasks such as video editing.

The 8GB DDR4 RAM onboard is sufficient for day to day tasks and multitasking. However, other demanding games in the market require more RAM to run but fret not, Asus has provided the RAM expansion provision and you can increase the RAM capacity up to 32GB.

Thanks to Asus for providing the 1TB built-in SSD – which hits an ideal balance between ample storage capacity and high-speed data transfer performance.

There is a 15-inch model available in the market if you want to buy it. The reason for recommending the 17-inch model is because gaming on a big screen is a different experience.

The Asus ROG Strix G17 sports a 17.3-inch 144Hz Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Except for the bottom chin, the bezels on the three sides are minimal. The catch here is that this machine doesn’t have an inbuilt webcam. You will have to purchase it additionally.

Back to the display quality, the colour reproduction is excellent and the dynamic range is good as well.

The brightness is quite good for indoor usage and you won’t find any difficulty in legibility even under brightly lit conditions.

The Asus ROG Strix G17 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home operating system.

The full-sized RGB backlit keyboard has sufficient spacing between the keys and the vertical height of each key is enough to provide the user with decent tactile feedback.

The trackpad is quite big – the touch gestures work precisely in the 95% work area but for gaming, an external gaming mouse is recommended.

Battery Life

The Asus ROG Strix G17 is powered by the 4-cell 56Wh lithium battery which in our opinion is not sufficient enough for a 17.3-inch display and you can expect the battery to last for up to 4-5 hours with moderate brightness.

The bundled power adapter will juice up the battery from 0 – 100% in 3 hours and while gaming or rendering a video we advise you to plug in the charger for optimal performance.

This gaming laptop from Asus is a fair deal for the asking price though we do consider the exception of the webcam as a subjective matter.

If you love gaming on a big screen then buying the Asus ROG Strix G17 for the price of Rs.96,938 is a good choice.

Asus TUF Dash F15

Runner-up Pick

  • Intel 11th Gen processor
  • RTX-series Nvidia GPU
  • Lightweight and portable

Blue backlit tenkeyless keyboard

Good thermal performance

Easily portable

Asus needs no introduction when it comes to gaming laptops. They are one of the most popular companies in this segment and we have already discussed a few of their gaming laptops and peripherals in our other articles.

In 2021, Asus introduced their new TUF Gaming lineup and with that, we have the launch of the new TUF Dash F15 gaming laptop. This is a premium mid-range gaming laptop by Asus that features an RTX 3050 Ti GPU at just under Rs.90,000.

Design and Build Quality

Aesthetically speaking, the Asus TUF Dash F15 is a stunner and hands down to Asus as they have nailed it in terms of design and build quality.

This robust looking laptop has a boxy form factor with a premium matte finishing with a minimalist design that gives this laptop an attractive look.

Asus has printed the artistic TUF written branding on the laptop lid and a small logo on the right top which makes a great blend with the overall colour scheme of the laptop.

This machine from Asus only weighs 2Kg which is quite surprising for a gaming laptop. You can carry it anywhere as a normal laptop but with increased performance.

There are dual fans inside this laptop constantly pulling out the heat from the rear, left and right-hand side vents to keep the internal temperature under check.

Connectivity options:

The Asus TUF Dash F15 features the following I/O ports:

  • 3 x USB 3.2 ports
  • 1 x USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The processor inside the Asus TUF Dash F15 is the eleventh-generation Intel i5. This is a quad-core processor with a turbo clock speed of 4.4GHz.

The 8GB DDR4 RAM onboard rated at 3200MHz will provide smooth performance on everyday use and does not break any sweat on multitasking.

As this is a gaming laptop, Asus has ensured the secondary slot for RAM in which you can add up to 16GB of RAM and make it a total of 24GB of RAM to get ultra-smooth multitasking performance.

Now coming to the GPU, this laptop has 4GB DDR6 Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, which is plenty powerful to handle all the modern games and applications.

Most of the popular AAA titles are playable at 60fps and you will barely see any major lag or stutter.

The 512GB SSD offers a decent amount of space to store programs and files offline. It also improves the performance of the laptop with its high speed read and write speeds.

