However, these batteries can last for 3-6 months depending on your usage.

You can either use a rechargeable battery if you game too much for continuous hours to save a significant amount of money on disposable AA batteries.

6. Hyperkin X91 Wired Gaming Controller

hyperkin-x91-wired-gaming-controller
Officially Licensed Controller
  • Robust build quality
  • Compatible with PC and Xbox one
  • Precision analog trigger buttons

Hyperkin is a company that specializes in the development of gaming hardware and accessories.

It has been in the gaming market for years and the Hyperkin X91 Controller is one of its best selling wired gaming controllers priced under Rs.3,000.

Build and Design

The Hyperkin X91 Wired gaming controller is the 90s styled officially licensed Xbox One gaming controller which is compatible with PC.

In the first look, the X91 controller looks like the traditional SNES gamepad with its retro boxy design which is nostalgic

The controller looks good, it has the same layout as the Xbox One controller but is smaller in size, it has the same haptics and accuracy as the original controller.

The device is good for casual gaming but is not suitable for long sessions as the hands will start to ache due to its shape and form factor.

The controller is made of plastic and has a USB cable to connect to the PC, the length of the cable is fairly long and hence it’s good for sitting away from the PC

The bottom side of the controller has a 3.5mm headphone jack which is good if you sit away from the PC as your headphones can be connected to the controller.

Performance

The Hyperkin X91 Wired gaming controller works properly with all modern games without any problem.

The rumble motors work properly, and the buttons, analog, and triggers also have accurate tactile feedback.

The issue with the controller is the design and form factor because of which it is a bit troublesome to hold the controller and play games for a long session as the hands start to hurt.

For casual gaming, the controller works fine. But we won’t recommend the controller for competitive gaming.

Verdict

Hyperkin X91 Wired Gaming controller is one of the very few official licensed Xbox One controllers at this price range.

If you’re looking for a licensed product you can go for this, or if you are a fan of the retro design then this is a fit for you.

7. Red Gear Elite Wireless Gamepad

red-gear-elite-wireless-gamepad
Best Budget Game Controller
  • Up to 10 hours of battery life
  • Compatible with PC, TV and smartphones
  • Lightweight form factor

The Redgear Elite Wireless gamepad is yet another offering from the Indian based company Redgear, it may not be as good as their pro series controllers but that doesn’t mean this is a bad controller at all.

Build and Design

The Redgear Elite Wireless gamepad is not one of the most well-built controllers out there.

This budget gaming controller is made out of plastic materials and has average build quality. It has the same button layout as the Redgear Pro Series Wireless.

There is a light ring which surrounds the home button that lights up when the Home button is turned on or the device is charging. The controller does not have backlit keys like the Pro controller.

The Elite gamepad is connected to the PC with the help of a USB receiver that comes with it.

The USB receiver provides wireless connectivity up to 10 meters. The controller also comes with a mini USB cable which can be used to charge the controller.

Performance

This controller can run almost all modern games without any issues. It supports both Xinput and Dinput, holding the home button for 5 seconds will switch between Xinput and Dinput.

Even though this is a wireless gaming controller, the input delay is minimal.

The controller has vibration feedback and if your device is running on the fairly old Windows XP you will have to install the driver CD that comes with it, but installation is not required on newer versions of Windows OS.

For long gaming sessions, the controller does become a bit uncomfortable to hold as there are no rubberized grips and you can’t get a proper grip on the controller after your palms start sweating due to the plastic body.

The Elite is a good controller for beginners and casual gamers but it’s not recommended for long sessions and competitive gaming.

Battery Life

The Red gear Elite wireless gaming controller lasts for up to 10 hours on a single charge.
This budget game controller takes up to two hours to charge completely from zero to a hundred per cent.

Verdict

The Redgear Elite Wireless Gamepad does fall short in certain areas, but it’s acceptable considering the price. This budget gamepad is compatible with most of the games without any problem and has wireless connectivity.