The Asus TUF Dash F15 features a 15.6-inch 144Hz Full HD anti-glare IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Thanks to the IPS technology, the display produces vivid visuals and there is no colour shifting when viewing from the sides.

The high refresh rate not just provides a smooth experience but with this, you will have an upper edge over those who have a low refresh rate display when it comes to competitive gaming.

To keep your eyes safe from hours of gaming, Asus has also provided an anti-glare coating on the panel that will minimise light reflections.

The Asus TUF Dash F15 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home operating system.

Surprisingly, Asus has decided to go with the tenkeyless keyboard and instead of RGB backlit you will only get blue backlit underneath the keyboard.

The 1.7mm key travel distance offers nice clicky feedback on typing with highlighted AWSD keys.

The precision touchpad is quite small in size if we compare it with the ROG Strix G17 however, it supports multi-finger gestures and works flawlessly as advertised.

Battery Life

The Asus TUF Dash F15 is powered by a 4-cell 76Wh lithium battery that will last you up to 5 hours on a single charge.

The bundled power brick will help to juice up the battery levels from 0 – 100% pretty quick.

The Asus TUF Dash F15 is the newest product in the F-series and we strongly recommend this gaming laptop if you have a budget of around Rs.85,000-90,000.

3. Acer Nitro 5

Acer Nitro 5

Performance Power-House

  • Intel flagship CPU with Nvidia GPU
  • Upgradable hardware
  • 144Hz smooth FHD display

Four-zone RGB backlit full-sized keyboard

Low latency response time from display

Acer is a Taiwan based hardware company that manufactures some of the finest ultrabook and gaming laptops in the industry.

The Acer Nitro 5 is the popular gaming laptop amongst gamers and this year the company has brought the popular Nitro 5 machine with upgraded hardware at the price of 84,999.

Design and Build Quality

The Nitro 5 from the Acer looks the same as its previous tenth-generation models and in our opinion and honestly the design is long overdue for a refresh. However, if your concern is performance over design then it’s not a deal-breaking factor for you.

Acer has reduced the use of red accent colours in this laptop and the lid painted with black colour now looks more aggressive than ever.

Weighing at 2.2Kg, this laptop sure is heavy to carry on the shoulders but it fits perfectly inside a regular backpack.

The lid of this laptop opens and closes smoothly, thanks to the robust hinge mechanism.

Thermals are important for gaming machines and keeping that in mind, Acer has provided dual fans with 4-way exhaust to ensure that laptop internal temperature remains under control even while playing AAA title games.

With the Wi-Fi 6 card inside, you will be able to access a high-speed wireless internet connection and play games without any delay.

Connectivity Options:

The Acer Nitro 5 comes with the following I/O ports:

  • 3 x USB 3.2 ports
  • 1 x USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • RJ-45 LAN port
  • 3.5mm combo audio jack

Processor and Performance

The showrunner of the Acer Nitro 5 is the latest Intel i7 11th generation quad-core processor with a turbo clock speed of 4.8GHz.

Along with the CPU, there is a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 dedicated graphics card which is capable of handling heavy editing software and Esport title games.

In most of the games, you can expect to see constant 60fps at medium to high graphics settings.

As for the RAM, the Acer Nitro 5 comes with 8GB RAM onboard which is sufficient for day to day and multitasking tasks.

On a positive note, Acer has provided the RAM expansion provision because there are demanding games in the market that require more RAM to run smoothly at maximum graphics settings.

The 1TB SSD will give you peace of mind about storage capacity. You can store files offline but apart from that, SSD will load your games blazing-fast and system boot-up time will be minimal.

The Acer Nitro 5 features a 15.6-inch 144Hz Full HD LED-backlit ComfyView IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The thin bezels on the sides give an immersive wide viewing experience concerning content consumption.

What we like about the display is that it has a higher refresh rate and the response time is only 3ms which benefits gaming and everything else you do on the display will appear buttery smooth.

The colour reproduction is decent and there is no colour shifting when looking at the panel from sides, thanks to the IPS technology.

To make sure you can see every visual of the display clearly, Acer has provided a coating on the display which reduces the light protection and this term is branded as ComfyView.

The Acer Nitro 5 comes pre-installed with the Windows 10 Home operating system.