If you are not an avid gamer and don’t want to spend much on a controller then this is the right choice for you.

Best Smartphone Gamepad
  • Up to 40 hours of battery life
  • Clicky and responsive buttons
  • Bluetooth connectivity

Black Shark is a company that manufactures gaming hardware, accessories, and software-based in China.

They are well known for their Black Shark series of flagship gaming phones. The Black Shark H66L is a smartphone gamepad priced just under Rs.3,000.

Build and Design

The controller is one part of a set of 4. The Left gamepad, the right gamepad and the brackets which are used to connect it to the mobile phone all of which have to be purchased separately.

In India, we only have the left gamepad and bracket available which costs Rs.499. The left gamepad has the directional buttons, analog stick and a bumper button. There is also a switch on the controller which lets you turn the gamepad on or off.

You should purchase the bracket along with the gamepad, without which the gamepad won’t attach with the smartphone.

So the gamepad is well built, it looks and feels premium. It’s small in size, lightweight and has an ergonomic design which makes it comfortable to hold.

The gamepad is connected with the smartphone with the help of Bluetooth. The buttons on the device are clicky and the analog stick is smooth while moving around.

Performance

The Black Shark H66L is a game-changer when it comes to mobile gaming, you’ll be able to play PUBG and Call of Duty like a pro.

The responsiveness and feedback of the controller are very much on point for the price. You won’t be able to see any input lag, also clicking the buttons on the controller gives you a more satisfying feeling compared to tapping on the phone screen while playing games.

Setting up the gamepad is easy and it will take less than 5 minutes to map the buttons.
The gamepad does perform better with all the parts together but you can still go for it.

Miscellaneous

The Black Shark H66L is not compatible with all android devices, so do make sure to check whether the gamepad does work with your smartphone.

Some of the compatible devices are the BlackShark series of phones, Redmi Note 8 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro.

Battery Life

So the Black Shark H66L Gamepad comes with a 340mAh battery. Black Shark claims that the gamepad provides up to 40 hours of gameplay on a single charge, so you won’t have the hassle of charging your gamepad all the time.

The gamepad has a type C charging port which is used to juice up its battery.

Verdict

The Black Shark H66L is a pretty good game controller for mobile gaming. It gives you an edge over the other mobile players but does come at quite a hefty price tag of Rs.2,999.

It works best with all the 4 components of the gamepad together for the most fulfilling experience but unfortunately, those aren’t available in India.

9. Logitech F310

logitech-f310
Honourable Mention
  • Plug n Play device
  • The affordable wired gaming controller
  • 10 programmable buttons

The Logitech F310 looks similar to its Logitech G F710 controller. The first difference you will notice between them is that the F310 has a wired connection.

Build and Design

The Logitech F310 looks like a dated controller as this controller was launched in the market a long time back and Logitech hasn’t made many design changes to it.

The controller is built pretty well as expected from an established company such as Logitech and the controller is very comfortable to hold.

The button layout is the same as the Logitech G F710, the only difference is that unlike the G F710 controller the F310 doesn’t come with vibration feedback.
Behind the controller, we have a switch that toggles the input between Xinput and Direct input.

The F310 doesn’t require any drivers and is plug and play so you can easily connect it to your PC and game on it with the USB wire connected to it. There is the option to download the Logitech Gaming Software but it is not mandatory.

Performance

Almost all the games are supported by The Logitech F310 and you won’t be facing any issue with that.

The lack of vibration motors is disheartening as it removes the immersive feeling which you get while playing certain games due to the rumbling of the controller.

The feedback is really good as with wired controllers. The device is comfortable to hold during long gaming sessions.

Verdict

The Logitech F310 is a trustworthy companion for gaming, but it does lack a very essential feature which is the Vibration motors and it’s disappointing.

But for the price, Logitech does give you 3 years of warranty. If you want to save an extra few bucks but insist on getting a branded game controller, this is one good choice for the price.