The 4-Zone RGB keyboard is the most likeable thing on the deck. The keys are also well-spaced and have enough key travel so when you type it gives clicky feedback.

The trackpad with a red border looks quite nice and the response on touch gestures is precise.

The 720p webcam located at the provides a decent video quality. It is somewhat good for video conferencing but if you plan to do streaming with it then we strongly recommend buying an external webcam.

Battery Life

The Acer Nitro 5 is powered by the 4-cell 57.5Wh lithium battery that is rated to last up to 5 hours on a full charge.

If you are playing high-end games at a 144Hz refresh rate then the battery will drain even faster than expected.

Therefore, for long hours of gaming make sure to plugin the 135W power brick.

If you love Intel-powered gaming laptops then buying the Acer Nitro 5 will not be the wrong choice.

The Nitro 5 from the Acer is a performance power-packed laptop equipped with strong hardware all for a budget under Rs.90,000.

4. MSI GP65 Leopard

MSI GP65 Leopard

Value for Money Laptop

  • Powerful 10th Gen i7 Intel CPU
  • SteelSeries RGB keyboard
  • Hybrid SSD+HDD storage

Aluminium lid

Efficient cooling

Supports ray tracing

The lid has a bit of flex

The GP65 Leopard is one of the gaming laptops that has been manufactured by the popular Taiwanese company MSI.

We have already reviewed many of their gaming laptops in our previous articles. The company is known for its well-thought-out design and premium-feeling materials.

The GP65 Leopard gaming laptop is currently available in the Indian market for around Rs.96,999.

Build and Design

The MSI GP65 Leopard features a very classic MSI design that is found on most of their gaming laptops.

This laptop features an aluminium lid with some raised lines with the MSI logo in the center. It is pretty much similar to the design of most of the laptops manufactured by MSI. The lid however has a bit of flex to it.

The dragon logo in the center lights up when the computer is turned on, however, there is no customization for the lighting.

Make sure that you do not touch the lid of the laptop with greasy hands since it’s quite the fingerprint magnet and will require you to wipe them off most of the time.

In contrast to the lid, the lower body of this gaming laptop is made from plastic material but it feels quite solid and of good quality.

As you would expect from an MSI laptop the GP65 is equipped with a SteelSeries keyboard which has per-key RGB lighting.

In the rear of the laptop, you have the two exhaust vents along with the Leopard text between the vents. In the front, we have LED indicator lights for the status of the laptop.

This gaming laptop makes use of the Cooler Booster 5 cooling technology for heat dissipation.

Connectivity Options

  • 1 x Type C USB 3.2 port
  • 3 x Type-A USB 3.2 ports
  • HDMI
  • SD Card reader
  • Audio jack
  • RJ45 port

Processor and Performance

The MSI GP65 Leopard runs on yesteryear’s 10th generation Intel Core i7 10750H processor. This processor is powerful enough to handle games and multitasking with ease.

The GPU on this laptop is the Nvidia RTX 2060 with 6GB of dedicated DDR6 VRAM. This powerful graphics card will let you enjoy games at high graphics without a hitch.

Being an RTX series GPU, it has real-time ray tracing features that delivers a lifelike natural reflection and accurate particle physics details while playing your games.

The laptop comes packed with 16GB of DDR4 RAM that should be adequate for gaming and multitasking for the most part.

However, if you feel the need for more RAM, there is the provision to expand the memory up to 32GB.

Furthermore, for storage, the MSI GP65 Leopard features a hybrid 1TB HDD and 256GB SSD storage. The presence of an SSD in the laptop should decrease the loading time in games marginally.

The laptop has a 15.6-inch FHD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Gaming on this laptop is bound to be a visual treat given the high refresh rate.

You can also gain an edge over other players during competitive gaming thanks to the super-smooth refresh rate.

The IPS technology ensures wider viewing angles without any colour shift.

The laptop has a peak brightness of 250 nits – it is not the brightest laptop on the list but it should be perfectly fine for indoor usage.

The bezels on the laptop are minimal, making the display look much bigger than its actual size.

Battery Life

The battery life on the MSI GP65 Leopard is pretty average. This gaming laptop has a battery life of about 5 hours which is pretty standard for most gaming laptops.

With this laptop, you also get a bulky AC adapter that should juice it up in no time. It is recommended that you plug in the laptop to the charger when gaming.

The MSI GP65 Leopard is one of the finest mid-range laptops that you can buy in the Indian market. Despite the yesteryear processor, this is an excellent gaming laptop for its asking considering it’s fully loaded and should be reliable for the next few years.

5. ASUS TUF Gaming A17

Asus TUF Gaming A17

Large Display Gaming Laptop

  • Powerful Ryzen CPU with overclocked GPU
  • Up to 5 hours of battery life
  • Robust build quality

Ease of hardware upgradability

Rich connectivity options

Stealthy modern design

Bulky and heavy

The TUF series gaming laptops are Asus’s mid-range lineup which caters to budget-conscious buyers looking to own a performance laptop that’s within the reach of their budget.

However, in recent times, the TUF series has been slowly entering the premium gaming segment with better internal hardware configurations and the A17 is one such machine priced around Rs.91,000 in the Indian market.

Build and Design

The Asus TUF A17 looks similar to the A15 and F15 in terms of build and design.

The TUF A17 laptop comes in either the fortress grey colour or the bonfire black colour. The grey colour comes with a metal lid while the rest of the body is plastic and the black has a full plastic build.

The fortress grey colour of the laptop is a bit of a hassle to clean up since it is a fingerprint magnet.

The TUF A17 is a 17-inch laptop so it is quite huge and weighs around 2.6kg.

The keyboard on the laptop is a one-zone RGB backlit chiclet keyboard. The keys have a travel distance of 1.8mm and a life span of 20 million keystrokes.

The WASD keys are highlighted for easy identification.

The trackpad on the laptop uses Windows precision drivers and supports multi-finger gesture actions. Due to the larger size of the laptop, there is an ample amount of space to rest your arms on the deck of the laptop.

This laptop has a self-cleaning cooling system with dual fans and exhaust vents in the rear for hot air to pass through. The air intake vents in the bottom and the exhaust vents in the rear have a beautiful honeycomb design similar to that of the A15 and F15 laptops from Asus.

The TUF A17 has been put through MIL-STD-810H tests and has a military-grade certification to ensure extreme durability and reliability.

Connectivity Options:

The Asus TUF Gaming A17 has the following I/O ports:

  • 1 x USB 3.2 Type C port
  • 1 x USB 2.0 port
  • 2 x USB 3.2 ports
  • Headphone jack
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • 1 x RJ45 LAN port

Processor and Performance

The performance of the TUF A17 is top-notch thanks to the 4th Gen Ryzen 7 4800H octa-core processor which has a base clock speed of 2.9GHz with a turbo boost up to 4.2GHz.

For graphics, we have the powerful Nvidia GTX 1660Ti GPU with 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM. This GPU should be able to run even the most demanding gaming titles at the highest graphics settings with consistent frame rates.

Games like DOOM, CS: GO and Valorant should easily give you more than 100fpsthanks to the all-powerful graphics card.

To ensure that the TUF A17 runs smoothly and multitasks without a problem, Asus has given 16GB of DDR4 onboard RAM on this laptop. There is the provision to increase this up to a maximum of 32GB if required.

The Asus TUF A17 has a hybrid storage mechanism. The larger 1TB HDD stores all your miscellaneous offline data files and the smaller high-speed 256GB SSD is where the OS is installed.

This results in faster bootup speeds and if you install games on the SSD you can expect really short loading times.

This laptop also has an empty M.2 slot so you can add another high-speed SSD for future-proofing if you want.

The speakers on the laptop are pretty decent. Even though they are placed in the bottom and are down-firing, the audio quality does get reduced. However, It is recommended that you use headphones while gaming.

The Asus TUF A17 laptop features a much bigger display compared to its predecessors.

This machine features a 17.3-inch FHD display which is much bigger than the 15.6-inch one we’d seen with the TUF A15.

This is a 120Hz refresh rate display aiding in smooth and jitter-free visuals, both when gaming and while watching media.

With a peak display brightness of 250 nits, this panel is very much visible indoors even under brightly decorated artificial lighting conditions.

The colour reproduction and the contrast levels are satisfactory as well. The bezels around the display are narrow and make the screen look much wider than in actual size.

The display also uses Asus’s adaptive sync technology so you don’t get any stutters or screen tearing when you play your games.

Battery Life

The Asus TUF A17 is powered by a 3-cell 48Whr Li-Po battery which will last you for up to 5 hours of screen on time with a single full charge.

The 180W AC adapter supports fast charging and juices up this battery within 2 hours.

The Asus TUF Gaming A17 is one of the few laptops that offer you a powerful graphics card and processor at such an aggressive price point.

If you don’t mind the bulky form factor and the large size footprint, this gaming laptop is worth checking out.

MSI GF65 Thin

Lightweight Gaming Laptop

  • RTX grade GPU
  • 144Hz FHD display
  • Comfortable backlit keyboard

Robust Build Quality

Slim and lightweight design

Excellent thermal performance

Subpar battery life

Build and Design

The MSI GF65 Thin gaming laptop features the same brushed aluminium construction found on its elder sibling, the MSI GF75.

Both the display lid and the keyboard C deck is made from aluminium and offers good build quality and durability.

One main drawback of this laptop construction is that it easily picks up smudges and fingerprints on the backplate. If you are a neat freak, you will end up cleaning the laptop often.

Speaking of the keyboard, the keys are well spaced and have decent spacing in between.

These keys offer a good tactile feedback when pressed, resulting in a comfortable typing experience.

Additionally, this keyboard comes with a single colour red LED backlighting for effortless low light usage.

The MSI GF65 Thin comes with the critically acclaimed Cooler booster 5 cooling system with dual fans and multiple heat pipes for efficient heat dissipation.

Connectivity options

Following are the connectivity options available on the MSI GF65:

  • 2 x USB 3.2 Type C ports
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Type-A ports
  • 1 x HDMI ports
  • 1 x RJ45 LAN port
  • Audio jack

Powering the GF65 Thin gaming laptop is the yesteryear 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor which has a base clock speed of 2.7GHz with a turbo boost up to 5GHz.

To compensate for the older processor the laptop comes equipped with the powerful RTX 2060 GPU with 6GB of DDR6 VRAM which has real-time ray tracing capabilities.

This powerful CPU and GPU combination will run all the modern gaming titles and productivity tasks like a champ.

This laptop comes standard with a fast 512GB SSD which can be further upgraded with the provided empty M.2 slot on the motherboard.

SSD storage significantly improves boot and app loading times, data transfer speeds and overall computing experience.

This device features a 16GB DDR4 RAM onboard which is plenty capable of dealing with modern games, apps and some serious multitasking.

Even though the dual speakers on this laptop support Hi-Res audio output, we recommend that you use gaming headphones for the best experience.

The MSI GF65 Thin features a 15.6-inch Full HD display that has a 144Hz refresh rate.

This FHD display has good colour reproduction and exhibits sharper and clean details.

A high refresh rate display helps in smooth frame transitions and lets you have the most out of your games. Competitive games like CS GO will take full advantage of the 144Hz refresh rate panel.

This is an IPS display with good colours and excellent viewing angles. While the top and bottom chin are thick, the side bezels are narrow.

The HD webcam is placed on the top chin of the display. This webcam is of good quality when used in well-lit environments.

Battery life

The MSI GF65 Thin is powered by a 51 Whr Lithium battery which is rated to last up to 4 hours on a single charge.

The bundled 180W AC charging adapter takes around 2-2.30 hours to completely juice up the battery.

The MSI GF65 is one of the only few laptops in the sub. Rs.90,000 price segment with an RTX grade GPU from Nvidia.

Even though the battery life isn’t that impressive, this gaming laptop delivers exceptional performance unmatched by most of its competitors.

Battery Life

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is a mid-range gaming laptop that is powered by the Ryzen 5 processor.

Build and Design

In terms of the design, the ROG Zephyrus G14 is a stunner. Asus has opted for a premium build for this laptop with a combination of magnesium and aluminium for its chassis, keyboard, and display lid.

The use of such premium materials also helps keep the weight of the laptop in check.

Asus has gone with a full-sized keyboard for their gaming laptop. This can either be a boon or a bane. If you are someone who often uses the number pad then this can be good for you but this on the other hand offsets the layout of the keyboard.

This keyboard features a single zone LED backlighting that gives the keyboard a professional look and helps you work under dim lighting conditions effortlessly. Thanks to Asus’s overstroke technology the keys on this keyboard have a keystroke life of up to 20 million.

The C deck which houses the keyboard has an anti-fingerprint coating that makes sure that no smudges or fingerprint marks are left on the keyboard after intense use.

A unique feature of this laptop is its AniMe Matrix LED lighting present on the backplate of this laptop. This backplate features 1,215 mini-LEDs that can be customized to your choice or you can load GIFs on it or use the ones that have already been pre-installed.

The thermal management of the ROG Zephyrus G14 is commendable. The laptop has ample vents on its sides and bottom for air intake and exhaust. Furthermore, the ErgoLift hinge mechanism of the laptop raises the device by 15mm which enhances the cooling.

Connectivity Options

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 features the following I/O ports

  • 2 x USB 3.2 Type-C ports
  • 2 x USB 3.2 Type-A ports
  • Display port
  • 1 x HDMI port
  • Headphone jack

There is no RJ45 port on this laptop which is disappointing for those who want wired internet connectivity.

Processor and Performance

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 is powered by the 4th Gen Ryzen 5 4600HS processor. With a base clock speed of 3GHz and a turbo boost up to 4GHz, the Zephyrus G14 can easily handle even the most demanding games without a problem.

Speaking of graphics, we get the 4GB GDDR6 Nvidia GTX 1650Ti which is a great mid-range GPU that should be capable of running most games at medium-high graphics settings.

Talking about RAM, the G14 features 8GB RAM onboard that should be more than enough for gaming and other uses but if you are hungry for more, then you can upgrade the RAM up to 24GB using the additional SO-DIMM Slot.

The storage option on the G14 includes lighting fast 512GB NVMe SSD. This won’t be sufficient for most, so you can always plug in an external HDD or SSD.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 has a rather smaller display size compared to most other gaming laptops. This here is a 14-inch Full HD display that has a sharp 1920×1080 pixel resolution.

This display comes with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate that aids in a jitter-free gaming experience as well as buttery smooth media playback.

This display is an IPS panel, has got good colour reproduction and impressive contrast levels to make the visuals appealing.

The anti-glare coating on the display helps reduce strain on your eyes when gaming for long hours continuously.

The bezels around the display are extremely minimal and Asus fondly calls them as NanoEdge Bezels. The minimal bezels ensure more screen real estate.

Battery Life

On normal usage, this gaming laptop should last up to five hours on a single charge, thanks to the 76WHr battery inside.

To juice up the battery, we have an AC adapter that comes bundled with the laptop. The Type C port on the laptop also supports power delivery.

Buying Guide for Gaming Laptop Under Rs. 1,00,000

Are you confused about choosing a gaming laptop from hundreds of choices out there? Fret not, as we are here to help you.

With brands releasing laptops with almost similar specs under different model names, it is quite hard for an average consumer to pick a gaming laptop that suits his requirements.

To help you make a learned purchase decision, we have written this short yet concise buying guide for the best gaming laptops under Rs.1,00,000 covering the few important points you should be aware of.

Build Quality

A budget of Rs.1,00,000 offers you enough flexibility to choose from a plethora of build materials when it comes to gaming laptops.

There are fully plastic made chassis laptops, metallic chassis laptops and a few laptops with metal and plastic mix chassis.

Just because a laptop has a plastic build does not make it superior to their metallic counterparts.

Since gaming laptops are often intended to use indoors, picking a plastic laptop or a metallic one doesn’t make much difference.

The CPU as you all might know is the brain of the computer. Having a modern and powerful processor on board is of utmost importance regarding the performance of the laptop.

In the budget of Rs.1,00,000, we suggest you go for tenth generation Intel i7 processors or fourth-gen AMD Ryzen 7 processors for the best performance.

Even ninth gen Intel i7 processors are acceptable as they are still powerful enough to deliver exceptional gaming performance with modern titles.

The clock speed is one thing that you should check before finalizing a processor. For an ideal gaming-centric laptop, a processor with a base clock speed between 3.5GHz-4GHz is desirable.

Graphics Card

Graphics cards are equivalent to wheels on a car. GPUs drive the gaming performance by assisting the processor in graphics handling.

For a budget under Rs.1,00,000, you will have plenty of options to choose from. We will list a few of the capable GPUs available in laptops at this price segment down below:

  • Nvidia RTX 2060
  • AMD RX 5600M
  • Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti
  • Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti Max Q
  • Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti

Among the above-mentioned list, the Nvidia RTX and the AMD RX 5600M are the two of the most powerful cards.

That said, all the cards listed above offer cutting edge gaming and performance computing experience without any sort of lags or stutters.

Most of the gaming laptops at the Rs.1,00,000 price range come with 16GB RAM onboard.

While there are laptops which have 8GB RAM out of the box, it is okay to purchase them as long as the laptop supports RAM upgradability.

If the laptop doesn’t support hardware upgradability and your laptop comes with 8GB RAM, you will be stuck with that forever.

RAM clock speed is one of the factors that you should consider when finalising on RAM. A minimum of 2333MHz should suffice but if you do find a higher frequency it’s best to go for them.

For Rs.1,00,000, you can find laptops with onboard RAM with frequency up to 3200MHz.

There are two storage options you can choose for gaming laptops priced under Rs.10,00,00.

1) Hybrid storage with HDD and SSD

2) Only SSD

It is not recommended to go for a gaming laptop which comes only with an HDD at this price point.

Almost all laptops in this price segment come with 512GB SSD as standard. It is always desirable to have the provision of future hardware expansion, in case you want to pop in an HDD or an SSD for doubling up the storage capacity.

Hybrid SSD+HDD system is also very much acceptable for those with a large amount of miscellaneous offline files to store with,

If you are ever to purchase a gaming laptop with an HDD storage, check for its spindle speed.

HDD with 7200rpm or more will deliver good performance whereas those with 5400rpm will be slow and affect the overall performance of the system negatively.

Connectivity Options

The minimum connectivity requirements for a gaming laptop include a USB port, HDMI port, RJ45 port, and a headphone jack.

It is highly recommended to go for a laptop that has a Type C USB port because it is the future standard when it comes to USB connectivity.

The RJ45 ethernet port on the laptop lets you use a wired internet connection to play games over LAN with your friends.

Make sure that the gaming laptop supports dual-band Wi-Fi. The 5GHz Wi-Fi band is very much essential for smooth gaming performance over wireless internet with minimal packet loss.

Having a display port is beneficial as it will let you mirror the laptop screen to a larger display.

The keyboards that are found on gaming laptops are not always of the best quality.

While you can play games on the keyboard, it is always recommended to purchase a separate gaming keyboard for the competitive edge among your playmates.

You are very much guaranteed to find only laptops with Full HD panels in this price range.

The refresh rate is the new buzzword in the gaming industry these days and that’s one thing you should be aware of.

The refresh rate is the number of times per second the display device shows a new image. The higher the refresh rate the smoother the visuals on the laptop.

If you are interested in competitive gaming, then it is best to go for a display with a high refresh rate otherwise a standard 60Hz refresh rate should be fine.

There are displays with refresh rates up to 144Hz available for a budget under Rs.1,00,000.

Another important thing is to always go for an IPS panel since they provide better colour accuracy and wider viewing angles.

Battery Life

Battery life isn’t a strong forte for gaming laptops, no matter the price range. The powerful hardware inside consumes a lot of power and empties the battery fairly quickly.

We always recommend plugging in the laptop to a power source for an optimal gaming experience.

Since laptops are portable computing devices, manufacturers have their limitations in including high-quality speakers inside the compact chassis.

If you are a serious game, we’d always recommend you to buy a gaming headphone to get the surround sound experience in your games.

      • I want a thin & light performance laptop for gaming, certain heavy tasks & programming. My budget is under 85k but can manage upto 1lac if I can get a good deal. So, Which would be best suitable without compromising on performance for the thin & light form factor. As I would have to carry it along to college & I don’t want a laptop that has some sort of heavy/bulky looks, should have just premium, sleek design, that would be great, just like macbooks. Hope you can help!
